    First time I heard W/B with Pinstripes and it sounds beautiful. How much do you tighten the bass drum front head? Loose, medium or tight?

  • @DrumApe
    @DrumApe28 күн бұрын

    The heads they came with were a bit more like Emperor clear I guess, but with the Pinstripes they are much more sensitive in the quiet dynamics. They also sound more open and clear which I think complements the dryness of the walnut. Bass drum resonant and batter and medium tight.

    Я поднимаю свою голову вверх Ощущаю этот солнечный бриз Я написал жизнь как захотел Перепробовав кучу страниц Тихая ночь, тихий район Всё это не так, всё это не то Я где то не там, это не моё Па па па пам Мне в этом мире как то пусто Даже немного грустно Что я так быстро устал Я вжимаю газ в пол Я больше жить так не хочу Я выпиваю где-то две 100 И на своём porshe качу Они идут за мной хвостом Они кричат мне в след постой Они зовут меня с собой Но я ваще то не такой, бейба Я поднимаю свою голову вверх Ощущаю этот солнечный бриз Я написал жизнь как захотел Перепробовав кучу страниц И всё же давай взлетай Я же видал как ты мечтал Ну почему же себя ты предал Я пролетаю высоко, ты смотришь на меня Я пролетаю за мечтой, ты сможешь как и я Я не слышу за хохотом Я не буду горевать Ты отложишь всё на потом Но время не перематать Время не перематать Но время не перематать Время не перематать Я поднимаю свою голову вверх Ощущаю этот солнечный бриз Я написал жизнь как захотел Перепробовав кучу страниц

    Great drum sound! Great job keepin the beat too. I created a little pair of riffs that might turn into a song, will use this to get started. It's not quite long enough for what I am panning so I'll patch it up and make it longer. I'll check more of your stuff. Again, nice drum sound I love it.

    So this is just one of 2 widely known techniques for a double stroke on the bass drum. This is called the "slide" technique. The other technique is called "heel toe" technique. Cobus Potgeiter's drum covers are a masterclass in the "heel toe" technique. Great demonstration!

  • @DavidHall-zo8eg
    @DavidHall-zo8eg2 ай бұрын

    I use the heel toe technique. If you master either of these two, it's very rewarding for the drum fills you're able to do.

  • @DavidHall-zo8eg
    @DavidHall-zo8eg2 ай бұрын

    I believe the heel toe is easier to master than the slide technique.

    You can also do double stroke roll using rebound. Rebound is when you drop something solid on for example a table it jumps few times and the jump height decreases and decrease and you may also see it jumping faster when the jump is lower until until it's stable and doesn't jump again, depending on the material, it can be strong or weak, if you drop something like a stick on a table it will keep jumping and jumping until it stopped it's now standing on the table, so a hard material gives efficient rebound, so if you drop a stick on a pillow or a couch you don't get much rebound since both couch and pillow are soft, but when you play on a concrete, wood, metal or anything that is hard and solid you get a great rebound.

    Coming back to playing after 40 years off! Regarding the points he makes around 7:00, notice the foot is nearly level... allowing the ankle to freely flex both up and down. It's important to have your stool height adjusted so your leg forms an angle at the knee greater than 90° - usually about 100° or so and your foot is roughly level when the toe touches the pedal as he is showing. This is entirely dependent on how tall you are and leg length.

    What's the point of the slide? How is that different from hitting the pedal in the same spot on the pedal twice?

  • @DrumApe
    @DrumApe5 ай бұрын

    You can drive the beater harder as you add bigger muscles all the while having the benefit of using the ankle. As you get faster the beater bounces twice just like double stroke roll.
