Ive heard wolfs setup male dogs with a female in heat and flank the target. If you see a wolf in front of you theres a good chance your already surrounded. Thats one animal that scares the shit out of me. Luckily they migrate where i used to live and stayed at higher altitudes.

It will never cease to fascinate me - the responses shown by animals when coming across a human being. Far faster, far more powerful are they that retreat from us. I remember seeing a documentary narrated by our British Actor John Hurt ( as was ), and an episode within it in which about four members of the Maasai Mara Tribe in Kenya were out to gather some food. They found a pride of about 6 or so lions feeding on a very recent kill. What those chaps did was prepare to take that meal from the lions. They stood up all together and all together walked straight toward the kill. The lions looked at the men - and almost immediately backed off. One of the members of the Maasai Tribe cut off a leg of the antelope ( or whatever animal it was that the lions had killed ), turned - and each of them walked away with their backs to the lions - one of them carrying their quarry. It was all based on bluff ! Well, of course it was - since any one of those lions could have torn every man to pieces.

...what about "a pack of wolves". Now that the env. nutjobs have populated our woods with "dangerous wolves", you better not walk around like she is doing "unarmed" in the hope that she wont turn into "lunch".

This video is "irresponsible" by our WOKE "Dept. of Fish and Wildlife". For starters, when you go out into the wilderness, at the very least carry a good size KNIFE.....unless you feel like playing Russian Roulette with your life !!

Of your pool of candidates, you have one clear choice to lead this agency out of the realm of ineffectual bureaucracy. That would be Debbie Colbert. She is the only candidate that has demonstrated the grasp of science required to affect positive outcomes for all stake holders. We work on the leading edge of habitat design which requires continual innovation and a blind eye towards the status quo. Debbie Colbert's background will provide scientific leadership instead of the continual gyre of much of public administration. Slicing through to results matters in the real world , especially the natural world.

It's so nice our overlords let us keep a fish. Their wild fish management is junk science and the HSRG model is wrong as applied to dammed-up rivers, the last ten years prove it IMO! I'm not familiar. with this river

in the Netherlands the wolfs are on their way back and more people get in contact with them, some ignorant people even feed them. which chances the behavior of some, causing them to be more curious and not always running away, or even walking circles around people causing them to be frightened, thinking they're being attacked. i bet some of the people feeding them really think they're helping them whilst they couldn't be more wrong. we humans really have to start teaching our kids how ignorant we can be, how its usually not what we think. and that we have to stop thinking this world is ours if we cant take responsibility for it. thank you for your interesting video!

A lone wolf? OK, but running into a small pack of wolves is different. Earlier in my life, I spent every possible moment backpacking in the wilderness of the California Sierra Nevada mountains. I had a number of animal confrontations from small marmots chewing through a tent, mountain lions chasing deer within feet of my camp and three encounters with black bears including one that was so close that I could feel it's breath as she howled at me. None of these animals are known for preying on humans. But today with both Grizzly bear and wolves being reintroduced into our wilderness areas, I don't think I would travel by myself in those parts of the wilds.

Don't know if this video has been reposted or it's just been floating around for 14yrs. Buuut my question is where's the data now? Why do we have fewer fish than ever in the Willamette Valley 14yrs later!!! Keep lowering hatchery production or closing hatcheries and you have the results we have now!! "Hatchery and Wild Co-Exist"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in my yard in the sierra Nevada's at 11pm taking some things out of my car. I had a good light over the garage but it faded into darkness about 30 feet out. Something caught my eye on the edge of the light, and out of the dark shape walked what I thought was a giant dog. It was greyish dark in color. It didn't appear aggressive via dog standards, as it just casually but slowly approached. I noticed it had a radio collar on which I thought was super weird. My own dog, an 80lb make lab mix was with me, and he immediately stood between me and the approaching animal. His hair stood straight up, he growled continually very low, and he's froze like a Statue. It was then I saw the swish of a tail at the edge of the dark, behind the animal, and I thought "holy crap there's another one I can't see". At that point I saw that this thing was a head taller than my dog, and had long legs and a long snout. It dawned on me that I was looking at a wolf. I didn't know there were any wolves in the sierra so I assumed maybe they were pet wolves that got out from a neighbor up the street. The property was extremely rural, wooded, and was against national Forest land consisting of teens of thousands of acres. At any rate, the wolf didn't take it's eyes off me. I continued to back up and say nice calm things to it until I reached the gate to the deck. At that point it was standing right with my dog, who was still holding a paralyzed stiff stance in-between myself and the wolf. It then looked at my dog curiously. It made no sound, kept is mouth closed, and just stood there almost curiously. I called my dog and after a few tries my dog turned around and ran up to me on the deck. The wolf stood there and didn't come closer. My dog and I went in the house and I called animal control to let them know. A few months later I learned about the sierra wolf pack, and saw some camera footage. I believe these were the wolves I saw, which was nice because at least I knew I want going crazy. I am glad the wolf didn't hurt me or my dog. She was very pretty, but holy moly I had no idea how big they really are. I'm not tall and her head came to my chest. Scary stuff...
