It's weird to see. I come from Europe and I have never experienced anything like borders. When you drive across the border in Europe, you only notice it by looking at the road signs.

What’s the best way to get from the San Diego airport to the border and roughly how long does it take? Great videos, btw; they’re always straightforward.

My passport was expired over 5 years and always crossed intel I updated may passport, the U.S. cannot stop an American citizen from crossing back to there own country, the U.S., they have other ways to find out, its best to have a passport for smoother crossings they cannot even prevent an American criminal wanted in the U.S., nor arrest, only detain for the C.H.P., then they can be officially arrested and put in jail by the C.H.P.

Useful video. I will be flying from Panama City - San Andres island via Bogota, so once I've passed immigration / passport check and baggage reclaim, will I then have to re-enter via the Domestic departure side?

I must have walked that path a good 50 times in 1988-89 as a teenager every weekend when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Teenagers/college kids my age would flood the Tijuana dance clubs on Revolutionary I believe was the name of the street. *Good Times* never had a single problem... LCPL Gill Semper Fi'

It's changed a little! Back in 1967-8 the road in was via an old brick bridge over the Tijuana river. Vehicles and pedestrians crossed the bridge together and it got you to the bottom of Avenida Revolusion. {Spelling!!} Warning to servicemen returning after a night in Tijuana--"do not pee off the bridge because the police will arrest you." And there was always the US Navy shore patrol wailing just on the US side. Most interesting happening? Impatient Tijuana taxi shot around a bus and collided with a police car that was in front. The police lined up everyone in the taxi and also the bus passengers along the bridge. We scurried past on the opposite side of the road. Great days!

This is so very different from when I crossed around 1988. Back then, you simply went through one turnstile and you were done. No immigration building, no one checking passports or ID, nothing. Once you were through, there was a short walkway to where the taxis were. The walkway was lined with little kids selling cheap candy and singing La Bamba, essentially begging for tourist money. I found it very depressing. On the way back into the USA, they checked my passport and let me go, but then (and I swear I'm not making this up), stopped me again and asked me what my citizenship was. Yes, they did that after reviewing my passport and letting me go.
