BCP Council

BCP Council

BCP Council is responsible for all local government services in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

We provide services to around 400,000 residents from Hamworthy and Broadstone in the west to Highcliffe in the east - the twelfth largest resident population of any council in England. This scale means a higher percentage of our budget can be spent on frontline services, and less on management overheads and back-office support.

As a new, large council, only created in April 2019, we have an opportunity to think as one area for business, growth, and the prosperity of all who live here. Our scale means we can more easily plan for, bid for and win extra funding for things that are important to the people who live and work in BCP, such as housing, roads and schools.

We’re going through a period of great change - reviewing how we deliver services and how we make sure this fantastic area of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole continues to thrive.

How about the cruise ships in Southampton Docks producing more pollution than all the motor vehicles in the city, or if cement manufacture globally was a country it would be just beneath the USA and China regarding emissions. Nah, easier to go after the hoi polloi

kzread.info/dash/bejne/epqsx81qZ7LMcZs.htmlsi=hfbTU_4CxWe8pXwh This is Vikki Slade at a pro Palastinian match who gave an anti Semitic speech and put up UN flags at town hall square and wanted to twin with a village in Palastine . She is very anti Israel and this video was taken by my Jewish friend. It's shocking what she's saying. Considering there's a large Jewish community in Bournemouth. Vilke needs to apologise to the Jewish people and support them but sir synagogues . The more I watch the anti Semitic hate speech against Israel and Jews the more I feel sick.

Pfft. So you're to blame for the ever sliding standards and quality and crappy glass. You've managed to destroy your own brand and reputation even your "recycle" program is a scam, only offering to sell you a new bottle that wont fit any of the older bottles, instead of allowing people to send in there old bottles to be refilled! And as for you having lower costing lqmps for those struggling. . Yourblrices are a joke compared to the rest of the market sellimg around the £30 range. Greed is the problem here. You're quite happy to ruin the prices of peoples houses to accomodate travellers at an unsuitable site. I can't imagine travellers wanting to be smack bang in the middle of a town anyway, it could be potentially dangerous for them. The site would work much better as a nature reserve. Why are you so against alternative sites?

No one wants a 20mph limit. We are already wasting millions on minority cycling lanes etc. It is alos unenforceable. Stop the anti car agenda which is alos seen in parking changes. 20mph is fine outside a school in shcool time otherwise it s a watse of money

Listening to Vikki Slade and lookiong at the comments made at the time. Commenting on speed limits - I live in Parkstone - BH12 - and most road are "rat runs". As there is no policing of the 20mph speed limits on the minor roads, I cannot see how changing any speed limit is a practical proposition. No pint of having a speed limit if a number of drivers ignore it as there is no-one to monitor it! Same comment on electric scooters - nearly been hit on the pavement a number of times by people using these on the pavement - again - never any sign of policen in the area to pick up on these people.

Seems to me that the roads around Poole Park are inadequate to cope with the daily traffic. Been down here since 2015 and cannot remember any radical road improvements other than catering to bicycle users - who must ne invisible as i see VERY FEW!

So in spite of likely overwhelming opposition to the proposed 20MPH speed limits you are quite clearly determined to impose this policy upon local residents/tax payers, that in reality, has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with your blinkered views around environmental issues. Your arrogance is staggering, more so because there will be a significant financial cost associated with this.....whilst you are claiming that BCP council has major budgetary constraints.

  • @BCPCouncil
    @BCPCouncil4 ай бұрын

Hi, Roads across our country are still dangerous places and we shouldn't accept the level of harm that is caused by road traffic crashes. We are looking at ways to improve road safety by introducing 20mph as the default speed limit across the urban areas of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP). Other councils across the UK have already implemented this in their urban areas, and we would like the BCP area to benefit from the improvement to public health and safety that a 20mph speed limit brings. Some roads would be exempt based on need and capacity. It is also likely that the roll out would take some time, as we work alongside communities to consult on and implement changes to their areas and find ways of funding the change. We have a paper coming to cabinet in April around 20mph zones. Should any potential new limits then be proposed, we will conduct a full public consultation before making any final decisions.

I go out in ny car about 2-3 times per week (where there are cycle lanes) in the past 12 months I have counted roughly 12-15 cyclists. either i drive when cyclists are not about OR they are a small minority having a lot of money spent to help which they do not appreciate.

Im a cyclist, walker and motorist. My observations agree with Brians that several of the completed lanes are not being used. In fact the south side lane of Whitelegg way was pointless from the start, there is a slip road that runs parallel for much of the route. Likewise parts of Castle Lane East. Just by building cycle lanes where it is convenient does Not make cyclists use them for fun. I told councillor Mike Green a few years ago that good places to build cycle lanes would be along the main M1/M2 bus routes where most Male bike users can be seen on the pavement causing nuisance to pedestrians. Ham Lane is another waste of a cycle route, that cost even more due to the added cost of moving a hedge near to Canford Bottom. And for the record most BCP female cyclists are much more likely to follow the highway code.

£29m has been spent on another block of luxury accommodation for BU students whilst the Princess Road site for social housing in Westbourne remains undeveloped after several years. So many residents are desperate for a permanent place to live. Are the priorities right?

Why not let people camp on the beach? As long as they clean up after themselves and leave it as they found it let them be. Lots of people like to walk the trails which can take several days and need somewhere to put their head down overnight. If they ARE being a nuisance then fair enough but not if they aren't causing an issue shouldn't be a problem.

The cost of energy is constantly on the rise, affecting everyone from homeowners to industry and drives up prices of goods and service's. Will BCP and / or Dorset Council revisit looking into wind turbines, whether at sea or on land? These are in use elsewhere around the country and indeed, the world. And we can't keep using the excuse of area of natural beauty or UNESCO world heritage site - turbines are already installed in places such as Cornwall and Yorkshire - places of equal importance to our own and just as stunning to visit. We need cleaner and more affordable energy and need to start looking to provide more energy here in Dorset, rather than relying on everywhere else. There are firms in this country that build them, even as local as on the I.O.W, so really can't see why we're so behind on this?

Potholes/Street repairs - the website report it feature is clunky and complex, an app would be great. See it, take a picture of it, send it, link with what3words for exact location, description/comments box. Done from a logged in account so you dont have to input data each time. This could apply for trees down, floods, damaged signs etc
