  I remember working on this ship for two years.. She come up the Tyne back in 1995 as a tanker called the Dorset.. Then made in to oil production vessel.. I always remember when it left the Tyne.. Because it left few days after lady Diana sadly past away back in 1997.. Good memories back in the day..

  ​@@blueman5924maybe also rubber and other sealants, the fill from packing glands, some residue in the tanks (possibly slightly radioactive silt from crude oil), The heavy- metal based paint from the ship? Whatever they used to insulate cables. (propably asbestos or fibreglass, lead compond based grease, mineral powder and some long- since banned plastics) Non-flammable hydraulic fluids, fire extinguishing agents, anti- slip decking, ... I think you wouldn't count the residue (but you have to dispose of it as hazardous waste), And the paint is possibly burned at the steel plant and caught as dust in the steel plant filters. (there's a plant near me where they process dust from steel plants. It's a big source of lead emissions, and their main product is recovered zinc)

  Great video sequence: Floating, loading and placed on the keel block on the floating barge, using crawlers to transfer from barge to shore considering tide condition, and then placing back on the keel blocks for further processing for dismantling and recycling.

  @@johnallen7807 Perhaps the shipbuilders should have to plan for end-of-life by investing in proper dismantling facilities with globally accepted standards, and then employ those workers with fair pay and safe working practices.

  It has been proposed but given the corruption in places like India and Bangladesh do you really think it would work unless the yards were Western owned? Then those yards would be undercut by local ones not having the same standards.@@Spookyb329

  From Norwegian governmental web site - Facilities must be removed in their entirety; only in extremely limited cases they can be abandoned on the field after ended use Pipelines are not covered by the OSPAR Convention. The choice of disposal options is determined in each individual case based on a comprehensive evaluation, where costs are assessed in relation to the consequences for safety, environment, fisheries and other users of the sea. PS - Looks like a best in class process.

  Leit å se at arkitekter nok en gang har valgt å ødelegge verandaer ved å ha klart glass helt ned til gulvet. Mange av oss som ønsker oss veranda har ingen interesse av at folk på gaten utenfor skal se hva vi har på beina. For min del er det helt uaktuelt å kjøpe en leilighet som ikke har mer skjerming av verandaen.

  Estimatet fra start var 30øre/kWh. Fasit ble 120 øre - fire ganger høyere og ti ganger dyrere enn selv naturgass. Vindkraft er ikke energiproduksjon, men religion. En sekt av fullkomne skrullinger. Den eneste fornuftige energikilde for faste installasjoner er raske reaktorer hvor drivstoffet er flytende uran(238). Raske reaktorer og flytende drivstoff forbrenner alt radioaktivt materiale. Selv vannkraft kommer til kort i konkurranse med atomkraft. Vannkraft kan ikke engang produsere energi til en verdi tilsvarende tapet av ferskvannfisk som følgte av oppdempte vassdrag. Det er virkelig på høy tid at nordmenn gjør seg av med sitt atomkrafthysteri og tar til vettet. Det er nok uran 238 for å levere elektrisk kraft til hele verden i ti milliarder år. Raske reaktorer har dessuten potensial å gi MWh for dagens pris av kWh. Norge må se å komme igang med forskning på raske reaktoerer. India, Kina, Frankrike og USA er tyve år foran. Skjer det ikke ganske snart vil Norge miste sin posisjon som energinasjon. Atomkraft vil presse seg på og vokse seg frem til å bli et folkekrav straks den demonstrerer å gi den desidert billigste elektriske kraft. Spørsmålet dreier seg kun om vi skal måtte kjøpe teknologien utenfra eller om vi vil være i stand til å være selvstendige. Toget får nå. Beslutningen må tas per omgående. Om ti år er det for sent.
