School of the American Rifle is a Technical/Armorers Training Course located in Elkton MD, that focuses on the popular and modular, direct-impingement AR15 rifle, carbine, short barreled rifle, and pistol.
Our Gunsmith & Instructor "Instructor Chad" is dedicated to guiding his students to develop a deep and thorough understanding of the AR15. Our training philosophy is simple, we strive to give each student an intense and intimate understanding of their AR15 that rivals the knowledge that many professional Gunsmiths and Armorers possess.

I don't understand why people take pride not maintaining their firearms clean or fairly clean at least.
PSA fan boys will say this video is fake.
Chad, does the magazine need to be empty to check for bolt carrier belly clearance when the upper is attached to the lower, the mag is inserted, and the carrier is slid back N forth checking for mag to carrier clearance?
Great info on the process. I had no idea how in depth it is.
Can anyone tell which ones were considered good carriers? Just for anecdotal info I don't blame anyone for variances but I want to make a good decision in general
If you cleaned my ar and got all the grease and oil on the furniture and safety and everything i would be so pissed 😂😂😂 never seen anyone be so wreckless with a gun and grease. Love your videos though man
That looks awesome! It’s amazing what you can do with a garage. Someday I hope to take a class with you.
I stumbled across this channel, and I am so glad that I did! I have built a lot of ARs in a lot of calibers and have rebuilt 1. That 1 was a .458Socom that my brother purchased, and it would not run right at all. Now, I am no expert by any stretch, but my basic machining skills are okay, and my common sense is better than most. The easiest part was determining that the made in 2021, Bear Creek Arsenal 458socom was at best garbage tier and at worst dumpster fodder. It was way over-gassed, the springs were pretty much all too light or not long enough and fully assembled it jiggled like jello. The extractor had been made with a .223 extractor using a dremel and the feed ramps came to a hard stop at the barrel extension. I went through it changed out what I could and fixed what I could fix. The chamber was really bad and I was able to polish that and the extension feed ramps. This was all very basic stuff, nothing good or great about what I did, but it was better than it was and it ran. I just wish that I knew two years ago half of what I have learned from this channel in 2 weeks!
This series is a real eye-opener regarding the fiddly bits and intricacies of the AR rifle. Absolutely fascinating!
Oh great guess I'm returning the cheap Chinese Amazon one
Chad, had mentioned previously on your vibratite/rocksett video on how to reliably and safely remove the muzzle device once the compounds have cured onto the threads. Will you be showing us how you approach this, soon?
@schooloftheamericanrifle Thoughts on the ARIC ?
Educational in more ways than one 👍
What happened when you used to get a target with your rifle that had three shots in it that showed your rifles accuracy in a bench in a vice but nevertheless what you rifles cable I haven’t seen that shit in years
I sold everything LMT due to QC issues! One thing no one points out is their high turnover rate and low wages. I think this is a major reason no one cares about QC at LMT.
Yep lost all mine to a boat fire 60 or 80 miles offshore
Wow plus $300 bolt
Dang LMT!
Great video thank you ....
That was educational. Thank you.
Awesome series. I’m trying to diagnose weak ejection on a PSA 11.5” upper I expected it to be overgassed by a lot Would starting with the bcg be the proper start?

Cursing and on hands and knees on the shop floor is part of the build. Why ruin the fun?
I would hate to make that discovery in a jungle when the SHTF.
Thats why my BCG isn’t a shiny chrome color. I don’t look for pretty, I want quality of the build. No one is looking through my ejector cover to see a logo or the color.
Can i send u mine and let me know how much u charge😁🙏🏽
I have a smith and Wesson early morsel that had lmt bolt carrier. Key came loose.
It's all about the details! 🤘🇺🇲 Love Geissele but sometimes they just need a little more love & coaxing. Maybe even talk dirty to it. Thank you brother Chad! Glad to see you back into some productions! Guess it means Mrs. SOTAR has job security too! 😉🤙
A good set of gauges to have and very good explanations. Do you have a recommendation for a complete set of such go, no-go gauges?
If you were to just tighten the screw into spec do you need to replace the whole key and screws?
Man! You are a great teacher!! I am so humbled by this video. Thank You for sharing!! you. sir are a master armorer God!!!
Who actually made this gauge? Just curious
Yea so I thought for sure this was my problem but I put the wrong bullets in didn’t even know 300 aac blackout was a caliber I thought it was a all black ar
I had my 14.5 extended muzzle brake pinned and welded and a torque test is required for proof that I can't spin it off later. Definitely have to want that gas block... Adjustable, 300BO. Shortest legal length and full power. 85 to 230 grains. I can lob some fatties over a partition. Like a mini mortar. They still use those ancient things. (If it works, don't fix it) Or a Coyote at 600 meters with a 85gr 3000fps projectile. Penetrators or TREX is a sweet option in those specs. Lead free too.
Was looking into getting a .300 BO LMT but I’ve only heard negative things about the qc lately.
I would guess that 90-95% of ARs built at home are assembled incorrectly. I learn something new about the AR every few weeks or so and just when you think that you can't learn anything new about the so-called Lego rifle, that anyone could assemble, your flooded with new data that proves that while the AR may be easier than most to assemble the pieces, this American Rifle requires a full understanding of the hows and whys of their assembly and, more importantly, how those various parts interact with each other.
Hello. I have a shotgun that was in my gun safe in a house fire. Is it fixable ?
Very informative series
Superb, on to 3/3 thanks
Terrific video, going to part two now.
