your staples are what's heating up and burning the wood by the exit for the pipe. The metal staples go through all the heat shield straight into the wood. Try stapling it on the inside and out, not in direct heat from the pipe.

I just discovered this channel a few nights ago and very much enjoy the videos I've seen so far. Very relaxing and helpful to fall asleep to. I noticed you use a lot of wool for insulation which is very smart since it's not only great for warmth but also fire resistant. But since it is also very loved by rodents I wonder if you have the option to try using steel wool at least for an outer layer of insulation since it does stop rodents and other pests. Maybe that would be helpful for the new build you are working on. I'm just so impressed by the wonderful work you put in and that continued smile, wave 👋 and thumbs up 👍 is just so heart warming. 🫂 to you and your 🐕 from me and my 🐕all the way in the Southwestern US.
