Lot of players here choke up on the bat. Personally I found that to be less powerful. Is it the difference between a player legging them out vs power hitters?? Batting is about leverage.

Between 16:44 to 25:07 I like how it goes consistently between the Detectives and Inspector pursuing Son of Sam with there turmoil over to the Yankees with the players, Management, & George himself there turmoil. The Inspector 14:09 and George 31:03 would work well together if in the same business

I always wondered about the Steinbrenner scenes when he's on the phone, and then interrupted by someone. In this ep. he talks to someone named "Milt," who is idk. The scenes when he's talking on the phone are some of my favorites: Steinbrenner on the phone before the Miller Lite commercial? Forget it!

To use a game nearly 7 years before Bill Russell entered the league as an example of the competition he faced from 57 to 69 is dishonest. Just ignore Wilt, Thurmond, Bellamy, Reed, and the other great centers he played against. Plus, Russell played in a much faster paced era than this since this was pre shot clock.

It’s a great look back at The Yankees and the tumultuous relationships going on in the organization at the time…but it’s also a great historical look-back at the time period itself, and the entire vibe of NYC during those years, with the layoffs of police, garbage strikes, crime, the economic distress, and the underlying but ever present fear and paranoia in NYC because of Son Of Sam… As a side note, the intro theme music is awesome!

Frank Robinson would have beaten the crap out of George. There is no way Steinbrenner ever would have had the courage to hire Robinson and abuse him the way he did Martin. I wonder, did BM ever consider using Reggie as permanent DH at the #4 spot, and platooning in RF? That would have satisfied GS but pissed him off at the same time.

Yankees fans? They booed Mickey Mantle for 10 years. They cheered Reggie Jackson from day 1. How does that work out?

Did Howser actually undercut Munson with the running versus hitting issue? Or was that for just dramatic impact? I really hope that Mickey Rivers ditched that shrill harridan he was married to. She reminds me of overhyped Rep Jasmine Crockett.

i wonder if the players here have an innate basketball skill that was just wasted because they were born in the wrong times. i wonder if you put these players today as kids in like basketball classes and raise them to be basketball players, if they all still have something innately different from other people (since they play in the NBA, different talent wise)

Gil Hodges deserves special consideration as the greatest Manager of a Baseball Team in MLB history. The Mets were "on paper" completely out classed in terms of talent at their various positions, and by the players career production. Yet Gil Hodges made The Mets into a better overall TEAM by their preparation & their fundamentals: the bunting skills, the defense, the positioning, the alertness, and .... Hodges seem to always make the right personnel platooning decisions where whether it was Ron Swoboda or Art Shamsky, Al Weiss or Ken Boswell, Ed Charles or Wayne Garrett, Don Clendenon or Ed Kranepool, Rod Taylor or Tug McGraw, J.C. Martin or Gerry Grote, Nolan Ryan in a relief role, etc. ... all of these Gil Hodges decisions seem to produce 'magic' and the necessary "spark" or production at the just the right time. This Team won 100 games, swept the Atlanta Braves, and then nearly swept The Baltimore Orioles! Ron Swoboda, Jerry Koosman, Tommie Agee, Al Weiss, and Don Clendenon were all difference makers in this historic World Series. None of them are in the Hall-of-Fame, but you can make a very good case for Jerry Koosman to be there (an amazing pitcher who would have had a lot more 20-win seasons had it not been for injures, and poor batting support) .

Bill Russell was 15 years old at the time of this game. He won his first Championship in the NBA as a rookie at 22 years old. None of these guys were in the League. George Mikan was only in his 2nd year. The Lakers were the Basketball Dynasty of this ERA.

In this day in age it’s strrickingly apparent that the roles of what was feminine- female and male /male gender roles have evolved. Chris does not want to be considered an athlete. She even says she’s a 2-3 hr tennis player rest of the day a woman. Today such discussion wouldn’t have come up. She did it with such class.

I don't like Saperstein. All the black basketball players to him were nothing but slaves. Evil s.o.b.! He was never a coach! Just an evil troll not having respect for black people as equals and exploiting black men for greed! If black men only knew their talent they would have let that slim enslave them! Playing seven days a week just to make ends meet!? Shame on him and Americans like him.!
