    Have you considered choking up on the axe while on reverse grip? Gives you something to block more traditionally while still using that axe blade in very close quarters, provided that is part of your ruleset

    That's awesome. It's a great longsword. As for the scabbard, you could email them or buy it and see if the blade fits all the way to the crossguard. I hope you win many duels with that beautiful blade.

    Just watched Shad's review of his sword and 1 thing that he pointed out is how the spikes on the sword (not sure what the term is) unintentionally functions well as a sword breakers/ the foam is strong enough to catch and secure other larp swords in larp fights.

    Reverse grip works for a dagger not a sword or axe.

  • @larpbutler4961
    @larpbutler4961 Жыл бұрын

    While a dagger can be easier to use, I fought against many dual wieldings using the same or shorter length sword on their off-hand and fight well with them. It takes practice, I prefer a dagger myself

  • @siege2310
    @siege2310 Жыл бұрын

    @@larpbutler4961 oh sure you can use a sword in your off hand. Or any weapons for that matter. But for reverse grip, let’s take a standard 1 handed sword. If your holding it in reverse grip you cannot easily perform any over head attacks, any block you do has to be moving (so you’re essentially just knocking the blow away) which means you will have to compensate for a smaller block window by moving yourself to avoid the blow if you fail to interrupt it. You guard will be left wide open as you can’t really hold a reversed sword in front of your body, and the only advantage of a reverse grip, which is increased power and accuracy when stabbing is completely cancelled out by how much harder it is to stay accurate with a larger weapon, not to mention most LARP events have rules regarding stabbing/thrusting meaning you won’t be allowed to do it with your sword. And there is not one single reason to use and axe in reverse grip. Of course if you just want to try it out and have fun then fine but if you want to use reverse grip effectively, dagger.

    reverse grip works in larp because theyre untalented. Beyond that you dont need to worry about your enemy following through. once they tap your weapon its blocked.

    Hi overall good review but i have some nitpicks First at lenght of 152 cm this should be call greatsword of two handed sword rather than longsword Second if you feel you have not enough Space for the hands you can try put your offhand on te pommel instead of removing such a Nice handle

    While I did consider this, I tried ordering from LARP Box a year ago for another video, and they couldn't deliver to my country anymore due to the change in their delivery vendor. I haven't checked in a while, but I may see if they are able to deliver to Australia.

    The scabbard is made by another company called Artisans d'Azure. Maybe you'd have more luck talking with them than with Calimacil. Even if both companies are partners, Calimacil doesn't do leather work so they can only pass on your feedback

  • @super56333

    An easy fix would have been to redo the mold for the blade and make it a couple of cm shorter... this is so dumb they did not think about fixing this issue.

  • @larpbutler4961
    @larpbutler49612 жыл бұрын

    Or keep the sword the same length and add more cm to the scabbard, both can work, though don't know if they done anything.

  • @super56333
    @super563332 жыл бұрын

    @@larpbutler4961 I thought about that, but then I don't think Calimacil make their own scabbard since they are a foam weapon company and not a leather company. I might be completely wrong, but I believe their scabbards come from a different supplier, which is why I am saying shortening the blade would have been easier. It would cost less and it would be a hell of a lot less of an hassle. Though, making the scabbard a couple of CM longer would've been ideal. I also don't believe they have done anything with that matter, heck, they discontinued the sword anyway.

  • @larpbutler4961
    @larpbutler49612 жыл бұрын

    @@super56333 that's a good point, make sense that they may have a different supplier for the scabbards. Yeah not sure if they did anything, again didn't follow up on it lol but didn't know they discontinued the product, thats a shame, the sword is quite popular from what I've seen.

  • @super56333
    @super563332 жыл бұрын

    @@larpbutler4961 My bad, they did not discontinue the sword, I was mixing them with destiny's swords for some reasons lol. I didn't quite remember which of those two they discontinued, but still, an issue that should be fixed. Especially for the scabbard price point.

    Is it flexible enough to draw it from your back like witchers do? I know you can't do that with normal long swords (only with ~50cm or smaller, which are basically big daggers XD), but I was wondering if it's flexebility changes anything about that.
