'Senior' viewers may enjoy this a lot, because the commentary - it is 1982 - is so gentle, the audience so polite, and even the camera angles are respectful - sucking us back into the calm world of that time - in fact the same year as Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding!) Other viewers will find their own pleasures in this, I'm sure. So thanks to whoever took the trouble, J

Why, oh WHY is the meat of the break cut out? A major historical event in the game, and the record of it happening is needlessly abridged.

Whenever we discuss the greatest players of all time one cannot ignore Davis. He was the first exponent of "miss and I'll clear up." Prior to him players would get several chances during a frame. Davis would have competed in any era.

I remember watching this,i was 14yrs old, some of the commentary from John pullman😂”Four reds and four blacks, you can’t do much better than that”also expecting Davis to play safe before doubling the red,a ball that a modern player wouldn’t think twice about cutting into the right centre pocket, how things have changed,so much evolution of the game.

Watching that. It shows how break building and position play have changed over the years. The amount of times he was out of position. And look at how Ronnie makes them hardly ever running away with the cue ball.

A real gent and someone who brought the game from the shady clubs to be a family friendly game. Unlike whiney o'hooligan who is arrogant and a spoiled brat who doesn't care about the bad rep he gives it. He would have refused the final black as the prize was too small

  • @MikeJH82
