    lol I’ve seen it enough. First time as a kid on VHS with my friends. Blew our tiny little minds (no pun intended) 🤣. I later read the manga and really enjoyed them too. Much more fleshed out where the anime felt abrupt at the end. There is a scene btw where Kaneda does call Tetsuo’s name that way too… it’s just not the meme that Kaaaneedaaa became.

    Ok, now I know. My projector sucks

  • @ShmupJunkie
    @ShmupJunkie2 күн бұрын

    Unless it’s a DLP projector, most LCD based projectors tend to be that way. Most new ones have a game mode that helps. But in many cases using projection for gaming especially classic games is a toss up in terms of performance. As far as manufacturers are concerned, the percentage of buyers who plan to use it for gaming is small so they don’t prioritize it. They prioritize image processing and image quality which does impact response.

    I remember on Friday, sometimes Saturday evening we would go out to eat and then head out to the mall. Near the mall of course was ToysRus and Target. Inside was Sears, Penneys, Wards, and Kaybee Toys. Each week we got to buy a toy or video game. Decisions, decisions, decisions........Do you buy something at one of the first stores or hold off and maybe find something better! We also had a store called Hastings which was originally a book, magazine, and music store but got big into console gaming. Best of all they rented games!!! Also memories of the TV shows, movies, and music that was popular at the time. Fresh Prince, Saved by the Bell, Knight Rider. Movies like Ghostbusters, Die Hard, Goonies, ET. Groups like Queen, Duran Duran, Police, Toto, etc.

    I do have a MiSTer and it’s awesome yeah. I use it most for obscure computers like Msx, Amiga, Sharp etc but it’s great for console games too. It’s great for adjusting volume on pc engine cd games as well and turning down the effects vs the music. Wonderful piece of kit.

    Great vid! Darius Twin on SNES was the first shmup I ever beat as a kid at all, and Burst was the first 1cc I ever sat down to accomplish. Loved the vid, and I love Burst, but I do think G Darius has my heart in the series for the absolute madness of the capture ball.

  • @Marzimus
    @Marzimus3 күн бұрын

    Absolutely agree. Twin was my first game (minus Mario pack in for eight months) for SNES that I scored for fifteen bucks new. I wanted to rent it multiple times before and it seemed like destiny to kid me. Ultimately, G is my favorite cause the capture mechanic is incredibly unique. Have shown everyone I can on PS4/Switch. Core nostalgia all over the series...

    I'll miss your direct Shmup Junkie videos, but I LOVE how you are highlighting great content creators! @GojiGuy did a great job of breaking down the differences in all of these Dariusburst games, and more importantly, describing which ones to prioritize. Super R-Type III should have been the SNES top pick for graphics. Bad choices right off the bat, but this guy is also biased for Sega, so it's not really an accurate video.

  • @ShmupJunkie
    @ShmupJunkie7 күн бұрын

    😂 ok, right off the bat, saying I’m biased for Sega tells me you don’t know my channel very well. I’m actually a pc engine fanatic and biased toward the shooters on that console, despite loving them all. Either way bias is a given… that’s what opinions and picks are. And I very much respect yours too. But it’s also why I involved the community and had hundreds of people vote as well. So who cares about my opinion anyway I’m just one person. The best part for me was seeing how the rest of the community voted and presenting all those results, especially those that surprised me.

    Excellent series, and excellent sub-series! I'm more of an R-Type guy, but Darius is up there. I've got all of them. :D I play Chronicle Saviors (with DLCs) the most I think, as well as Super Darius on the PC Engine CD. I have my eye on a Taito F3 board with Darius Gaiden, as I've been collecting arcade boards (some good, some that I'll be restoring). Just picked up two Air Buster boards too. :) I really need to hop back into Chronicle Saviors again soon. It's been probably 6 months since I've played it. (house renovations, etc.)

    I’ve been searching everywhere to find out who knows the title of a side scrolling shooter arcade game which came out late ‘80s early ‘90s. You chose your character who was on what I think was a flying sea horse or something. One of the bosses was this huge snake like dragon and its whole body would create a circle around you whilst you were shooting it. Can’t find the answer anywhere and I’ve watched hundreds of retro arcade shooter videos 😭

    My friend, you are the authority on this. Granted, ive been a shoot em' up fan for over 30 years. But im happy you did a video on this, as I've had Darius Burst: Another Chronicles EX plus on my Nintendo Switch wish list for God knows how long lol. Btw, i was always a huge fan of Thunder Force 5 on the PS1. Or Darius Gaiden for that matter, that was until i bought a modified Sega Saturn from E Bay last year. I think the best way to play any shooter besides Raiden Fighters: Aces, is on the Sega Saturn. But at least now i know which version of Darius Burst to get now 👍

    So, maybe this is the summary I got for the best of Darius games : - PS/Switch : Dariusburst AC EX+ / Darius Cozmic Revelation - PC (Steam) : Dariusburst CS I have played Dariusburst CS on PC for about 230 hours in total. Great "shoot'em up" games with a lot of levels and 24 fighters in total, although finishing levels with the preset system is hard to do.

    I’m a shmup enthusiast and far from being an expert. But for me, the aspect ratio of those games are also a deciding factor. Especially on Switch, where you can’t adapt the ultra wide aspect of the AC version on multiple monitors. When playing on a single monitor, things (enemies, bullets) are just too small on screen. I know there’s a "zoom" function but it’s not ideal either as it hides a portion of the screen where enemies are active anyway. I’m curious to discover the CS version - if Strictly Limited Games ever decides to finally ship it - as I suspect I’ll appreciate the game a lot more than AC.
