Let's say we're on a boat in the middle of the ocean and we are floundering, about to sink, and most of us would like to patch the holes. The problem is that there is a faction on board who are running around drilling more holes in the hull. What do we do, ignore them and continue trying to plug the holes as they make them???? I am not black and I'm not american, I'm not even a hip hop guy. But this song hits deep. I understand that Ice Cube is speaking to his people, sending a message that the media never sends them, singing words that aren't spoken in media, so he took it in his own hands. And I don't want to be disrespectful, but I feel that positivity (not "feel good" crap), is just too strong and when we hear it, it's so refreshing, that it lifts us up regardless of who we are. I love this song and play whenever I feel I'm slowing down. I truly wish all people get to hear positive messages like this.
