3:06 "he's not a real person"🤣😅
disagree... A PG who can't shoot with below average D... It's a no no for me. TP would not work in 2024 NBA. Sure if he magically become an average shooter (36.6% is the average 3P% in the NBA) he'll be good... But it's a gamble... Shooting 3P is not about individual scoring but about gravity. I don't care if he can finish and pass. If his Defender don't have to stick on him at the perimeter, the paint will be clog.
Just discovered you channel today... And even if I don't agree with you on his star potential, I might say you make plenty fair and unbiased points
Man he was special
Hate that he’s not willing to be anything but a pg cs him in charlotte would be special
With the last name Castle he better be a star.
Have your thoughts changed after his recent injury news?
Yeah, a bit. Still find him incredibly talented but knee injuries are always concerning, especially at his age. Probably wouldn’t take him over Sheppard at this point, even if I think in a vacuum he’s more talented overall
@@hoophierarchy He is really talented. I believe his playmaking ability will still be there, the only thing I worry about is his finishing will take a hit. I work in sports medicine and seen a lot of ACL injuries. Some people bounce back and get back to where they are at, others have issues with their body rejecting the correct, and others have issues with their non torn knee as they rely on it more. I think he is young enough and will have the right doctors to be ok but you can never tell.
Torn ACL announced today June 6th
Welcome to the OKC Thunder ⚡ ❤
If you like him, take him. Damn where he's mocked because every pick has potential to bust. Years later no one will care if they were wrong.
Gianni's had all the same improvement areas: lacks bulk, decent handle, decent decision maker, inconsistent jumper, defensive discipline, etc....
Great video! Earned a sub
Appreciate it!
Centers attempting 3's is the equivalent of small guards that can really jump. It's enticing but ultimately won't determine how good they actually are at the customarily required basics of their position.
Drafting based on measurables is fools gold. Basketball is about fundamentals and skill. Potential swings both ways. It just means that the player is not currently able to do certain things but MIGHT do them one day.
Can't for get that " Name Factor" !!😂😂
Overrated
Landry Fields, I know you are reading some of these messages. Please make up for past mistakes made by the Hawks on draft day and select Alex Sarr! He runs the floor like Dominique Wilkins and reminds me a little of Giannis. The kid will get bigger and stronger in the next couple years and has quick feet and is a defensive force. His fade away jumper is getting better and better. Draft Sarr please! The kid will be an All-Star in two years.
I love reading all the comments and seeing people argue 😂.
Jimmy Butler… same height, not an elite shooter, lockdown defender, great finisher, leader, team first, ultra competitive… Much like Jimmy, Stephon Castle plays the game with an inherent situational awareness. This is evident in his ability to catch defenders off guard, often times creating contact that results in a foul call or an easy pass to a wide open teammate. The foot work in the paint is very good, along with the ability to spin into positive space. If Castle lands on a team with a coaching staff to nurture his strengths and improve on his weaknesses, he will be a star. Ps I do not think he is a point guard, doesn’t mean he can’t play PG at a high level. I think he would find more success at SG.
Is Dillingham better though?
Awesome video
Interesting that he and Jokic have very similar drafts analysis. Prob worth nba gms considering this.
I'm starting to worry that he will not be available at pick 4 when the Spurs are up
Atl won't take him #1. Washington could, but have plenty of forwards and would pair risarcher with the other French player. And Houston has brooks for def. Castle at 4, salaun at 8
i feel like he's going to be a Jrue Holiday type in the Pro's. Jrue is not an elite point gaurd but, he has the skill set to be an effective one he plays the game the right way and is more effective as a PG when he has perimeter players making the plays and working off of them as a secondary playmaker although still being the " lead gaurd" position. Spurs decent perimeter playmakers like Vassel and hopefully Sochan takes a leap. Wemby is also gonna have the ball a lot so having a ball dominant PG will be counter intuitive. Castle just needs to focus on building his shot.
His High School film gives off a lot of Shai vibes…….don’t want to put that label on him considering Shai was in MVP talks but his scoring ability & offensive creation is a lot polished than ppl think because of his role at UConn……..very talented all around player……(also don’t think Reeds on the top tier of playmakers & I think Castles a better playmaker then Reed comfortably)
Wiz gonna take him at 2
I feel like Michael Carter-Williams as a good comp... castle prolly evolves into a better shooter
What wasJalen brunson elite skill coming into the draft
Scoring/efficiency. Jalen Brunson averaged 19/5 his senior year on 52% from the field and 40% from 3
Did you see Jalen Bruson become the player he is today an all star
No Tristan Newton his teammate is actually the True PG and no one talking about him. He is the sleeper of the draft along with Ryan Dunn
true but castle was pretty much forced to play as a hybrid pg with newton, due to Uconn's coaching of guard play. and clearly it worked out. castle has a bigger ceiling esp bc of his age. he didnt get to showcase his abilities as much as hes capable of. kid is gonna be a legit player in the league soon. without any negativity towards newtons game, he answered
When you watch both guys on tape together, Newton doesn’t stand out at all and looks like Barcelona or China material. Castle looked like a star
Hoping he improves his shooting like Ja Morant did.
How tall is he?
6’6
He's rare star talent in this class,if teams need talent better swing on him.
Sorry, but the “True Best PG” should be able to shoot. Just can’t get over the fact that how people are still using the “If Kawhi can fix his shooting anyone can”logic in 2024… Shooting touch like all stuff requires talent to do so,that’s why there’s only one Steph Curry, one Klay Thompson. Normally you can see a good shooter even when they’re young ,Kawhi was just a ridiculous rare case that’s all.
There been many PG’s that were good shooters in hs & then had a negative shooting Szn in college just for them to be good shooters again in the league
His form looks good. You can improve your shooting with good training and practice. I’m less concerned about that.
Awesome draft head channel!
Why is he a lottery pick if he can't shoot well and avg athletism
This draft is known as a “weak draft” and there’s a whole lot of teams out there who could use an elite poa defender
he plays like a point guard cam whitmore
I disagree that Castle doesn't have one thing that he really excels at. He super excels at finishing around the basket. That and defense. Potential superstar? Of course...if he can improve his shooting like Kawhi did.
I believe he’s a very good finisher. I don’t know if I would say that an ELITE trait for him. That being said I definitely wouldn’t rule out star potential
I would say his offensive rebounding is elite along with defense & passing iq.
I disagree. I see a good POA defender. I lean more with the consensus that his shot creation will limit him to a defense 1st guy. And we seem these are a dime a dozen.
You would need to see a leap from him on the shooting/shot creation end to be any more than just a defender. I do think he has a chance to make that leap though
Marcus Smart..
I can see some of that
This guy is starting to give me DeJounte Murray vibes which I hated on my Spurs. Castle is just not a natural PG so I would not want him on my Spurs for that reason. I’d much rather take Tidjane Salaun or Ron Holland at 8.
If not for his attitude, I'd love to have Murray back on the Spurs right now! I'll take Castle.
@@Jeremiah17seven See that’s just it it’s not only his playing style that remind me of Murray. The fact that Castle is letting it be known that he only wants to play point guard and won’t workout out with any teams that already have a point guard is also giving me full blown Murray Diva vibes.
I think that if you can guarantee a Dejounte Murray without the attitude you’re looking at a top 3 pick at least, but there’s no guarantee he ever becomes that dynamic of an offensive player, or that he’ll avoid attitude issues. Almost every lottery prospect has some degree of risk this year
@@hoophierarchy I agree
@@Tain950facts preach castle already drama queen before he even gets drafted 💯
I really like this video very well done
Appreciate it!
I'd say Castle is a far better POA defender than Dejounte Murray ever was.
Don’t disagree with that. I will say Dejounte is a much more dynamic offensive player than Castle is currently, but I wouldn’t say he couldn’t get there
LOL SPURS GOT MURRAY IN 29th pick not 4th or 8th
That's a lie
Spurs bound
Heck no not as our point guard. I’d much rather prefer Reed Shepard or even Rob Dillingham as our PG
@@Tain950so you'd rather have an undersized PG? Then stick with Tre Jones and Blake Wesley. You'd rather have a PG that doesn't play defense? Good luck guarding Luka Kyrie SGA etc. Our perimeter defense was horrendous last season. Let's just make it worse with Dilly or Sheppard
@@VictorWembanyamaSpurs I agree Rob would make our perimeter defense even more lackluster, but you have to consider his upside as a self creator and shooter is way higher than Tre's. Castle looks to be a great defender yes, but he hasnt shown any flashes of being a good shot/advantage creator to the level i've seen in Dilingham, and he doesnt pop as an athlete to me, and our spacing will suffer even worse than it did last year. Either way this draft is just terrible all around for prospects that actually solve a majority of our issues. In order id prefer Rob, then Castle, then Sheppard, but we'll likely still be terrible next year with either of these guys, theres just nothing conclusive in this draft
Why would we want dejounte murray 2.0 can't shoot for shit 🤦♂️🤷♂️one trick pony and already a drama queen with I want to go to team with no starting pg 🤦♂️
@@ericperales4505 you can teach shooting, shit Dejounte Murray improved his shooting. 😂😂😂
Really like this channel. Concise, organized and organic thoughts on these prospects.
Will say though, don't agree that Kawhi's shot was good in college. He changed it during the pre draft process and it was super notable.
Appreciate it!
Great video! If things pan out all his strength could make him a star! Still it’s likely he ends up a high end role player with his inconsistency and question marks. Still idk. As a spurs fan with the two picks I kinda wanna roll the dice on him. I think we do safe pick at 8 and goes ballsy at no 4
Appreciate it! And I could definitely see him fitting in with the Spurs. If there's anyone I'd trust to develop a player like him it'd be Pop
James Harden is my choice
I'd be surprised if he doesn't go in the lottery. Funny how people point out he has limited upside when I think he has more upside than anyone else in this draft. The upside being you can potentially get a 7'3.25" giant who can play competent defense while being skilled enough offensively that no one could guard him. It's actually weird how he's perceived. I mean Jokic is slower and shorter yet he get's no grief over his lack of defense. Another comparison would be Yao Ming
Can see him going between 25-30. As you said think he would be a solid bench option when you want a big body
Bulls would pick him at #11, he wont drop further..
He cool ...he got no dog tho
The first dunk wins it all. Its over
As a Spurs fan if Risacher isnt there at 4 (most likely), I would be pretty happy with Castle at 4 and Cody at 8
