I love it how different skills boost each other: fabrication boost gardening in this case. I forgot aboutg that until I saw it again in this video. Fishing does boost it to, by being furtelizer. And gardening itself boosts cooking, nectar making, as well as flower arranging.

Thank you for your thoughtful takes on each of these games and for showing the primitive nature of today's cooking games. Compared to other game genres, this one looks like it's stuck in the stone ages. Most of them could have been released in 2003, and there's been little to no evolution in food details and sound simulations of food cooking. I hope someday there will be an actual AAA cooking game with ridiculous levels of realism thrown into it. For me, cooking games are about the look of the food and the sounds of cooking. They're relaxing - and can also be challenging if they're timed. I have no idea why they don't make a "Bear" type cooking game where you're working with PS5 levels of realism.

we need a good cruise line simulator. We could start small as a lake tour cruise company gain money and recognition and eventually build our company into a luxury cruise line company. We could design our ships, hire entertainment, hire crew, hire staff, buy a cruise company private island. We could manage pricing, and pick ports of call based on customer interest and the price to cruise to that port. We could decide the quality of the food, entertainment, and shops on the ship, which would impact our earnings as well as the type of passengers we would get. This could be very fun.

See I'm like "yeah other games look cool too, I wanna play them" but then I'm like " but I already got Planet Coaster (and Planet Zoo)...might as well go play those ". And by play I mean build...I have parks closed I really don't care about guests I just wanna create and build.

I've always found Planet Coaster to be less of a management game and more a builder's game. For management, something like Parkitect feels more the vibe and harkens back to the reigning champions (RCT and RCT2) more than most others. As someone who probably enjoys management more, and doesn't have the time or resources to invest in building, I'll always lean towards Parkitect and RCT/RCT2/OpenRCT2 more, which is not to say there aren't fun building mechanics in those games. Thankfully, there's a ton of ways to get creative in those great management sims. I'll have to check out Indoorlands, though. It seems like a interesting contender for my time.

I still think RCT3 is my favourite. Could be nostalgia, but I think it just looks great. Even better than planet coaster which feels like it's missing something. And you can build awesome stuff without spending too much time or feeling overwhelmed (unlike Planco). Basically it's the classic games with 3D graphics, but without the complexity (RCT2 is even more complex IMO).

I still love RCT1 the most - its simplicity makes building nice looking parks by far the quickest out of all of these while still having a nice degree of customization. And its scenarios are *still* unmatched (though Parkitect's scenarios come close) and the most convenient way to accurately play them today is in OpenRCT2. When it comes to sandbox play, I still feel OpenRCT2 is punching well above its weight considering the age of the base game - communities like NewElement have been producing jaw dropping parks that rival the prettiest creations in Planet Coaster for the past two decades.

Heyho, thank you for your very helpful comparison. I find myself looking for a new management game in a fresh setting like education. Academia and Let's School are the two contenders and I can't really decide. Somehow I gravitate towards Academia (having built, managed and just watched a model prison for hundreds of hours in Prison Architect), but Let's School looks more interesting and new. Somehow it reminds me of Project Hospital (the best management game of all time, even if the management aspect is not thaaat deep). If I had more time on hand, I would look at both games ... but since I tend to sink a lot of time into management games, I have to decide for one. :D By the ways, you found yourself a new subscriber!
