    Yes oh my god this game always needed some sort of modding or stage builder, it would get so much more attention, I must ask though is it going to be possible to place songs in the game or are we restricted to the ingame music?

  • @hcldesmond

    Yes, the game uses the FMOD engine for audio, so it's possible to add your own samples and songs to the game.

  • @hcldesmond

    Each of the rings/sentries has a fixed length; every time it despawns at exactly the same time after it has been spawned. I placed those end thumps when the sentries despawn so I don't get any damage. If I had placed them a beat earlier, I'd have got lasered.

    You can fly as long as you want by making two consecutive jumps or getting a perfect turn after the first jump. You'll be forced to stop flying if you reach a long turn though.

    Great video! I hope you release more content, you're ridiculously good at this game. I suppose it's just because I'm relatively new, but how do you fly for so long like around 4:06? Sorry if it's common knowledge, it'd just be helpful.

  • @hcldesmond
    @hcldesmond6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! I do plan on releasing the best routes for all levels once I've found them. To fly indefinitely, you can either jump off a thump and hit a perfect short turn, or jump off two consecutive thumps. They have to be close to each other so that the beetle doesn't fall down before you complete the move.

  • @ericlimeback5406

    At 7:09 you can actually do the delay trick too! (Only in 1+ not 1 due to higher speed and slightly looser tolerance). The window is insanely small but I managed to do it once, but due to adrenaline I didn't get all perfect turns after that so didn't I get the maximum :(. So if someone pulls all 3 delays off and plays the rest perfectly, can potentially score 255,150!

  • @ericlimeback5406
    @ericlimeback54067 жыл бұрын

    Amazing! I'm still trying to attain your old maximum score haha... and here you are with a higher maximum. Is this trick common in later levels?

  • @ericlimeback5406
    @ericlimeback54067 жыл бұрын

    I found that in level 3-1, you can employ this trick to just barely slam the kill notes on the boss (3rd and 4th phases), whereas normally you come up short of doing it by a hair (and often causing me to miss the kill note) :P

  • @hcldesmond
    @hcldesmond7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the compliment! This trick does get a lot more common in later levels. I've only briefly checked levels 2 and 3, but I've already found multiple places where this trick can be used. Besides Level 3-1, it can also be used to extend the beetle's flight time to pound a normally unreachable thump during the miniboss in Level 2.

    Hi ! This is all very impressive. Thank you, I was looking for something like this. I don't get the logic behind some of your actions, though. On 1-11, why skip the first possible Kills ? I have tried redoing this sub-level alone multiple times (so without the No misses streak, No damage streak, and combo points) with and without the first possible Kills and WITH was giving around 500 more points. What is it I'm missing ? The two first parts are giving 21 kills each, I don't get why they should be handled differently. Thanks man !

  • @hcldesmond
    @hcldesmond7 жыл бұрын

    I believe what you missed is the multiplier. Replaying a stage resets the multiplier back to 1X. Compared with the 3X multiplier, the 1X multiplier reduces the number of gems you get for hitting each red bar/blue ring by 2, hitting each bonus-thump by 6 and pounding each bonus-thump by 8. During the 1X multiplier you also lose the ability to create bonus-thumps. You will need to take all of these into account when you compare routes by restarting from a checkpoint.

  • @choming8802
    @choming88027 жыл бұрын

    Great score. I have a hard time understanding why not jumping off the first thump in 1-5+ is optimal. Can you explain?

  • @choming8802
    @choming88027 жыл бұрын

    Also, the sequence you used in 1-11+ is slightly different from the one you used in 1-13 for your Level 1 maximum video despite them being the same level really. What's the rationale there?

  • @hcldesmond
    @hcldesmond7 жыл бұрын

    Nice observation! Pounding a thump will transform the next thump into a bonus-thump only when the multiplier is 2X or higher. The first 7 thumps in the entire level only has a 1X multiplier, so other than killing tentacles, it doesn't matter whether you pound them or not. Level 1-11+ is one of those levels where there are multiple routes to achieve the same maximum score. Here is a comparison between my two attempts: • The first different move is I pounded the 10th thump in 1-11+ but not in 1-13. No difference in scores at this point. • I jumped off the 11th thump in 1-11+ but pounded it in 1-13. Since it's a bonus-thump, 1-11+ now has 1 less blue gem than 1-13 (ignoring multiplier, 4X in 1-11+ and 3X in 1-13). • The 12th thump in 1-13 is a bonus-thump but not in 1-11+. 1-11+ has 4 less blue gems now. • I pounded the 14th thump in both 1-11+ and 1-13. This is a bonus-thump in 1-11+ but not in 1-13. Now the scores of both levels are equal again.

    Awesome bruh ! kept playing it on repeat to figure out how dafuq it's possible to get the 279,300 score (got me a bit obsessed ), can't understand the scoring system quit yet (why flying until stage 6, skipping the red thingy just once on stage 11 "I used to fly and smash all of them", and the same with the stage 14, not getting a super smash all the time, with the final boss also I used to fly 2 turns and smash you do just one) Anyway, cheers for sharing ... see you in the top 3 (hopefully if no one does it before me :p)

  • @hcldesmond

    Let me try to break down the scoring system for you. The basics are explained pretty well in the manual and in this guide by YinYin: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=783540449 The key to maximizing the score boils down to whether you jump off or pound each thump. This affects the number of blue gems and kills at the end of the level. What I usually do is to record a playthrough that prioritizes collecting all red bars and blue rings over creating bonus-thumps, then analyze the video and experiment with all possible routes for each stage, including flying from the previous checkpoint, and compare the results. While analyzing it will be obvious that most of the routes give lower scores and can be ruled out, so there should be only a few routes to check in-game. At the end of stage 1-1, if you jump off the first bonus thump and pound the second, you get 8 gems (4 gems for pounding a bonus-thump * 2X multiplier) and 5 kills. But if you fly until the checkpoint before stage 1-4 or 1-6, you get 12 gems (4 gems * 3X multiplier) and 10 kills instead. Stage 1-11 is probably the hardest to analyze. The only possible places to jump off here are the first five thumps, since you can't fly through the long turns after the sixth thump. You can always fly indefinitely with the perfect turn after jumping any of these thumps, so the best move is to always pound the next thump. The next thing to notice involves this instruction from the manual: "Collect perfect sequences of 6+ red bars and/or blue rings and get more blue gems." If you look closely at 4:54 and 5:06, the sixth and last red bar gives 9 gems instead of the usual 3 gems. The 6 extra gems are awarded for collecting every red bar in the sequence. You can also hear a high-pitched sound when this happens. If you jump off one of the thumps and break this sequence, you are sacrificing 1,500 points (9 gems from 3 red bars and 6 gems from perfecting the sequence) which would need at least one of these to compensate: • 30 kills (the tentacles are spaced quite evenly in this stage, so once you know a single pound shockwave gives 21 kills, you know this is impossible) • create 1 bonus-thump (9 gems) + 12 kills • create and pound 1 bonus-thump (12 gems) + 6 kills Jumping off the first thump and pounding the second neither transform the next thump into a bonus-thump nor kill more than 30 tentacles. Jumping off the fifth thump and pounding the sixth create a bonus thump but kill less than 12 tentacles. So these two routes can be eliminated. The red bars between 4:58 and 5:02 are too far apart and do not form a sequence. (The length of a sequence is determined by the amount of time the blue gems surrounds the beetle before being absorbed by it.) Jumping off the third thump and pounding the fourth only cost 900 points (9 gems from 3 red bars) but yield 1950 points (9 gems from 1 bonus-thump created and 21 kills). What about jumping off the second thump and pounding the third? This move costs 1,500 points and yields 1,950 points, but also opens up the possibility of jumping off the fourth and pounding the fifth, which costs 900 points and yields... I have no idea. The tentacles end early after the fifth thump. This is where video analysis reaches its limits. You'll have to check both routes in-game to see which one gives a higher score. I'm sure you get the idea by now. I'll leave the analysis of the final two bosses to you. :P

    SUPER DUPER THUMPS UP for this ! I finally get it, exactly what I was looking for all over the internet! thanks big time :D So there's lots of trial and error, I was doing this and thought there's an easier way to know for sure what moves gives you top score. Man I just had a perfect run, then at the final boss AGAIN I did fly and smash twice instead of once (old habits die hard XD), at least finally I'm in the top 5 list now :D Good luck on kicking Sinthrex ass btw ;) impressive score at levels 2 and 3 !!

  • @hcldesmond
    @hcldesmond7 жыл бұрын

    I'm glad you find it useful. In fact, writing the process down clearly helps me a lot as well. I've just started working on getting max score at level 3. I used to spend a lot of time in the game restarting levels 1 and 2 from the beginning just to test all the different routes for a particular stage. Right now I am able to work in a much more organized way. If it involves only blue gems, I can correctly determine the gain/loss for each route in my head. If kills are involved, I can still get a good estimate (± 1-3 kills) based on the video alone. This definitely saves a bunch of time redoing everything over and over again. Well done at level 1. You're almost there. :D

  • @mostaphobia
    @mostaphobia7 жыл бұрын

    Oh so your score isn't the max already XD well, that's quit advance! most of the times I'm too tense to notice how many gems I'd get, and I guess trial and error would take way more time with higher levels, so yeah way to go budd ! Yeah almost! missed two turns the final boss after a perfect run, was like NOOOOOOOOO then had to take a break :p
