they actually are sweat bands ;-D they prevent the (open) strings from ringing. victor who plays pretty fast stuff and does a lot of tapping needs it to get a cleaner sound. hope it helped :-)

This not an improv but a song from one his MANY CDs(albums, etc) over the years. Amazing player, caring and genuine guy. To meet him is to immediately like him as a person. I have met LC fans from all walks of life and all over the country - can't say enough about his broad reach across all real and contrived musical and sociological barriers.

I don't think I've ever said this about a group with an electric bass, but these guys are COOKIN'! Had the pleasure of hearing parts of "Live At The 55 Bar", and I really think Janek is an extra-ordinary bandleader...

What amazing tone,I tell ya besides his amazing talent that could make pretty much anything sound good,Suhr and Cornford just sound amazing together in everything ive seen and heard so far.I have a modern 24 and its amazing but my rig is tough to get that sweet jazz tone easily.Cornford seems to get there by itself..Amazing tone between the two.

They are used to dampen the strings from ringing out. This brings out the actual notes he plays.

Stanley is brilliant on any bass. I believe that is the new Spellbinder. I like the Alembic tone and headroom, through, cant beat them, can,t clip them. Clear as crystal.

Words can not describe this video! Oli is absolutely incredible and his passion shines through in this song. Janek's playing is very tasteful when he is supporting and his phrasing in his solo is beautiful.
