Although mama hated me and denied my sexual abuse over the past years, I totally 4gave her a few days after my baptism; but I really despised her till her dying day on 6/30/82! However, in a lot of ways, "So Far Away"s lyrics eventually remind me of Mama; especially 'You're just time away: Long ago, I reached for you and there you stood: Holding you again could do me good; How I wish I could, but..."; she's been gone now for 42 years this past June 30...no cap!!

Listen closely, and you'll hear Carole cry a little bit as she sings towards the end of refrain #2: ".... there's so many dreams... I've yet to find...", and as the song is closing: "Yeah, you're So Far Away; hey, you're So Far...Awaaay..."!!

I really wonder if she wrote this song in a little amount of time? I'll never know, but I think it all just came out on her piano, ya think?!

Rod Stewart's remake of "So Far Away" sometimes makes me cry about lost loves and relationships! His version debuted on the Pop Singles charts Thanksgiving weekend of '95, to remain a solid hit for 26 weeks (Memorial Day Weekend 1996, respectfully!): later became a Top 10 hit single in late January-early February of '96; further boosting the sales of A Tribute To Carole King album to well over 3.5M copies in the United States alone, no cap!!

In late 1995, A Tribute To Carole King album w/various artists gets issued: I don't know who remade "It's Too Late", but Rod Stewart's rendition of "So Far Away" is the highpoint of the LP: it remained on the Hot100 Charts for an amazing 26 weeks-6 months-from the Holidays '95 till latter May '96-NO CAP!!

About 50 years ago, I was singing 'Dominiminotti day in my face anymo' to Carole's 'Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?'! It takes me back to Kindergarten and later, first grade throughout 1974-thanks to Pat Moody!!

To Ms. Christine "Chris" Burden, I dedicate this record to you: we live about 25 miles or so distance between each other! Till the day we ever meet again, you're gonna always be "So Far Away"...no cap, baby!!

Caucasian woman, 58-yr. old Christine Burden (Chris is how I met her in Sp. Ed., Valentine's Day Tuesday, 1984 during lunch time in the school cafeteria!) literally lives 25+ miles from me: Sawyer, MI... Warren Dunes State Park!!

Mama Christine Taylor, I love you and miss you! This is dedicated to you for learning me how to walk back in Summer of '69! 2006, I was playing "So Far Away" in G-natural; honestly, I initially played it in C-natural, but had to transpose my keyboard down 5 semitones to tailor me!!

As a little kid in school (1973 and '74), I was like 'Dominiminotti day in one face anymo''... till I got older and got the message to the lyrics: So Far Away! Doesn't Anybody Stay In One Place Anymore?!!

Carole put the music together; Toni Stern wrote the words in 1971: The Isley Brothers covered it in early '72 for their Brother, Brother, Brother album, the longest track! King and Stern later sued them for copyright issues!!

It was one comment from one thoughtless person and her attaching importance to this that ultimately led to her slow suicide by bulemia. She overheard someone say she was getting overweight. Oversensitivity goes hand in hand with real talent.

I bought the masterpiecealbum, TAPESTRY, as a Christmas gift for my high school girlfriend Debbie. We're still friends now, 50 years later, though I ended up married to her best friend from high school, but not until 35 years had passed. Life's crazy!

As a kid I heard this song. My alcoholic parents were constantly fighting and raging throughout my childhood and I learned to hate them and the idea of being married. I decided not to marry and graduated from high school at 16, went to college, then into the Air Force at 17. I didn't marry until I was 32 and chose the wrong woman. I didn't find the right woman until I was 50 and we're still very happy 15 years later.
