I am re-watching S1. At first I thought Aziraphale was flirting with Crowley, and in S2 was Crowley to Aziraphale, but now I think that Crowley was the one who was flirting all the time. Aziraphale also, of course, but being cute and naive is part of who he is. However, for Crowley is so different and cute.

I just noticed that when the two lesbians were giving the "you're in love" talk, Nina referred to The other one as "angel" as a cute nickname, which was what Crowley was calling aziraphale forever, I think it was the writers way of saying: yeah he ment it romantically the whole time and not sarcasm or whatever.

I think far too many people have been casting doubt on Aziraphale's love for Crowley since season 2 aired. He absolutely adores him. He just expresses it differently and is struggling to reconcile what he really wants with what he feels is his calling and responsibility as an Angel. Tbh, I don't know how you could possibly watch the scene where Aziraphale gets all bashful and giddy before asking Crowley to dance and NOT agree that he's completely smitten. Some fans will argue that Aziraphale takes Crowley for granted and doesn't do enough given how much effort Crowley puts in for Aziraphale (and I get it because at first I kind of thought this as well). But first of all, I've decided I think this is rubbish because there are multiple times Aziraphale has come through for Crowley when he needed him. Secondly, I think Crowley's constant need to save Aziraphale isn't really just about Aziraphale. It's about himself, and his need for purpose. He likes taking care of Aziraphale because it makes him, who struggles constantly with feeling angry, powerless, and unworthy of being loved, feel better about himself. In return, he doesn't need or want Aziraphale riding to his rescue. Just his love, trust, and acceptance are enough for Crowley. And I think that's why Az's offer to become an Angel again felt like such a betrayal to Crowley. He felt like his Angel was saying, "You're not enough as you are." But I'm absolutely convinced that after everything they've been together and how much danger they've consistently found themselves in due to their relationship, Aziraphale genuinely just wanted to protect Crowley and create a world where they could be happy without having to run away.

Honestly, the kiss is pretty tragic when you look at the finer details. The hand that hovers and wants so _badly_ to cling to him but pulls back. The whimper as he's overjoyed but knows it can't be because of the role he took. The "Lo-" that dares fight up from his throat as his heart lurches for something it wants, yet is swallowed back down with a numb and cold "I forgive you", an Angelic act akin to saying "Let's just forget this ever happened". He's so used to being the good boy, so used to Heaven's laws, that the very concept of being in love with a demon, of throwing away everything, of condemning himself essentially, is impossible. And so all he can do is choke back tears and pretend like it's all for the best, ignoring eons of companionship and praying to God that his heartache won't last for as long.

I love how crowley is pretty much an avoidant person, he always tries to get away from problems not solve them. Then gabriel shows up and he just wants to throw hands Hope we see how their relationship was in heaven because that was Personal af

Personally I don't think it's any more complicated than that he saw Gabriel as a threat to Aziraphale. Crowley is definitely someone who would rather avoid problems than face them, but not when it comes to protecting his Angel.

Plus he was also an Archangel right? I like to imagine that means he and the other Archangels were almost siblings in some way. Or was it confirmed God just pushed him to the side to create planets and stars and nobody else interacted with him?

I think one of my favorite underrated things is when Crowley says to Muriel, "Don't hesitate to ask me if you have any other questions about love, Inspector Constable. I'll just be here helping to run this bookshop while my friend drives my car to Edinburgh." There's a sweetness and naïveté in the way he says that --- boasting about how much he knows about love while in the same breath expressing his love for Aziraphale without even thinking about it. There's no one else whose home he would protect so fiercely or trust to drive his Bentley.

After rewatching the s2 finale, I think Aziraphale was actually not being stupid or selfish, but brave and self-sacrificing. He saw firsthand how heaven tried to intentionally start a war to destroy the Earth, and he knows that if he doesn't take this position, the next supreme archangel might succeed this time. So, is this a calculated move to protect Earth, at the cost of his happiness? Or a naive pursuit of clout? We'll see in s3....
