We are Brodi and Autumn and we have lived on the island of KAUA'I since 2010. Brodi's family has deep roots in the islands for generations. His Grandmother is of full Hawaiian descent and his Mother was born and raised on OAHU. We own Island RIDE Kauai, a fitness studio in Lihue and Brodi is a helicopter tour pilot with Island Helicopters. Brodi found while doing tours that people are so misinformed about KAUA'I and in part it's due to people not from here doing videos about KAUA'I with little to no knowledge of Hawaiian culture. This is the foundation that launched our channel. We are ambassadors of ALOHA and request that all comments are presented RESPECTFULLY and stay RELEVANT to the topic. If you want to know more than just the "Top 10 things to do" then we are the channel for you. We share how to travel with respect to culture and property, where to eat, where to stay, what to do and how to relax and unwind!

My life is so stressed out that a reminder of the peace and tranquility of Hawaii just reminds me it has been far too long since my last trip
I got to spend 6 days on Kauai and I fell in love with the island.
Another great video. It was nice to pretend we were out on the water with you! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great to see a video from you 🌺🏝️!! Hope to see more in the future 😊
SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
I keep thinking that’s not Nawiliwili but it has to be.
It is! haha
We enjoyed our time there again this year
My heart is broken and I cry every time I see the photos or videos. I was never able to travel there but my late father lived in Lahaina for years and fell in love with the magic of the island. Do you know of any Kauai businesses or foundations that have a fund going? I want to donate but I want make sure it actually goes to the people in need!
I was just there in April and this is so heartbreaking. All I can think about is how many people just have nothing right now because of the fire, as well as about the first responders, firefighters, medical staff and what they are dealing with. Prayers for everyone on Maui.
WTH Happened?? 😢. This is crazy The Banyon Tree is gone ?! I’m So Sad. This is Terrible. Sending Prayers. I can’t believe This 😢
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome! Thank you for your kind comment. :)
Lame video can't see anything but smoke. The news shows much more
Well shoots professor. I'll let our friend that shot the video with his iPhone from a moving helicopter with the doors off in the early morning hours in low light with a lot of smoke still in the air know that he failed Mr Waterman's KZread video class. Dang, tough class this semester.
So far, all aerial footage was shot from different people, using their phones, from this helicopter. The town is still smoldering with a large amount of smoke blowing over the coast. Why don't you fly to Maui and rent a helicopter and show us how to film a smoldering town with a large amount smoke in the air from a helicopter?
The whole world Loves the islands. We mourn your loss.🌺❤️🌺❤️
As a 35yo that lives here, I have ZERO sympathy for these wealthy home owners. They left 99% of the land on maui as open grasslands that was ripe for wildfires to spread rapidly. Why did they do this? Because rich white boomers were scared of brown kids being in their neighborhoods so used zoning laws to price out the next generation from buying a home by artificially jacking up the price of housing for the young. That empty grassland, had it been developed for homes for my generation would have been less likely to burn down but instead zoning laws passed by the homeowners were used to prevent this with no concern about the young. Cry me a river, where was their concern about my generation being priced out of housing by their policies? They got affordable housing and now want the young to not have the same opportunities they had. These same people protest whenever a small apartment building is proposed and do everything in their power to prevent other land being developed. I hope they go through the same hurdles they made for others and lets cross our fingers most did not have fire insurance. This fire would not have spread rapidly if the grass fields had been developed.
I did not know that it is this bad.
Good time to plan now for retreat away from the shoreline. Sea levels are rising faster and the rate of change due to climate change is irreversible & undeniable.
Need Canadian planes that drop Large amount of water 💦 on fire pluse fire retardant !!!
They couldn't do aerial drops due to 60 mph winds.
Thank you for posting this. My family is sickened by the loss. We come every year, and we will return, to help.
I would always discuss with my family about visiting somewhere new but my heart always wanted to return to Maui. Lahaina holds so many precious memories for me. I took my mom there for the first time in honor of her 70th birthday. She is no longer with me. She never stopped talking about her amazing time there and how beautiful and kind the people were to her. I am just so heartbroken for all affected by this tragedy. I hope they find strength, comfort, and peace. I’ve been just looking at our many photos in Lahaina all day long. What a tragic loss🥲💔
Power lines caused fires when blown down by high winds. Utility should have turned off the power.
Thought they couldn’t even use helicopters to drop water or flame retardant… how is this guy just sightseeing???
Read the video description. I explained exactly what this video is about. THEY ARE NOT SIGHTSEEING!!!!
This is shot in the morning, after the hurricane winds died down.
I just flew out of there on the 6th and stayed at a hotel called the outrigger for a whole week starting from the 31st. My heart goes out to those folks in Lahaina. Absolutely devastated this happened. There’s only one main highway in and out. Keep the locals in your prayers. They are the life blood of that island.
It's almost like Hawaii is unaccustomed to having forest fires. I guess climate change has nothing to do with this......
Cannot believe the destruction. Absolutely devestating
Aa a kanaka mauoli, this is so heat wrenching 💔😭to see the birthplace of my great grandmother destroyed by fire! Praying 🙏🏻 for Maui & all the people who lost everything 😢💔🙏🏻
Ancient ones protect our people on Maui,as you hadprotected me when i lived there.❤
OMG everywhere around the world on FIRE! So horrible.
So grateful we were able to visit Lahaina in January. Love and prayers of safety and recovery to everyone.
The Pioneer is gone. The Banyan tree is visible but will it survive? Unbelievable damage all around. Tragic.
All that water is no way to put it on the fire
One thing I've been concerned about with where I'm at with the intense heat this year I'm currently in New Orleans, and this city burned down twice in it's history.
Prayers for HAWAII 💛🙏
Was just there a few months ago. It was so lively and at the same time so full of history. Unfortunately it was also a very dense little town which no doubt made it extra challenging to contain the fire. It's unbelievable that a town can just disappear like this. I hope the fatality numbers are kept real, real low...
Sorry to give you a thumbs down. No reflection on you who were kind enough to share, but I can't hit the like icon. I am thousands of miles away and I am absolutely crushed. In early 98 I moved from FL to Lahaina. I lived on the north end of Front street near the cannery. I have such wonderful memories of that town and the people who became friends. I moved to Puako in early 99 and I saw that even Waikoloa was hit by fires. My heart is broken, but I gladly share the pieces with all my ohana inhabitants. 💔
A lot of the homes still look intact in this video. Based on the news, they talk like the whole town is gone. Just saying, I pictured it worse. Glad it looks better than my imagination. Still sad for those who did lose their life and/or home. Fortunately, homes can be rebuilt.
That's why they call it fake news, another channel I watched said the town was completely gone, and channel said part of it. All for views and ratings. Sad.
Tune into KHON news Hawaii and get the real story, not some mainland reporter exaggerating the fire.
I am just devastated. This was my favorite place on Earth. I visited so many times. My heart is shattered for the residents. All the charm and history of Lahaina is forever changed. 💔🥲

Why can't choppers scoop up water from the ocean and drop it on the fire. Something telling me it's being done deliberately by power that be.
They couldn't use helicopter an planes due to the high winds that caused the fire to spread that quickly. All firefighting had to be done from the ground.
Such a weird situation getting high winds on the leeward side of the island. Leeward being bone dry.
I've lived most of my life in Hawaii. The hurricane was far away but the winds come in a circular fashion so the direction can seem unusual. So, maybe it's like an outer ring of the storm? I don't know. ...
I have been thinking about you. And I have been praying In Jesus Name. He will provide for all of you there in Maui. And eara
Finally it's not California suffering the devastation
This is heartbreaking to see. We visited Lahaina for our honeymoon and loved it instantly, it's like losing a close friend. But you will be back and be stronger, best wishes and prayers for everyone affected ❤
This is insane. Do they have any Air support for firefighting? Is 1 dose of salt water so bad they cant use it? How did this get so big?
*_THE END IS HERE FOLKS!_*
That's some terrible low resolution video. Try again.
Dang, you're right, I'll let our pilot friend know that the video he shot with his iPhone from a moving helicopter with the doors off in the early morning hours in low light with smoke filling the air when they were doing a flight to assess the damage that the video he shared with us for the people that were concerned about Maui is terrible. Thanks.
Bad visibility is due to the smoke coming from the town. Next time there is a devastating fire on Maui they will remember to bring their high resolution IR camera in order to make you happy.
Thank you @NICU_Guy you are the voice of reason on this thread. Some of these comments have me dumbfounded.
Sad soooo sad. RIP all victims
We were there in 2010 , wow tragic and heartbreaking
So sad, we stayed here a few months ago Lahaina shores resort. All those shops and restaurants are gone 😢
My heart is broken. This was the most beautiful little town. Prayers to all who have been affected.
Really was- an intimate place- recall the structures shown aflame on the news
it's too bad Hawaii looks like that-- over dense construction, denuded of greenery. Maybe a greener growing soggier environment wouldn't burn as easily?
It's the west side of the island. Google the west side of any of the Hawaiian islands and you'll get a better idea of the environment.
I’m so heartbroken for the loss of human and animal lives, historic buildings, homes, businesses, farmland, and magnificent trees that will take generations to fully regrow. Thank you for showing us the true extent of this unthinkable tragedy.
