Billy, I love your teaching of the Grip from Ben Hogans book, Five Lessons. I wish you would do the other lessons, as I love the way you teach. I use your video in conjunction with the book and it really helps. Please do the other lessons and thank you! Edited - this is Jim McClean not the posteer Billy Weathersby.

This obsession with Hogan's swing is delusional. It was unique to him and no one else. You don't see baseball coaches breaking down Ted Williams swing or his grip on the bat,or his stance even though he is considered the best hitter of all time. People don't obsess over Wayne Gretzky's slap shot either. Every golfer can learn to hit the ball good with a Nicklaus or Palmer or Travino or Ray Floyd swing. 😊

Some pros don’t finish their swings well balanced. I’ll bet Hogan never was off balance at the end of a swing.

I’m enjoying the elaborate description of what Ben did, as opposed to what was illustrated in the book of the fundamentals of the golf swing. To Ben’s defense, he did say that you find the swing through digging it out of the ground.

There were quite a few things in Hogan’s five lessons that were a contradiction of what Hogan actually did. The worst one was the drawing that showed his elbows very close together, when in reality there was a great deal of separation between the elbows, with Hogans right elbow hanging away from his body and very much separated from his left elbow. And Hogan’s half swing drill also taught to keep the right elbow close to the body when Hogan did quite the opposite. It you can ever find a video that shows the camera just out side of Hogan’s right foot face on, you will see the right elbow maintains a separation from the body, which gives him width in his swing. And Hogan held the secret for his swing which was tailored to his body type, a maybe 5’8 or 9, with long arms that dictated a flat swing plane. But Hogan actually swung his arms parallel to his shoulder tilt, and his shoulder tilt was much steeper than what you would think given his address position, this along with increase knee flex on his backswing cause Hogan’s head to lower about four inches on his backswing.

Jim McLean is a nightmare, he has no idea of how skills are acquired and learning takes place, he is responsible for the frustration experienced by so many and consequently, the rapid drop in golf participation.

At 50.2 into the video, it states an estimated Swing Speed 132 mph, should that be ball speed?
