    Thanks for sharing. Nice to see splitboards tested in variable conditions. That's often when I would use mine. Like you, if there is powder to be had at the resort, I'm opting for that and being able to get laps in. If the outrun wasn't able to be skated, keep in mind that you can ski-skate back without skins on.

    Would you choose a 156 or 159? Since you are only 150lbs I would assume 156 best fits your status. But on the review you seems to be really enjoying the 159. Does that means the board shines better at a longer length?

    1:27 😨 breh.. hahahn And 1:40 🤤steeeze! My favorite trick and you nailed it.. as good and steezy as Scott Stevens. Hey, how loose (in a good way) is it? I'm a big fan of the Ultrafear Reverse, because it's amazingly loose for spins on flat (Like this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaGJk66shNzSe9Y.html&ab at 0:59 mark) and (IMO) it can also carve when I want to go fast. But was thinking about getting a SB Resort due to so many good reviews despite now being the biggest fan of positive camber. I can make it work well, but pos camber boards don't spin as good as flat ones like Ultrafear Rev... So I am afraid of being too "hooky" for flat ground spins though. So I am between this one, the good ol' Ultrafear Rev, and the Rome Party Mod (which is also flat and has very good reviews).

    Thanks for the support Will, don't have a Patreon as of now. Trying to decide if that is something everyone would be interested in for this upcoming season. Hard to say what the 'best' pow board would be because there are so many sick options out there. I've obviously really been loving the Mega Detah for Colorado and Japan Pow but a few other awesome options are the Burton Hometown Hero, Capita Navigator, Jones Flagship, Lib Tech Orca just to name a few

    I grew up riding Tahoe, mostly Squaw, got a job there straight out of high school working P-lot so I had maximum ride time. And, I can say without a doubt, in the 90s anyways, Burton was the best hands down. You got on Burton and off whatever else you were on, and the Burton, in one run had you literally 10x the rider you were a run prior on something else. No exaggeration there. I rode my last seasons on a Custom before I moved to Hawaii and basically stopped snowboarding…I also blew out my ACL snowboarding, which is why I sorta moved on to warmer places. Long story short, I decided to go on a snowboard trip for the first time in decades and am playing catch up on gear and tech advancement. A buddy I surf with here is a pioneer of snowboarding who was Sims’ VP in the 80s, responsible for writing Craig Kelly’s first contract. His grandson is a sponsored grom in Alaska and tells me the tech has caught up and Burton isn’t really the leader anymore. For an old school guy like me, it was hard to believe, but he convinced me to buy an Orca, even though the LibTech I had growing up was a complete dud and held back my progress. I’m hoping the tech has indeed caught up and all the boards are similar with regard to their performance levels. My OG 90s custom, last time I rode it was still awesome. I’m hoping the Orca gives me a new perspective, but doesn’t hold me back any. I want to bring one more board, and I’ve been looking at that Aeronaut thinking maybe it’s the best of both worlds, and has that Custom feel I was always accustomed to, but adds in some of the tech I have yet to experience myself. But it’s hard teaching an old dog new tricks, and so I’m torn between buying the Aeronaut and a new Custom X. It’s just so hard for me to believe that Burton isn’t the best anymore.

  • @mikeuptegrove
    @mikeuptegroveАй бұрын

    I grew up riding Burton Customs in Tahoe in the late 90s, been surfing the last 25 years in Hawaii, but planning some snowboarding trips trying to catch up with all the tech. Last time I rode my late OG 90s custom it went rad and I still beat everyone down the mountain. All I know is cambers I suppose. I see Capita makes this board in a 156W and my 90s Custom is a 156. I’m 5’11 165lbs, size 10 vans boots. You think since this board is, “narrower than normal”, going a 156 wide over the 157 is the way to go? I looked at the specs the side cut radius are the exact same. The nose and tail are like 6 to 8mm wider, and the waist width is 7mm wider. Is the Aeronaut 7mm narrow than a, “normal”, board? I don’t know anything about specs. I just charged the Custom all my life as my board of choice growing up. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️ Also, is Burton dead? When I was a kid it was heads and shoulders over everything else. I got an Orca based on a recommendation, but would like to have a new two board quiver for my trip. I’m an old school “jacket flapper”, resort rider who likes pow and side kicks. Thanks for your thoughts.🙏🤙✌️

    Thanks again for a great season of reviews/ presentations. How would you compare Capita megadeath with Jones stratos? I don’t do park, but mostly powder/trees/groomer. If you can compare the dampness on uneven terrain / float in powder/ carving experiences for both boards. I always hear that capita is geared towards park thus the hesitation and leaning towards Jones Stratos. I would appreciate your recommendation. Thank you.

  • @SearchofSnowboarding
    @SearchofSnowboardingАй бұрын

    In the past, Capita was oriented towards park riding, but that has changed and the Megadeath is the last board I would bring in the park. The Megadeath is going to have to nose that will help float better in powder as the Stratos has a shorter rocker section in the nose. They both carve and hold a great strong edge, but the biggest difference is how much lighter the Megadeath is than the Stratos
