To people who say that in the US if you don't have money, you'll just die, I present to you the case of my mother, who was on the Harris County's medical program for low-income residents. She's a green card holder. Starting from November 2022, she has had multiple falls, leading to bone fractures and episodes of UTI. She's diabetic and also diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson's disease. She had visited her neurologist, endocrinologist, and family doctor multiple times in Houston, going through multiple expensive exams and getting plenty of meds for her conditions during the last couple of years in the US. Her out-of-pocket cost? About $24, total. Last October she went back to China. She told my brother and me that she did not intend to return to the US. She felt lonely here because most of her family members are in China. Both my brother and I have full-time jobs and can't provide the companionship she yearns for. Last month, she told us that she wanted to return to the US. When I asked her what prompted her to change her mind, I had expected her to mention the comfortable living in the US (She lived with my brother in Houston and he makes a very good living). Instead, she said it was the doctors. In her own words, "I enjoyed socialist treatments in a capitalist country, but experience capitalist treatments in a socialist country." She couldn't stop talking about how nice and patient Americans doctors were with her. They chatted with her and took the time to learn about her symptoms. Her medical treatments cost next to nothing. In China, on the other hand, she is constantly pressured by doctors and hospitals to go with the most expensive medication and treatments. She described them as "money-grabbers." My brother is currently in China and he's bringing her back early next month.

everything a country is, in terms of how good or bad that are happening to the lives of the population in general, is base on how much influence/control/directly deal with the country's population over their politicians and their government admin/management..... more or less, it's about how much an individual have control over their life, magnified by the populations number, and that's what makes a country great to live in....... realistically there are certain degrees and level to law/order/government rights, freedom/independence/free will, capitalism/equal opportunity/wealth access, compliant/compulsory/control over population, etch..... it's finding the best balance the population wants under best solutions-practical-achievable.... for example, if UK was run and operated like what's best of US and australia (as much as includes elimination of majorly of the population's unhappiness and dissatisfaction) then there's hardly anyone leaving UK but going for extended holidays, and never leaving UK going back and forth...... but then again, UK, US, aus have lost control of our own governments and politicians, because it's the other way around when it comes to having control and the alienation of the citizens of each country..... and in aus we're still have some more hold over our politicians and government than UK and US (ie: bureaucracy and government rights are far more severe in UK and US countries, but aus is not so far behind (as much as our politicians wants the total control over population) as aus as you have seen thinks low of politicians and still pushing for their public service employee (it's debatable when it comes in the reality, specially the power of government applied)......

Love this! I myself born and raised in London at 24 as soon as I finished my masters I moved to the uae to teach as australia was way too far for me as I like being closer to home. It's funny having both homes but I do not think there is a future for me in London as I have like many other young people been priced out. I have been in the uae for the last 3 years but somehow still have the us on the back of my mind hahaha. Can you make a video about the racial tension/gun control in the us compared to the uk. I know it is a sensitive topic for most but I reckon it would be very insightful. Both of you I am assuming being ethnic , how do you find it? one point I like is that generally anyone can be seen as an american as it is the land of immigrants. Being first generation British I never felt like I really belonged sadly

I LOVE the Mist Trail and the John Muir Trail back. If you continued on from the top of Nevada Falls, you'd be on the trail to Half Dome which is a MUST on your next adventure. I looked up the highest point in the UK and it's Ben Nevis in Scotland at 4,413' elevation. When you were at the Vernal Falls Footbridge, you were at 4,487' elevation. So kudos to you all for hiking up to the top of Nevada Falls which is almost 6,000' elevation! And Ant said that you were all doing well for older people.....I'd say you're doing exceptionally well for any age! I've taken high school kids up that trail and several had to go back to the Nevada Falls rest area since they couldn't make it to the top. I wasn't having too much trouble (I was in my mid-30s and the kids wiere 17 or 18). But Yosemite is a wonderful place to get your hike on!!! I'm looking forward to your San Francisco adventures. Won't be like hiking in the Sierras, but it has its charms.

The best time to go to Yosemite is in late March or early April going into May. It's usually not hot in the valley, mosquitos aren't nearly as bad, and the waterfalls are thunderous! My husband and I (we lived in the San Francisco area) would come to Yosemite once a month for around 20 years. However, we moved to Hawaii in 2016 and haven't been back to Yosemite since 2014. I know it's gotten a lot more crowded but it's still pretty amazing. Are you planning on climbing Half Dome? If not....put it on your to-do list but only in the spring. BTW: what Ant was calling "a lake" in the valley is actually the Merced River. It only looks like a lake since the river is so broad! I agree with Ant about the Grand Canyon - I've been there three times and each time I was wishing I was somewhere else - it's nice, but that's it. I think you'll love the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone for different reasons. The Tetons are spectacular mountains and wonderful lakes. Yellowstone (right next door to the Tetons) is famous for its thermal pools and geysers, plus the abundance of wildlife! Glacier National Park, on the Montana/Alberta Canada border should also be on your list of parks to visit - spectacular scenery with mountains and lakes. Wildlife everywhere! Some really amazing hikes and mountain bike trails. If you get a chance, come to Hawaii and explore our national parks. Volcanos National Park (on the Big Island of Hawaii) is amazing and very unique. Spend the extra money to stay at the Volcano House Hotel inside the park. Get us early in the morning and hike down into the caldera of Kilauea Volcano and see a really different type of park! The landscape in Volcanos ranges from rainforest to lava desert but there's lots of critters to see. Hawaii is famous for its snorkeling - you don't need to be a strong swimmer to enjoy snorkeling. Wear goggles and a snorkel, maybe add some fins, and jump into the water from a boat (or even try shore snorkeling). It's refreshing and you'll see all kinds of fish who just view you as a big fish!! Have fun exploring more about the country you've chosen to live in. And keep putting up your vlogs.

I am 66 years old and have been on Medicare for one year. I find it to be fine. My doctor visits are free. Hospital is free. I can get referred to a specialist anytime I want. Medicare supplement insurance, which cost between $100 and $200 a month, covers any gaps when you go to a specialist. last year my out-of-pocket cost was about $165 as a deductible.

The United States protects the world's shipping lanes and all of Europe. Without it, Europe would surely be under the rule of Communism or worse. I find it amusing that they point to the United States and criticize it for not having free health care. European health care is being subsidized by the US.

As an American, it's is the best place to be if you are built to be driven. On the other hand, 50% of the population doesn't have $400 available for an emergency. Huge swaths of people do not have health care coverage. The Country has more guns than people, and a very high crime rate in certain areas. Not sure where you live, but during my prime working years, my commute from the suburbs to NYC would often take 2 hours. If you're going to talk slavery, here you are wed to your job. If you have a materialist vision of what defines success, and you see little value in the "common good", you've certainly made the right move. Also, the current number of seniors retiring abroad is now 1 in 6.

Its very true about the Aussie-Brit relationship. We're basically just like cousins and instantly feel at ease with each other. Culturally we're virtually the same. Americans are totally different, different humour, different mindset, different language, different sports, different political system, and it's kind of amazing given how much exposure we have to them in our media.

18:57 The Brits didn’t arrive and imprison everyone. They arrived and made essentially the COUNTRY a prison for all the criminals they brought from the UK. As for the local indigenous people, they killed most of them.

Melbonite Brit here. You have some restaurants that have the QR codes on the table so you can scan the code, look at the menu and pay right there and then. A really efficient service where there’s no confusion on when to pay. Hope all is well. My favourite take on Melbourne apart from everything you’ve listed… what other place in Australia can you have ski resorts and beaches within a 2-3hrs drive from each other? History is of Australia is sad. Brits arrived but also massacred a lot in addition to imprisoning them and made them work

Uhhhh that cap is not what you think it is…. Omfg please do the most minimal amount of research into your own healthcare policy in the US. I despise people like this who misinform others about the reality of living in America. And the mindset they have that only the rich people who can afford to pay for a doctor are deserving of treatment and poor people should just suffer and die is so gross…

Tbh, I can get your perspective but the US is a very different country depending on where you live. Honestly in Oz there are just a handful of cities to even consider. There are probably as many cities(people, especially Brits just think about states)in Florida that you could enjoy living in as there are in the whole of Australia. A good friend is over from Brisbane where he's been for about 5yrs and he loves it but is starting to get bored with the number of places to visit. I never really thought that, personally. But he pointed out that about 80% of the whole country is uninhabited and to take a flight to another decent sized country is a chore whereas in the UK you have the whole of Europe and the USA you have Canada, the Caribbean or Central/South America depending on where you live. My cousin was the same. He did 3yrs in Oz and has now been back in South Florida for 3yrs. He got bored of it, too. But I guess it's each person's preference. The sad fact is that Canada, the US, Australia and many other places absolutely PUMMEL the UK in terms of ACTUAL quality of life. Although the Brits will shout out from their enforced and imaginary comfort zone, that it isn't true. Before someone British and defensive argues with me, from which country would you say "right, I've got a bit of money now, I'm going to move to the UK to just enjoy my life"? Spain, Portugal, the USA, Italy, Australia, Canada? I'll wait! Love the videos.

It was lovely to view your take on Sydney. I wish I'd never left there. Places to definitely visit are The Blue Mountains (Katoomba, Leura) - take the train up there) .. The Gold Coast and Brisbane .. and as much as other Aussies bag Canberra, truly have a few days there in our beautiful National Capital City - I love the place. If you come back in winter, check out one or two of our many ski resorts in our Alpine areas (Australia gets more snow per year than Switzerland btw) .. and if you teally want an adventure, rent a Winnebago or similar. It's been a pleasure viewing your videos. You're no doubt a lovely couple and great ambassadors for the uk. All the best and safe travels ❤👍

I've visited over twenty countries. Every one had good coffee. For you to say the US "doesn't get coffee". Or that our coffee is bad. 😮 Which you've said in more than one video. That's just ridiculous. How do you explain. The two biggest coffee companies in the world 🌎 are American. Starbucks and Dunkin. That's a lot of countries drinking our bad coffee. Perhaps it's just an acquired taste. That you don't possess. Like tea that Brits love so much. Every time I've been in England. I've had tea. And it's always tasted like dirty bath water. But I'd never say the UK "doesn't get tea". Honestly, to American ears. You're just coming across as snobby Brits. 😒

Rich people live in houses like this couple is talking about not the average Americans. Don't think the average family has 3-5 bathrooms I may know a handful that have 3 full baths. I'm in the Midwest and typical in my area is 3 bedroom brick ranch 1-2 full baths & 1/2, a basement where most have the laundry set up, lucky ones have a mud room that include first floor laundry typically connected with the entrance of an attached garage. Some family/great room add on, almost all have a detached or attached 1 1/2- 2 1/2 car garage Average size home 1000'- 1500' sq ft. Homes average price $200,000-250,000 My mail box is attached to my house right outside my door, the neighbors are on a post at the edge of the porch. But some areas the postman just drives past so the posts are at the edge of everyone's driveway. And in newer built neighborhoods some have a section at the front entrance with lock boxes and the postman only stops at the front and can deliver everything in one stop. I hope that gives you a different perspective. Not everyone is rolling in money and is living in those mansions they say are average homes.

Not many visitors to syd/mel realise that there aren't many people who can afford to live in the inner city or even near suburbs .. let alone that most immigrants and regular inhabitants all live in the far flung suburbs. When I got married and had kids, we couldn't afford to buy in those beautiful citiscapes everyone raves over, but had to buy 90km west and then commute to the city to work. Remember, not many can afford to live in Chelsea or South Kensington in the London area, likewise, who can afford to live in the wealthy, leafy suburbs of LA or NYC? All that is worth bearing on mind before considering a move to Australia. Also, bear in mind the outrageous hikes in rentals at this time .. and that's not going to slow down. As of mid 2024, vacancy rates across all of our major cities is around or less than 1% .. arriving here without a place to live due to our idiotic current government policies of allowing unprecedented numbers of immigrants in from India has zapped up rentals impossibly. Think before taking the flight to Australia or NZ.

I was born in the UK and from what I observed is that the British dream was to have a council flat and to get a state pension. Aspiration is low on the list.
