    How was the road condition to Twin Lakes Trailhead? Doing a hunting trip there this fall and have a 23 GMC At4 1500. For sure not going over the pass in that but i have heard to twin lakes is doable. Thanks!

    It’s a narrow single lane road, not many places to pull off if there’s oncoming traffic but doable in truck. A local 4wd club out of Crested Butte would give you a better idea of the current road conditions.

    That trail must have been easier back in the late 80’s because I did it in a stock Grand Cherokee we had just bought. AC had crapped out on us and it was mid June, hotter than blazes, and we thought we were taking a shortcut from needles area back to Moab. Last year I thought I would relive that experience going down from Moab, but where the trail got real narrow ( about where your white jeep’s door flew open) sanity prevailed and I turned around. I have no idea how we could have done that trail so long ago, with no lift and Goodyear Eagle street tires. The scenery was as awesome then as it is now. Thanks for the video.

    You have taken me back to 2006. How well I remember this drive the first time in a rented jeep that year, and then several more times in my FJC in '08 and '10. The Pole Creek crossing looks just like I remembered it. Didn't go to Kite Lake because the trout were calling in the Rio Grande headwaters. But thanks for the vicarious trip up. And big thanks for some memorable scenery and many good memories.

    @@0HOON0 stock with some bigger tires and heavy duty skid plate. Toughest part of the trail was on the Aspen side. Had to negotiate ledges and boulders and it was wet. Wouldn’t want to come up that way although a couple jeeps made it. Not many people up there at all.

That one section where you mentioned is difficult, I think I got lucky on that one, went over it smoother than I thought it would. My buddy in his Land Cruiser who was ahead of me, he was leaning over to one side quite a bit and thought he was about to tip over.

    Finally a video with coordinates! AWESOME! I’m going on the trail in May 2023 and I’m concerned about the trees & brush scratching our trucks. The trail looks very narrow especially on the UT side. We’ll have a Raptor and a modified F-150, is the trail wide enough? The area of concern is between coordinates: 38.35811, -109.31901 and 38.40989, -108.93364. Thank you!

  • @gascanFILMS
    @gascanFILMS Жыл бұрын

    I think it's wide enough for full size pickups, but you should do a search to see if any truck has done it, to be absolutely certain. There are some narrow bushy sections on the UT side, that might scratch a side. Yes, the CO side is much wider.

    I liked the video as well. I did the trail from Montrose and hit the washout at the beginning of your video as it was a river on 8/14/2022. I had to backtrack to 191 to make it into Moab. I have yet to work my way through the edits of the vids I took from the trail, but this got me motivated to get through them and get them posted. I have a shot leading up to the 'river' but not the actual washout happening. I loved seeing the trail opposite of what I did it. Makes me want to get back and do it in that direction. I like all of your stuff. Keep it coming.
