I don't know how you can show the double backflip on the crusty demons documentary but not on the Travis Pastrana?

Definitely always a give and take in life but I think I’m that 50/50 rider, sport bike to work sometimes/longer rides and dirt bike/enduro when I’m playing on the weekends or whenever, I think a tenere 700 would be the perfect middle ground🔥🔥🔥

I put some on and hate them. Front has no grip. Rear is like a sand paddle. Motoz Rallz is the route I went and is in my opinion is a FAR superior tire.

They did build them. They just aren't called adventure bikes. They are called dual sports. DRZ400 is probably the best known.

since the point of gravity can't be dealt with on a quad like it can be balanced on a dirtbike there is the first problem: basic physics. and if you have a wrong understanding of physics and think you can use this inherently much more instable machine without safety geer there comes another constant of natural science this time from biology: Darvin.

It's a particularly American phenomenon, mainly due to greedy lawyers looking for a market to screw over. In Europe, police actually look at 'who is at fault', bit like the US gun lobby (guns don't kill people, people kill people') The 'history' of off road 3 wheeler's relates to American servicemen in Japan seeing farmers using them and bringing them back after deployment. (It looks like fun playing in the mud) They were 'home market' farm equipment only with a 230cc engine. It literally created a market in USA which only the Japanese had facilities to produce as they were already making low power versions. The H1 was the widowmaker, 60bhp in a 125/250cc chassis, the H2 was quite civilised by comparison. In the early 1980's, California market was larger than all of the rest of USA combined, best selling MX bike was RM125, even though RM or CR250 was actually easier to ride but parents wouldn't buy kids a 250. I remember telling people the Quadzilla was some Japanese guys 'revenge' for America bombing his granny 😁

I think you're spot on with regards to why Honda made a lackadaisical 750 TransAlp. Makes sense that a true T700 competitor would cannibalize Africa Twin Sales. I strongly disagree with your whole "perfect motorcycle" diatribe. There is no such unicorn that exists, or can be designed/built. By their very nature dual sport/ADV bikes compromise in various areas (depends on the model), and those compromises make them weaker on the street or trail vs bikes designed for more specific applications. It depends solely on the rider demands whether a given bike is suitable. No ADV bike is suitable for me on the street - to hi, to long, big front wheels, too much rake - because I like sporty bike handling. The big ADV's are just too much for average riders to do more than smooth gravel. I chose a DR650 for much better off pavement performance, and live with lowly street performance, because I don't try to find the unicorn that doesn't, and can't, exist. Some bikes do meet some riders definition of a "unicorn". What I have found is that these riders are not very demanding in both the street and trail arenas - the less demanding the rider is, the easier it is to meet the demands. The other responses herein make my point for me.

I remember my first time straddling a banshee. I was afraid if it because i was like 13. I was used to big bikes though. I rode my dads yz426 even though i was way too small for it. That bike had serious power. Also had a rm 250 that was pretty wild as well. So big power wasn’t new to me. I got on it and rode it around and was honestly disappointed. It wasn’t the beast I dreamed of. So naturally i got more confident with it. Started giving it more juice and what not, then the power band kicked in. That thing scared the shit out of me. The front wheels damn near went 12:00 when I wasn’t planning on it. And it felt like it would rip my arms out my sockets. I had to hold on to it for dear life. Felt like it was riding me lmao. Was definitely not the size person that thing was made for lmao. When i got it back to the truck i was shaking. Absolute blast though! I wish i could go back and re live my first ride again! The rush was insane

I loved my 2001 green sticker banshee. I had mine setup for jumping in the dunes. I had toomy t5 pipes, cool head, flip out levers, chromoly steering and a host of other goodies. The banshee was only made for the sand, where you could keep it in the power band, and should never be ridden in the dirt. I rode mine once at Gorman and hated it. Too dangerous to ride in the dirt. From jumping at pismo, climbing at dumont, playing at glamis, the banshee was made for the sand.

The sons of successful men are usually f-ups. Entitled, spoilt brats who have learned nothing because they have been pampered and spoon-fed. That’s why we get ‘boots to brass and back to boots’ with any company that ends up in the hands of the children. And their financial security is assured through their trust funds regardless of whether the company continues to exist or not.
