No bikini clad hot chicks. Sorry. Just straight up fishin'. Sole intention is to share some Nevada fishing and hunting successes (and failures) and tips with the other addicts out there. Pyramid Lake and Truckee River fishing is lots of what I do....

Awesome day bro, nice fish 🎣
You killed it! Still looking for my 20in+ fish. What were you using?
Nice work dude !!
As I always say, I learned from the MASTA (you)....the Master Baiter, that is. Lol
My son and I fished that entire area on Saturday (my 75th birthday) and only caught small cutts and bows. May I ask what lure(s) you are using? Love your videos!
I used a combo of jerk baits and tube jigs...trying to imitate crawfish. Go see Skinny at Mark Fore & Strike--he should be able to get you and your son hooked up for success!
Fished that same area yesterday, but i could only get some small cuties. What did you use?
Very nice, love your videos
But as I was saying I just now fish later. I don't leave my town til 8:30 and I get to my spots about 10. And I fish til about 2. And it's close to 100 degrees .
The really good bite can happen later in the day. Since I'm a catch and release guy I have made the choice not to fish later in the day most of the time when it gets really hot out...the accepted belief is that if the water temp gets much over 65 degrees the fish you battle and then release have a low survival rate b/c of low dissolved oxygen levels.
I practice catch and release also. But even though it's later in day and it gets around a 100 the water here is snow melt. So I usually have my waders on. If I do take my waders off I can't stand in water long. It's cold. I haven't fished Truckee since the 90's. Use to fish it lot in early 80's to mid 90's. It's almost 3 hours for me. I live Truckee but I got dozens of streams that are within minutes to me and some a half hour and some an hour. So I usually don't make it to Truckee. Some day I'll get back
I guess for me I mostly fished the California side and it wasn't as difficult regulation wise as Klamath or r Trinity but still there were lots of different regulations. From here to here this then this. Then back to this. Then a private club. And not being my neck of the woods I'd say let's just fish where I know the landmarks
@@davidadams5280 Yeah, the water down through the Truckee Meadows can get pretty warm during summertime. Sounds like you don't have to worry about it up there fishing at elevation close to where the snow melt off occurs. Continued good luck to you bud!
I noticed you said late start at 10:30. I use to look at all these charts showing when fish bite and get out early. And I wouldn't catch much at first. Then as it got a little later the bite would get on. And then on way back I'd try spots from earlier and nail them. And my wife would say you do better later in day . But I do best after 10 am on Sunny days. I been averaging on a river about 2 hours from Truckee 45 fish a day and 8 over 5lbs.
Good job you're killing it lately I can't wait to get up there!🎣
Great fishing day! The river has been producing finally!!
Great rainbows! To get that many of them in one day is spectacular. The Truckee really holds some great fish. I was there a couple of weeks ago and couldn't access the Fisherman's Parks of Kietzke. The lots were not open; gates were closed. Did I just pick a bad day? Did someone not open the gates that day? Or are they closed long-term for some reason. I was able to access that stretch of river easily enough by parking at WalMart, so it wasn't the end of the world. All I got were some small cutthroats. the local anglers seemed pretty annoyed by them, but we don't have them here in the Midwest, so I was happy to get them.
Unfortunately, they have that section near Fisherman's Park fenced off, I believe, due to all the homeless turds who do shady stuff in that area. The homeless are a huge problem in the downtown corridor with their trash, drug use and crazy/criminal behavior. Good work catching some fish in the river! It's not an easy fishery to be successful, by any means. I think the reason the locals don't give much credit to the Lahontans in the river is because they are almost all hatchery fish that NDOW stocks periodically and not the wild rainbows and browns that tend to get larger and fight better
Hot damn. Thats a nice fish
Very nice rainbows! What kind of lures do you guys typically use fishing that river?
Usually jigs and jerk baits.
@@mclovin7753 REALLY? Just jerk baits! YOUR THE JERK BAIT!
Yes thats what i tell people. The creeks i fish its more like 90% are at the beginning or easy and known spots. I fished a spot between two popular holes and i caught 7 rainbows that were 5lbs each. People were above me above me at easy popular spot with bait for hours. I came back and when they ask i just say a coup hits or little guys. These people keep everything. And i do all i can to not get the word out
Very Nice. I been catching trout here in California look about like that. Only a couple hours away from there. On a stream. I been average 10 like that per trip and 40 fish overall per trip. It's a famous spot but I only see a couple people per trip and I do all to keep it that way lol
Nice work bud! I find that if you even walk 1/4 from a road/parking area then you lose about 75% of the other fisherman
Sssshhhhh…..June is a pretty well kept secret.
lol
@@mclovin7753it’s pronounced kwee-wee by the way
I've been watching your videos for a while now (found your channel when doing research for a visit to Reno) and am now a new subscriber. We'll be visiting again next week, so it was good to see our hotel in the background-it gives me a good idea of some places to get started fishing. Keep the great content coming. All the fish you caught, the rainbows especially, look very healthy. They must be finding plenty to eat
Glad you get some entertainment/information value from the videos. You can catch big trout all the way through the Reno and Sparks corridor. The Truckee River is an awesome fishery. Good luck and I hope you get a good one or two during your trip!
Great stuff, you really enjoyed that 😊👍
Thanks, it's a rush tricking one of the bigger fish that lurk in the Truckee
Nice triple species day 👍
Awesome video I didn't know you could use two treble hooks on the Truckee?
As long as you're fishing from NV State line out to Mustang your're good with pretty much anything. The section of river from Mustang east that is special regs (artificial single barbless)
@@mclovin7753 Thanks for the info!
No skunk !
Sick !!!!
Can't let ya show me up with all the big dogs you've been catchin' bud
Nice fish !!
Thanks brotha. I learned from the best!
I got a brown today too, not as big as yours though lol🎣😢
Nice work bud. Seems like we gotta spend a lot of time on water to find the big brownies that want to play
Nice Brown! Looks like the Glendale section?
Yes sir
Beast of a brown!! Way to get out there! Lines going in the water some where.
Sweet. Go out and get yourself some!
Killer videos man, it's good to hear that there's finally some fish close to shore at Pyramid again...
Seriously. It's been a rough season out there for the most part. Maybe the last month or so will make up for it? Good luck out there!
Bad ass catch! Best lunch break ever!
Thanks, my man. It's definitely way better to spend lunch fishin' for big trout than sitting in an office...
Nice work stud
Thanks brohammer
Thanks for catch and release properly and using the right fish net. You are a true caring sportsman. Let's continue to teach the new guys/girls how to do this properly. Tight lines buddy!
We all have to try to be as gentle on these fish as we can so they can get back in the system to breed, for other anglers to have a shot at catching and to get even BIGGER!
Pyramid, a lake of mystery......at least for me. Yes, tons of anglers however there's plenty of fish to go around for everyone. Maybe due to higher water levels and a higher availability of food for the fish? Fewer Summits? Hell, I dont know.
What’s funny is that in Mexico they don’t celebrate cinco de mayo 😂 but nice to see someone out in about dangling 🫡
Nice to see a guy who knows how to handle and release fish properly. Tight lines always my friend!
I try. Those Truckee River trout, especially, run the gauntlet with constant hassling from fish-eating birds, trying to avoid being tangled in bum trash and always-changing water conditions/weather....last thing they need is some fisherman manhandling them and dropping them in the gravel. Good luck out there!
What bait do you use this time of year.
I'm pretty much chucking jigs this time of year! It's the only thing that seems to interest them right now
@mclovin7753 Ty! looking to hit the truckee or anywhere soon. ✌️
That’s a stud brown!!! Worth the trip! Great job man.
Thanks bubba!
Lotta guys think the shore fishing is done for. Never caught on fire. Spawn is pretty much over and fish heading deep. Float or boat will be best.
Weird year, for sure...can't recall a season in the last 5 years where the shore bite died after New Year's and never picked back up after spawn
Spawning season only one thing on there mind late may and June they back into there feeding mode
To much cursing, you need to realize you show your ignorance by the way you speak.
Feel free not to watch bud
Awesome. !!!!😎
June will hit !
I sure hope so bubba
That's brown Town 😂 Know exactly where you was, and yeah there's big n smart browns n bows in that section.😊
If you’re willing to share any secrets😏😏, everywhere I’m at on the truckee is just moving way too fast to fish.
Agreed, it’s been tough! I’m a try again there in mid may, june. Bust out the tube and shorts! Haha
True that! Good luck out there!
Rumor has it he's still holding it!😅
Nice catch! got my butt kiked the other day with that high water and slim! Time to hit the reservoir’s!
Yeah, it's frustrating not being able to get a single clean cast and retrieve
I do the same. Nice fish
Try casting our flies below a float for fun~loved this video ~~~~~~~~~cheers boys
Beats the odds of the street~such a great spot!
Watched one vid .. nothing but foul mouthed cussing… cmon man.. kids watch this stuff.. grow up and act like a man..
i see your downtown near the casinos? whats that white building in the back and what exit? was just out towards idlewild and bennet park over the weekend. great job on wrangling that fish in btw! LFG!
Glendale-Kietzke area
He's was a good size for the river. Awesome catch. Way to stick with it. Hope to see you out there again.
