Does the Monomaster also work for very short pieces of line, 1 inch or shorter? For the cut offs after making a knot?
Hi Bize8880, if you mean short ends of the leader or tippet then yes it will work with this! It won't work for fly line or backing.

I've been there. The truth is it's a very nice area next to the river. But it doesn't take much skill it's stocked up practically daily. To be honest catching a large fish that has been in the lake for a few hours or days is not really that sporting is it . They are bound to be in good condition, as they are very well fed before being released into the lake.

Great video, and this is my dream kind of fishing, but I feel you missed a trick not mentioning Saltwater fly fishing in the UK. It’s accessible to everyone, particularly those who don’t have a few grand to spare on a trip to Belize like myself and offers a lot of the same benefits 👍

New to fly fishing? Don’t fish more than one fly! You will lose three at a time, and tangle terribly, and snag fish, or yourself.

This is so complicated, but thanks for explaining. Why not just a sinking line or a sink tip. I think manufacturers are ripping Anglers off with confusion, like you say yourself keep it simple.
Excellent video. I also very much enjoy fishing spiders especially when exploring new waters but I miss most (like 90%) of the takes I would be very grateful for your advice on how to strike.

This is a really good video and addresses many of issues I face on the water! I.e. when to set the hook, fishing in coloured water, where the fish are etc! Thank you!!

I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Jardine in the Bahamas once years ago. He was generous with his time giving me and others casting tips. It was obvious he enjoyed meeting others, talking and getting to know one other. It was a wonderful experience talking with him. This video is a perfect representation of his love of water and the fish that swim in it, especially feeling the tug on the end of the line. Thx.

Great video (as is everything that Pat does). In the video, he describes a range of what might be labelled a "micro" leader. I'd love to know the exact leader configuration he himself was using in the video.
Hey there! Pat was using a level micro leader of around 5lb mono for 18 ish feet, followed by a tippet ring to 7x tippet. For competition regs the total leader and tippet length can't be more than twice the length of the rod, so there's a bit of variation depending on his rod length but generally this is it.

Organising an outdoors live event in April has always been full of challenges, with unpredictable weather and attendance, not to mention trying to get all our guest contributors together at the same time. COVID showed that we could make it work much more efficiently, albeit at the expense of our customers being able to properly interact with our team and the brands on show. In today’s tough retail climate it’s simply not financially viable, so this year we made the difficult decision to keep it fully virtual again, allowing us to focus more fully on bringing you fantastic content from the best brands and people in the business, plus great competitions and offers. We hope you were able to join us!

So Pat, I understand “horses for courses” but what would be you “go to” set up?
Pat is most well known for his floating the sighter tactics, and dry dropper tactics. He's very good at presenting small, barely weighted flies at distance in technical water. With that said, because he fishes so many competitions he has to be well rounded, hence his foray into fishing micro leaders.
