Three of us have decided to film our metal detecting sessions so that we will have a permanent record. And maybe others will enjoy watching us through our high and low moments.
We will be doing giveaways, we will be taking part in challenges, we will be attending the occasional rallies, we will be taking road trips to other parts of Essex and beyond. But most of all, we will be enjoying ourselves doing a hobby that we all love.
We have named ourselves Essex Unearthed because that is where we are from and it is where most of our sessions take place. But don't be fooled into thinking that we only detect there. We will travel from time to time to organised digs or just visit beaches that are in other Counties.
We are all members of a metal detecting club and we all have insurance.
Please join us on our journey to uncover the lost treasures of Essex and beyond

I've been all along that beach recently and it's been absolutely emptied of everything of any use it's been detected to death😢
Great video! My Son and I are planning to try his new Vanquish 440 at Clacton in a few weeks. What search mode do you use?
hi there do I need permission on canvey beach to detect???
Yes mate, all private beaches on Canvey.
Found a box of spanners urried down Southend beach years ago.
Got to love a bit of beach detecting. Best wishes out there.
I now have a nox 600 still have my sovereign elite but find it a bit heavy these days plays havoc with my tennis elbow. Enjoyed the video 👍
Alright fella’s!!! I’m staying down Chaukwell for a couple of days tomorrow. Fancy a dig on Tuesday Darren or Les? If so let me know. Gagging to get some pre-decimals but only got welly’s so would have to be just the foreshore. Thanks ☺️
Hello mate. I drive a lorry through the week so unfortunately won't be able to make it and Led is snowed under with work. We are going out next Monday though if you are free and able to make it.
Please do some more videos… miss your videos each week. Hope all is well with you all! Good luck if your out anytime soon
So so sorry i have not been about of late been working on a little something hope all the family are well 👍 from tezza 😊😊😊😊
Are beaches with a poor summer worked out? Cashless society? Autumn is upon us, seek out the old school coins ! People still lose and drop stuff. I miss you guys. Another month gone. Back in the day, I lived in Great Wakering. I know Southend well and its estuary.
Air show on at Clacton think it's tomorrow lot of people could be good?
I got there at 4am Saturday .Already three at it and it had been done over night. I still got most of me petrol money covered though.
Hi guys just got a pin pointer off ebay turned out to be crappie keeps bussing all the time. Not got a great deal of money can you recommend anything please. Ton
In my opinion you can't go wrong with the Garret Carrot. I have been using mine in all conditions for around 7 years and it is still going strong. Cheap pinpointers are a waste of time and money.
Thank you .
A late reply, I'm using a Quest pi pp in the videos A bit cheaper than the carrot. A bit of black tape over the speaker and its water proof.@@tonyreadings7055
good to see you out on the beach, too long.
Love seeing you guys. Its made me go out and get started. I lived in Clacton 20+ years ago brings back good memories. Keep it going lads . Tony
Are we allowed to detect on Canvey beach? Thanks
You can detect Canvey Point but the other beaches are private, or so I have been informed
@@gravedays8875, is this the same place as shown in the video? Sorry, complete newbie here :)
@@jasonmileham No it isn't. The beach Essex Unearthed were on is a private beach but they had special permission.
@@gravedays8875, thanks for clearing that up for me :)
Great to see you guys back.
Missed seeing you guy's detecting the beach and foreshore of Essex. Always excited when I see the older coins and finds you dig up. Keep up the good work.
Always nice to find a bit of silver.
Good to see you fellas back
Hi chaps. I emailed castle point and some areas are OK if you return their for in advance with a copy of some insurance. I know the castle is an English Heritage site but what about the marshes and foreshore?
I have no idea. We don't really do castle point. Canvey north point has what remains of medieval ploughed fields in the marsh, but it is quite soft under foot in places
Hi Is there times you are allowed to detect on the beach or can you do any times ?
Hi, you can go any time you like.
Banging day!!! Well over 20 notes and on the shiny stuff! Well worth going that day 👌
Southend on mud nice😅
Do you need a permit to detect Southend area?
No, just make sure you backfill your holes on the beach.
@@gravedays8875 I would anyway
@@badge-masterjay6430 I wasnt trying to be smart. What I meant by that was the only stipulation from the council is that you must backfill your holes.
Good effort on this one. Might check out those small coils.
Good to see you all back out there, missed watching your videos on a sunday!. Great video good luck for the next one
dyou lads ever get to felixstowe?
We havent up til now, but never say never.
👍 from your brother tezza thanks for sharing you legend
Excellent video chaps, hope to hit the beach with the Deus 2
The Canvey flood was in 1953! If you have nothing nice to say about Canvey why bother coming?
I actually quite like Canvey. It is just local banter. Believe me when I tell you Southend is worse.
I emailed castle Point about beach detecting. They sent me a long list of byelaws and a form. You can, but need to apply in advance with the form and name the area you wish to cover. Valid 6 months after approval. Is there any restriction on castle foreshore can somebody please tell me?
I dont know too much about castle point. I do know however that there are some private beaches on Canvey Island which you can't detect on. Shoebury Common beach is OK for detecting as are Thorpe Bay, Southend, Westcliff, Chalkwell and Leigh. Beyond that I am unsure.
ahh, thats better, enjoy watching you boys on the beach.
Nice to see you all back on the shore. What is your new channel about?
I visit the graves of celebrities and people of interest plus victims of crime.
Just got the simplex from LP for Xmas from my Mrs. Hoping to get out soon after some garden practice. Will keep a look out for you both. Thanks for the videos. Very interesting.
Nice half crown there Darren.
With all due respect...you're not going to find anything of historic value out there. Only dropped jewellery and modern coins. I know those beaches and mudflats like the back of my hand You are better off going up around the corner to East Shoebury beach. At least they had the Garrison there and there always bits and pieces of old pottery etc on the beach.
You're not allowed to detect on East Beach, it's MOD land...
Welcome back.
Nice to see ya bk in the new year bk at the beack top job you legend s
Good to see you boys back!
Hay guys, no videos for 2 months, im suffering withdrawl syntoms, really enjoy you boys detecting.
Sorry we haven't been out for a while. There are various reasons for this. I have been concentrating on my new channel (not detecting), Neil has spent all all his time training his new dog and it was too cold for Les. Les and I will definitely be going out next weekend to make another foreshore video, promise
Great filming and good to watch. Just new and got a nokta simplex for Xmas from my lovely wife. Is there a group I can join to meet and get permissions to visit places? Thanks
Fantastic coin. Well found. Not many of them in north Lancashire.
This video has a good style! Like!
Good video shame about your mate that don't like Chelsea and speaks like a darlek lol 😂
That Coronation medallion is a cracking find. Not seen one of those before. Nice scenery too if a bit cold for you.
Love the medallion, what a find!! Amazing condition of most of the copper coins. Thanks for posting, cheers, John.
Seems to be raining everywhere...Sandra in Adelaide South Australia 🇦🇺
I love how those old coppers come out. Like new. Amazing. New sub
Brilliant medallion, star find of the day, good job guys
