How do you handle conflict of interest issues with the attorneys you work with? How are they able to trust that you are not accepting work from a lawyer who may be on the opposite side of their case.

Are you wearing acceptable business attire? Seems more like evening wear, specifically, your low cut blouse exposing cleavage. IMO, It wouldn't hurt to role model modest clothing choices.

I would suggest reading up on _United States v. Google_ filed on 1/24/23. The lawsuit alleges that Google has used its dominant position in the digital market to keep out competitors by manipulating *search algorithms* and ad placements to favor of its own services and products, thereby sustaining its monopoly power over *search traffic* and advertising. My video was posted BEFORE the lawsuit was filed. 😉

Hi Misty! Thanks for your video. I was about to get started on making my own fillable form, but I'm not able to upload the document I need to edit. I have tried to upload it as both a PDF and a Word document and I keep getting the error below. "Can't upload 1 item[s]. Only .psd, .ai, .xd file formats are supported" Do you know what I need to do to fix this?

I think the career you are describing is more of a legal assistant or admin. When you say the salary is low, I’m interested in what you think paralegals in major markets make today. I make well over 100k and myself and most of my colleagues have Masters Degrees as well as Paralegal Certificates. We work mostly on big trials, we draft extensively and manage a large staff of legal assistants and Jr. paralegals. What you are describing might be suitable for those who have less education and technical skills. The industry is changing rapidly and the Paralegals who are making top salaries are treated with a lot of respect as legal professionals. There will always be jobs in small firms or Personal injury etc. However, to work as a real paralegal in big law, is an exciting career. One that I have enjoyed for 15 years now. Great video.

I like your videos. Ive been going back and forth on going back to school to become a paralegal and I've been watching to do my research. Your videos are great and very informative. It's given me a lot of info to go off of. My exes mom was a paralegal for 20 years I think, I've seen gotten a lot of notes and tips (and lots of wild stories) from her too. She's super supportive of me going back, which is wonderful. I love her so much. But, thank you again, for these. Im going to look for a video on billables next.

Degree useless. In Nevada, no law firm will hire you without practical experience working as Legal Assistant and they want 3 years experience. Spent 3grand on an online legal assistant program from a top 4 year college. Useless. Can't get hired. Submitted to near 400 law firms in Las vegas. They also wont hire any woman over 35. Ageism.
Nevada is a tough state. Interestingly, it was also a state that, to my knowledge, never adopted the revised ABA technology competency rules Thanks for watching!

How long did it take you to finish?
I have always aspired to work as a lawyer or paralegal, but life's circumstances have been an obstacle. Currently, as a criminal justice student, I am seriously considering pursuing a career as a paralegal once more. After taking a business law class, my passion was reignited. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to enter this field at the age of 39.
Hi Misty, do paralegals get paid for any overtime worked? Trying to understand the billable process. Are paralegals hourly or salaried employees?
I have never received overtime pay as a Paralegal. It sucks, but it's the nature of the beast. Others in this industry may have or are receiving OT pay, but not me. But then again, attorneys don't receive OT pay either. It's mostly a salary gig. But if you think about how much a law firm can charge for a Paralegal multiplied by a Paralegal's billable hour quota (if one exists), is quite honestly a mind-boggling number compared to what I get paid ... in my humble opinion. You gotta love what you do and who you do it for. Thanks for watching!
