Im a huge Blondie & Bond fan just found out tonight whilst searching Wikipedia about FYEO that Blondie were considered to do the soundtrack. What an opportunity missed the tune written by Blondie is fantastic 👏

"For Your Eyes only" has ALWAYS been, and will FOREVER BE,my most favorite Bond-movie of all time!!! Sorry everyone, please don't get me wrong here,as I LOVE Debbie Harry!!! Always have, but I'm SO GLAD they went with Sheena Easton for this song!!! HER voice is just ASTOUNDING for that song and it fits her range so PERFECTLY!!! It'll leave anyone in tears by the song's end!!!

I generally like the classic Bond sound better, but this is one of the best modern/rock themes I've heard. Definitely has a sexy retro secret agent man vibe to it.

The Blondie song could have suited better with more light hearted Moore’s Bond movies especially if it is embellished with John Barry’s orchestra. Easton is better choice for that particular film.

Fully orchestrated that would have been one hell of a Bond song based on how incredible this version is.

Really love this take on the theme. Has that 60s Bond elements. But also draws from the new wave music that was big at the time. Had this been the song it would always be in the top five Bond songs.

This is magnitudes better than the Conte/Easton version. It sounds more Bond and fits the film better. the levels need to be reworked. Debbie's voice is badly drowned out. I agree, it should have been used as the closing theme.

I love the Sheena Easton song, grew up listening it on on the radio. This song, however, is very good and feels more Bond to me. It has the sound of a song from a rock band and Sheena's song has the sound of a pop song from a solo artist. That's not a good or bad thing, just an observation.

@@TheTantrumtoblind Disagree all you want. This is still a *MUCH* better song, plus it sounds much more “Bond-like”. The only reason they went with Sheena Easton was because Blondie stood their ground. What happened was that the film’s producers had already made up their minds that they were going to use a song that had been composed by Bill Conti and Michael Leeson. At first they offered it to Blondie, who rejected it on the grounds that they had already written their own theme song, so they (the producers) turned around and offered it to Sheena Easton, who accepted. Sure, it was a big hit, but in my opinion (and more than a few others) it was dull and boring. Still, it wouldn’t be the first time mediocrity was a hot seller. That’s happened many times throughout history. Oh well. A similar scenario played out back in ‘74 with Alice Cooper and “The Man With The Golden Gun”, except the only reason Alice Cooper’s song wasn’t used was because he missed the deadline, by something like one day. They wound up using Lulu’s terrible version instead. I’ve never met anyone who likes that one.

In a way yes, and good song here. . but in going against the grain with the Sheena Easton/Bill Conti version they did something so unexpected and powerful. . to give a depth and sadness and fragility to the Bond experience made it multi dimensional and more powerful i think, it was in danger of getting too campy. . we didn't see that kind of expansion and re-invention until the Blonde Bond brutally killed the guy in the opening of the first Daniel Craig Bond. All that pent up Blondness exploded 25 years later i guess!
