Finally a push for more wealth taxes to decrease inequality and help those desperate who might otherwise turn to drugs and crime. Why isn’t that your conclusion?

It’s basic economics: Capital gains taxes reduce the return that entrepreneurs and investors receive from the sale of a business or asset, which then limits the reward for entrepreneurial risk-taking. The overall impact of this would result in lower levels of economic growth and job creation. If you tax entrepreneurs and investors, where is the job creation going to come from to get people out of unemployment, drugs and crime etc

I'm sorry but using his friends watch being stolen recently to predict a whole countries future is ridiculous. UK is still a great place if you have lot of money, grass is always greener on the other side. Countries in Asia are indeed good with new infrastructure etc. but the pollutions and heat will make the lives unbearable and it is only going to get worse. If you have a decent paying job and can switch off from the doom and gloom media and the hypes, you can still have a peaceful and enjoyable life imho..

Well the violent crime rate in the USA is down… way down. All crime in the USA is less than half what it was in 1993, violent crime is about 30% of what it was 30 years ago. Homelessness is also down by about 8% since 2007. Cost of living is up in the past couple years, but there was a global pandemic and global shutdown you can blame for most of that. Also, these tax hikes and those issues affect different parts of society completely. A multimillionaire is not homeless, doesn’t live in crime ridden areas, and isn’t worried about cost of living. I’m upper middle class and while I don’t like increased taxes, it’s not as egregious as you’re stating. The US tax code is currently about as low as it has literally ever been, especially for the wealthy. Coming back to something resembling normal for a first world country isn’t a bad thing.

Why should i move just because some stuck up business person or politician says i should? I certainly wont move just because an immigrant says i should. They should adapt or go somewhere else. There should be no benefits of any kind if they are not prepared to give money back to the British taxpayer.

There are over 150 in the UK government /Parliament with Israeli dual passports . Hence we see the support of the criminal genocide in Gaza . They should choose one or the other . By law . Russia does not have joint passports , and dosnt have the same problems the west has . The west causes all the problems anywhere . Along with the afore mentioned . Okay but if you actually do any research in that time you would realize that basically nobody paid that rate. They're were several taxe exempts that reduced that tax rate by a lot. @@Iceh4wkvideos You're right. Taxes then, as now, were PROGRESSIVE. Nobody paid the highest tax rates on their entire income. Didn't then, won't now. This guy, of course, leaves that out. Also, why should income you didn't work for be taxed at a lower rate than income you did? That's bass ackwards. As a minimum, they should be the same. And fwiw, I support getting rid of income tax and enacting the national sales tax on everything, along with the Universal Basic Income that goes with it (have to have both; neither will work without the other). But if we're gonna tax income, do it right.

Not to mention we were at war. PLUS we had a roaring economy and were being paid the entire United Kingdom's and Europe's GDP PLUS IOU's for loans for war supplies we sold them to fight the Nazis that would continue to pay us for decades to come. PLUS the US economy was geared for a single provider household that could afford a house and expenses for a family of 4 on the equivalent of minimum wage. PLUS there were less regulations and hoops to jump through to start and run a small business. PLUS college university tuition was roughly 1/5th what it is now to go to community college PLUS the degree actually ensured a high paying job. PLUS cost of living was less than half what it is now even factoring inflation. PLUS there was no drug epidemic. PLUS people had better work ethics and were far more skilled in the trades. PLUS the cost of resources was lower. PLUS the US had virtual dominion over the world economy after the war. PLUS PLUS PLUS I could keep going for hours and still not cover the differences between then and now. This statement^ is wildly out of context and shows an ignorant narrow view of the wider picture of the era and a poor education. Stop listening to spoonfed lines fed to you on cnn and actually study history before stating quotes and talking points you copied from Bill Maher desperately trying to sound intelligent.

This is not true. The tax rates in the 1950s were at 90% for the top 1%. In fact, Biden is just letting the Trump tax cuts expire and making minor adjustments beyond that to get the corporate and upper earners back to where they were prior to Trump. When Trump got his tax cuts through, he set the middle class tax cuts to expire in 2025 while making tax cuts for the rich permanent. It needs to be correct as Trump's tax cuts are responsible for 30% nation's national debt. Also, income is income and it should all be treated the same no matter the source. Why should income gained from sale of stocks or a house be taxed less than income from work? It's just another way the wealthiest pay a lower percentage of their income in taxes than a middle class person in the U.S. Enough!

  • @jamesloehr641
