Should the pad stone have been mortered using lime mortar and not sand/cement as the building looks older construction?

For once someone asking a decent question !! The property was built in the 50’s so the cement used then was the sort of material used today.. so the structural engineer wanted today’s practices/materials used.. cheers for pointing it out tho 🤙🤙

Use a thinner plasterboard on the square bit, then just scrim the internal andbpatch up flush to existing plaster. You're welcome 🙏

@extendaspace-constructionc821 Hi. I'm nearly 60, so have been in the industry for over 40, plus the time I spent working with my dad. I've seen a lot of changes in the industry and a lot of new techniques introduced. I've used a triangle shaped jig to cut the cove, not sure if you have seen this. It was very accurate, whereas a mitre jig use to leave a gap in the middle. Not sure if you know what mean. Hope to see more of your stuff in the future.

That’s why I need to learn how to do this DIY on my parents house where I live. Look at all those guys on site, getting £150/200 easy. £800 a day labour easy. That’s why loft conversions cost £50,000!!! I want to do it in around £15,000.

Nice job mate. I'm just wondering if you could have used the masonry type joist hangers cut into the brickwork to support the joist ends instead of cutting all those pockets? I think less cutting would have be required but perhaps you had a reason not to use them.
