Joe Goes Over

A guy named Joe goes over things he likes, mainly Scooby-Doo related material, but with a few videos scattered hither and yon having nothing to do with our favorite cartoon canine.

I always thought that the Viking episode took place in Minnesota, even if they don't have a Viking Lake there. Also, if this story took place in Canada, the cop would likely be a RCMP officer and not a sheriff, as they did use the RCMP as law enforcement officials in previous episodes set in Canada.

The Creeps/Crawls, Green Phantom, Inheritance plot was likely recycled from an earlier Flintstones episode were Fred had to spend the night in his "deceased" uncle's mansion in order to get his inheritance, while being hassled by constant threats from the uncle's staff members (Sorry if this has already been mentioned).

  • @JoeGoesOver

That's a clever hypothesis. Others have mentioned it could have been a German U-boat, so it's possible that near the end of the war it took minor damage or was captured by the Allies and the crew did a poor job scuttling it and it somehow managed to arrive on the sea floor remaining mostly together. The problem with that is it would have been on the ocean bottom for over thirty years and it's unlikely the hull would have maintained integrity from the corrosive seawater. It'd have also been very encrusted in barnacles or possibly even turned into a coral reef. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I think the Futuristic Monster's scheme might be one of the most unique schemes in the franchise. It's certainly possible that I'm forgetting somebody given how many crooks have been unmasked over the years, but I honestly can't think of any other episode in any incarnation of the series where the culprit's main goal was to swindle people. The closest I can think of would be either Professor Wayne trying to steal Ingstrom's marine life communicator or the Oakhaven publicity stunt. But the marine life communicator did honestly work, Wayne was merely going to steal the credit for it. And though the witch was a fake, the residents of Oakhaven did everything in their power to fulfill that promise and provided a genuine puritan village experience. Von Klamp and Grady however were trying to profit off of what is essentially an oversized version of a kids toy that lights up when you hit the button.

Scooby-Doo in Creepy Cruise. What a plain title, it's descriptive enough, but not as flamboyant as many other titles. I don't know the legal jurisdictions of being on a cruise ship, but I'm sure that there would be debate over which court would handle the case of a possible swindle at sea. If the time travel device seemed legitimate enough, why would Fred and the gang even want to investigate? Did they ever express any skepticism that something nefarious is about? I think this would actually be a good setup for something else: suppose after the time travel mishap, one or more investigators are suspicious and talk to the Scooby gang. Upon hearing that they're unlicensed private investigators, they could hire them to check out the time machine and monster some more, thus establishing that they do get paid for work occasionally. Well I guess they go investigate cause someone's missing. But I still think my point still stands 15:46 Actually when Grady tells Shaggy and Scooby what he (as the insect monster) will do, that gives it away right then that the whole operations is a scam. If the device was a real time traveling thing and took a creature from the distant future, how would that creature know what happened? If it's smart, it may know it went back in time, but it wouldn't know exactly how long ago.

  • @JoeGoesOver
    @JoeGoesOver8 күн бұрын

The generic title is even wilder when you consider this is one of the few episodes that GOT an actual "title card". Despite what you see in my videos, most of 'The Scooby-Doo Show' didn't get title cards; they just opened with the episode immediately. I prefer opening my videos with a title card to keep things consistent, so what you see in my stuff is actually a fake title card I pieced together to look as close to what it would have looked like back then. Good question as to the legal jurisdiction and I regret not thinking about that at the time. My understanding though is that just because the crime happened in international waters, it would be prosecuted by whatever country the ship sailed under. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I am sorry for you lost. I also lost a cat almost a year ago, so i know the feeling. Speaking about Scooby-Doo, the Creepy Cruise is one of my favourite episodes specifically because of the original and interesting plot. Aside for the plan itself, the way they catch the monster is very original and the gang show their cleverness more then in the average episode. This time they couldn't just set a trap and hope for the monster to get catch in some way, since the bad guys had no reason to wear their costume ever again after basically succeding. I am surprised though you barely touched on what's the most confusiong element of this episode to me: the olograms. I don't understand when and why they got used. Let's go trought all of the monster's appearences: first, there is a brief shot on him in the time machine when they . This is already very confusing, but my interpretation is thata there was some kind of holgraphic device inside and it got accidentally activated when the time machine got smacked. However this is not how they disks are established to work, they need an outside laser that doesn't fit inside the machine and if they where projecting it there on purpouse, then why since no one saw it? The second appearence is when it grabbed the professors, and that's was defintly Grady. Then we see it on the ship multiple times and here is where the final summation implies the holograms where used, expect every time the monster shows up we see it interacting with the physical world, doing stuff like grabbing Shaggy and Scooby or opening doors. The final apperance is when it would have made the most sense for the disks to have been used since we see the monsters being grabben by a laser shot by the time machine and even briefly levitate, something that grady or the fake machine couldn't have done, unless they invented a levitation device wich they should have proposed to the investors if that was the case. However this can't be the case either since the monster grabbed the moneys, something that an immage couldn't have done. So aside for how they staged this last part, when exactly the monsters was an immage? And why the writers bothered to include this bit since aside for the final scene the monster never shows anything that couldn't have been done by a regular human like legitation or teletrasportation? As for the marketability of the decice tought, if this is an universe where a run of the mill projector can make realistic immages maybe is not so special of a device. As for the professor inviting the kids, to be fair i don't think the gang is famous yet in this continuity, so he wouldn't know they are mystery solvers. It's still a risk to involve more witness then necessary though. As for the kidnapping yeah, it was unecessary, the only reason i can't think of is that they wanted to buy time so that it would have been easier to convince the investors to give the money before the machine got fixed if they where closer to the deadline. But they could have easly done that by having the professor pretend to struggle more with reparing the time machine, sure the gang could have investigated regardless, but Grady could have been more able to direct them elswhere id they wheren't looking for anything in particular. I also add that locking Shaggy and Scooby with the professor would have been pointless since they planned on him to be rescued so they would have been rescued as well. I agree the creepy heap was goofy, bur i onestly see fhe design as original. While not well executed, having a mismash of things is surely an interesting approach that should have at least granted a few points for not going the easy rout with just one type of creature, even if they failed to execute the idea properly. I also though the souless captain could have been mentioned in outfit expecially since you put his face near the monster's. I understand why not since it's a very low effort disguise that doesn't even really disguise him, but it makes sense for what it was supposed to be and i weirdly found it kinda creepy altough more for the orrific implications then the desing itself. As for the plan, i had the same question about payment. I wonder if that's a crime that actually happens in real life, and if so how it works. I remember reading a Mickey Mouse italian story with a similar premise and i am trying to find it since i don't remember how it was handled there, but i have really to many comics in my house! However is whorty pointing out that this one of the few times it's explictly said the villain had a whole gang, we even see them all crammed up in a police bus in 😮the end even if we don't see their faces. This lead credence to the idea that Clemmes was affilied with the mob or at least some kind of criminal organization so it would make a lot of sense that they where realeasing their members instead of random criminals. I overall enjoyed this episode too, it's also an interesting twist that the monster costume this time around have been wore by multiple people instead of having a single identity. Incidentally we are gonna see this same exact scheme again in the next season! But first we are approaching aliens invaders. That's probably the least notable and more standard of the reinacence movies, but rewatching it i found it surprisingly enjoyable. The pacing was good and i like Amber and Cyrstal a lot. The villains this time around would be much more straightfoward than the ones from the previos two movies. No weird supernatural schemes, difficultly in establishing what the disguise is or multiple villains this rime around. I don't know if they are gonna take much since the costumes are unoriginal and, imo, goofy (they look like broccoli to me) and the plan is also standard, but at least is profitable, they put a lotnof effort with special effects (altough more props then psrts of the disguise) and they attempt murder so maybe they would still get an above average score. Probably the most interesting part about them is that they actually shift goals midway trough to try to capture the real aliens, wich could be discussed in operation if anywhere. I overall really enjoyed the second season, aside for maybe the viking one every episode was at least memorable to me evennif sometimes for the wrong reasons. Incidentaly when i was edingting this comment i had this video on and i caught the haunted bone gag i missed the first time. Good one!

Thank you for your kind words about Lyoko. It sucks she had to go so quickly after Big Kitty, especially as she only made it to twelve years when our older one was a few months shy of twenty! While watching 'Creepy Heap', I couldn't help but remember that a certain shark-skiing metalhead in a future episode ALSO ran a prisoner smuggling operation. A plan so unique that Hanna-Barbera couldn't even wait a year to reuse it! A lot of the time, the technology Scooby villains use, particularly when they involve projectors or holograms, is just so far out there, you have to just shrug and write it off as cartoon physics. Otherwise, EVERY video would be discussing how silly it is, and that'd get pretty boring! It is rare that a costume gets worn by more than one villain at a time. From what I've seen from KZreadrs who discuss Disney Land, here's hoping the costumes get WASHED between wearers, or else... yuck. I'm in the middle of working on 'Alien Invaders', so with luck, it will be live in a week or two! As always, thanks for watching and commenting!

Okay, I love the way the Scooby Gang trick the villains into leading then to the stolen goods. That is way above their usual level of detective work.

You're not wrong. Usually it's a lot of bungling until they trip over Scooby or something. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!

I thought Witch McCoy was terrifying when I was younger The Scooby-Doo Show had some of the creepiest monster designs of the Golden Era

I can see why some would find her creepy, but overall most witches in the Scooby-Dooniverse are just old ladies. Then again, growing up with my grandmother, you'd think I'd find old ladies scary as hell! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you for saying so and thank you for asking. I'm the kind who tries to focus on thinking about other things when grieving, so this channel of mine has been very handy for giving me something to do to keep my mind off things.

Back to the Seasonal Scoreboards! WHERE ARE YOU Season 1- 2.9 Season 2- 2.5 THE NEW SCOOBY-DOO MOVIES Season 1- 2.5 Season 2- 2.6 THE SCOOBY DOO SHOW Season 1- 2.8 Season 2- 2.8 I definitely think that the muted yellow dented the intimidation factor of the Creepy Heap. When the creature showed up in the game Night of 100 Frights, it has a much better and more saturated color palette, with bright orange for the majority of the body and red highlights on the claws, feet, and lips. The kelp "hair" also stood out on ends rather than falling into a mess, making the creature appear much more lifelike and unhinged. Just goes to show how much the little things can impact a monster design.

As often as I see the games show up in the comments, I really should take the time to visit them at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting! It's interesting to see how much the series seem to be averaging out the way they are.

In regards to the future monster, I'm guessing Zorak had something to do with the design.
