Ampleforth? I don't think so. I checked. This was North Skelton, Figures 1 and 2, danced to the correct tunes, and very precisely and neatly done, too.

If the dancers think that this is anything like a Fieldtown dance, they are monumentally deluded. Obviously, as far as these dancers are concerned, "in the style of" means "something vaguely reminiscent of", but in this case the description is hopelessly ambitious. I assume that they are trying to do a galley at the end of each figure? Not!!!

I entirely agree. I played for Jockey Morris (Birmingham) at a Thaxtead Ring Meeting many years ago, and I cannot recall any messing around by small children. It's all very well expecting the host club to "police" what has obviously become a problem, but the onus is on the parents, who in this case appear to have no manners and no consideration for others. Unfortunately, this uncaring, lackadaisical attitude is becoming more and more common, and it is just plain rude. BTW, as a musician who in his time has played for six excellent morris clubs in various parts of the country, I cannot help but point out that it is the job of a musician playing for a high profile solo jig demonstration to watch the dancers' feet carefully, and only hit the relevant "slows" note when the dancer lands when performing capers - which several times did not happen, especially when the first dancer was doing his "chorus" bit.

Definitely in the top 3 of my favorite Morris groups...sadly the video is not as well positioned or filmed as some others of them dancing...and currently available on the internet... I would love to see a better filmed version of this dance by them... It is a very very good dance...

The side is too small...should be an 8 and not a 4...with aggressive dancing and sticks...with the intention of breaking at least one stick...just my wish...Vandals danced by aggressive women with loud and raucous music always brought the crowd alive in my youth...Nice try Wight ...but much too weak for such an immense crowd in Thaxted this time...Best...

I don't wish to be critical but is there any reason for the unruly kids running up and down the arena?, not only do they stand a chance of being trodden on by the dancers but it must be really distracting for the audience as well as those trying to perform. when I attended the evening session a couple of years ago there was a member of the thaxted side on child minding duties but here I can't see any evidence of that, it's good that kids are into morris dancing I don't think an important event such as this is the right time for them to be playing around!.
