The Mackay/Brenmer (Spurs vs Leeds match) photo was covered by ITV's Star Soccer, sadly highlights of that match have been WIPED by ITV.

FFc, Thanks for this exciting segment showing how the development of the action replay, in addition to giving viewers a second look at the action, enabled greater and better analysis of what took place. Interesting also the proposal by Match of the Day to show one main game to be followed by separate regional games.

When I saw Johnny Haynes at Goodison Park in the early 1960s he stood out in his ability to play the forward pass and always seemed unhurried. Just in my teens i thought he was like John White and Jimmy McIlroy who could link up play with ease. Back then Everton had players like Alex Young and Roy Vernon who were also highly talented and league champions. Now six decades later few players match up to these. Imagine Johnny Haynes and Bobby Charlton playing on the perfect pitches we have today all through the season. And protection from any defenders who try to cancel them out

Love the bog rolls in the back of the net. There wasn't a shortage back in those days, unlike recently. That first goal by Bobby Charlton against Spurs at OT - it's a good job they had strong goal nets in those days, he hit the ball so hard and at such an angle, still going upwards, that the ball would have ended up halfway up Chester Road, on its way to Sale.

For all Johnny's undoubted talents can't help thinking should have gone to Spurs early sixties and furthered his stellar career and let Fulham progress with emerging talents I.e. Rodney Marsh a d Malcom Macdonald. You see John y basically stunted progression, as a result it took over thirty years to recover. I know it won't be a popular sentiment but saw him play and often felt his frustration at the donkeys around him.

"Sheff Wed lost in the Cup final..." is the only "mention" of an Everton team who had already won a title this decade so far... BBC setting their agenda early! Only the fashionable Spurs and Liverpool had their "off screen" success mentioned...

MOTD started in 1964, the Sixties ended in 1969. Everton's only trophy during that time was an FA Cup win in 1966, admittedly a mention of their League win in 1963 (pre-dating MOTD) should have been made, as Spurs Double season 1960/61 was in Part 1 of this series.

Just watched an old episode of the big match where fulham beat everton in the cup in 1975 and viv was a guest on the show after scoring two goals. What a very nice and polite young man he is and very manageable and respectful to the interviewer. He is a great example of how to relate to people

Everton lost the first Merseyside derby in 1969/70 but got revenge the following March at Anfield and cruised to the title as mentioned in an earlier post. Liverpool v W. Ham was NOT the first MOTD game in colour however - nearly a year earlier on 2nd November 1968 MOTD was back on BBC 2 for one evening and Chelsea v Man City was shown in colour

I always remember watching the highlights of this game as a kid and thinking it was the best Fulham performance ever. If my memory serves me right - Keegan scored 1 pen for Newcastle but had one saved. I was hoping either the Houghton or Davies goal from the first half could win goal of the season but allthough they featured Dalglish won with his great - but phaps not as great = qualifying goal against Belgium.

Shilton: great keeper, except for that moment in 1990 when he didn't hold his line and let that crappy goal in vs. Germany, thus blowing England's last chance at a World Cup.

Man, these look like great days for soccer. I know times were a little tough in England as they repaired for a couple of decades after the war. There is something more pure in what I see here compared to what I see today. God bless England.

As a modern Fulham fan who missed this era of the club, it's absolutely incredible to see just how beautiful our play was. With this 2016-17 season just over, there are a lot of parallels between our current side and that amazing side of 2000-01...except the old team was even better.

R.I.P. Graham Leggat !!! He was a great Scottish soccer player - having the fastest hat-trick in the English League and playing International Caps for Scotland. He was a big help for Canadian soccer as a Manager and Player and was one of the finest respectable sports commentators, ever, working for CBC and TSN !!! So shocked to hear of his death - he will be missed !!!
