    Mine didnt come with an external hydraulic oil filter, however i did notice there is a prescreen and a filter inside the hydraulic oil tank, when i took the flange off that holds the cap. Im wondering if it needs an external filter with those installed?

  • @youcandoitdave6058

    I believe the prescreen is there for large particles only, so to prevent a sandblaster effect, i installed the paper filter cartridge. as someone mentioned, you can get better quality filters for better filtering, but they are expensive.

    Hi Dave. I saw that your oil filter holder you purchased has a check valve built into it. It is the black thing when you look into the inlet side. I suspect there is a certain amount of pressure required to lift that off, so with that required small amount of pressure, and the flow rate of the pump, 10 psi is an expected amount of back pressure. It might also drop once the oil gets up to operating temperature.

  • @youcandoitdave6058
    @youcandoitdave6058Ай бұрын

    since installing the filter, the oil pressure has gone up just a bit, but it is still within 5 - 10 p.s.i. going to wait till it is over 10 p.s.i all the time, then change the filter and cut it open, i want to see how much stuff is inside. hydraulic oil gauge still looks clean and white, so it must be filtering....

    Since the video was meant to prove ( or disprove ) how much water eps holds - and more importantly - if it would drain back down to the original state, i do not really remember the final weight of the xps. I was impressed how little the xps did absorb. Since my entire Hobbit Home is surrounded by a minimum of 8 inches eps, i am not worried about it getting wet and / or draining because of this test.

    I just finished my filter plus oil cooler project on an H12 (tank in different spot than yours) and I think it will help. you have so much more room on the left side for the filter, I would have put it there to give more working room and space from the engine. easier to change the filter too. for the banjo connector, you don't need to have the bolt hole line up with the hose opening, the fluid flows around the bolt in the open space in the banjo portion. its omnidirectional, its more important to have the right tourqe on the bolt for proper seal than alignment. I love my machine, keep it up! I just came in from installing 3/8 flat face quick connects on mine to prep for a tilting bucket!

    At 2:00 minutes, You are probably not going to get what you want. There are several factors involved. 1.These various filters and even the mounting heads have bypass features inside them that could be bypassing as low as 5psi. It could be as high as 50psi, or possibly even "NO" bypass is possible, but probably 5 psi ( at 12:15 ), is where I think yours is bypassing, cold oil, fast flow, only 5-7 psi on the scale? IDK, I could be wrong, I don't know what your mounting head bypass is set for. You need to research your exact part numbers. You did not include your entire shopping list. Maybe you can update the video description area to include all of your major items? 2. If your parts selection allows any opportunity at 5, 15, or even 50 psi of bypass, you might find that almost all of your oil flow will be in bypass mode, it is just too thick, (unless it is so hot that it is watery thin), to get through the media, (your, P551551, is 7micron cellulous), at the speed in which it is flowing through the system. You now have created a mini kidney filter system for your mini excavator! I don't think that was your intent. 3. Your filter selection is cellulous, which is a media type that is incompatible with vegetable based hydraulic oils, Do you know what kind of base material your oil is made from? Plants? or Petroleum? Chinesium? you need to know! Some hydraulic oil is vegetable oil. Maybe get a test? IDK, I'm waiting on my 1st test on oil that has/is 20 minutes runtime/old. 4. You can look at the Donaldson website or google search for "Donaldson Hydraulic Filtration Product Guide", 290 pages of filtration goodness. I am trying to do exactly what you are doing and my research so far has revealed these exact questions to be answered, to get my final results on my mini ex. Why not add a cooler now at this time as well? Supposedly this oil can get to 300 deg (smoking hot), maybe more? Thanks for making this video. Good Luck with your endeavor.

    Mine has started making a LOUD popping noise and tries to jam up as soon as the rake begins to lift. We removed the rake and put it back, inspected and found no visible obstructions along the track. Hopefully your video will be just the answer we’ve been seeking! 🤞 This is my second one of these litter boxes (cats destroyed the cord on the first one)…

    It may be the same problem that i had in the video. Follow the process for removing the screws at the begining of the video and check for broken plastic tabs inside.

    Thank you so much for your suggestion and video! I finally got up the nerve to take it apart tonight, but did not see any broken tabs. There was a little bit of litter inside the unit, so I emptied it out hoping that might be the problem. Unfortunately, as soon as I put it back together and set it back on the litter box, it began popping and skipping again halfway through the cycle… I may have a go at it again in a few days. 🤞

    I also went ahead and ordered a third one of these. Aside from the recent issues, I can’t imagine going back to regular litter boxes again with my four cats! 😣

    @@Kimberly28328 I've purchased 3 of them as well. The company used to be good about allowing the purchase of a new motor, but I've been having trouble with them lately saying they'll ony replace the motor if it's under warranty & if the box was purchased from one of their approved sellers. (I bought the last one from eBay, completely unaware that it wouldn't be a valid seller.) These ARE the best litter boxes -- WHEN they work.

    @@jodykaplan6293 When I called the company, they told me that I was past my warranty so there was nothing they could do. Now two of them are making popping noises, but they are still working, so I’m going to let them run as long as they can. However, I know that with the popping and jumping they’re doing, I can’t expect them to last as long as they would if they were operating smoothly…. Still, better by far than ordinary litter boxes.

    Why my smart scooper automatic liter box reverse not working ?

  • @youcandoitdave6058
    @youcandoitdave6058 Жыл бұрын

    The only time my litter boxes will not reverse, is when i engage the motor unit clutch with the rake / motor unit not all the way back as far as it will go. It then jams up against the curved far end of the litter box and stops. There is a line on the top - of the one side of the litter box that the motor unit lines up with. Pull down on the clutch lever, ( on the side of the motor unit ) push the rack all the way back - behind that line - then flip up the clutch lever to engage the clutch. It should cycle normally after that. Hope this helps !

    Dave can you tell me how to make the rake get all the little pieces that are left behind? Thank you for your time and for all your wonderful tips. Mary Lou

    Thanks for the question ! I use an all natural walnut clumping cat litter, which only starts to leave bits and pieces behind when the litter is getting old and no longer clumps.... Habe you tried changing out the kitty litter with fresh litter ? Once my kitty litter starts doing that, i let it run down to the minimum level, then dump the who.e box out and start fresh... Hope this helps.

    Hi Dave, thanks for sharing.. How much flashing did you need? Did you double it up?

  • @youcandoitdave6058
    @youcandoitdave60582 жыл бұрын

    I believe i used 20 feet of flashing. It comes in 24 inch widths, so i cut it in half, with one piece left over. I only used one piece, but it is a bit thin - should have used both pieces for a more solid deck.
