Well used to be night time rides but I noticed this year it was no riding after 10:30, I live accross the highway from the San dunes on 101. They go hard right up till 10:30 every day during utv takeover. Then the dunes are empty, and I go ride them all to myself haha.

Hi there, at 5:32 what is the wiring harness you have? I do not have this with my intercom that I just purchased, and I can not find anything about this on Rugged's site. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

No one ever shows the SWR reading? Its very high! Some of the readings depending on the type of antenna was up to 11.2 to 1... I had to strap a ground strap to the frame to get the SWR down to a reasonable match. Or find an antenna that does not require a ground plain? To much reflective wave back into the radio will destroy it. Just my take on the GMRS/HAM radio installs in jeeps.

This literally does not explain the difference at all. This just gives examples of use. What’s the real difference? Why do race teams use the business band and why do overlanders use GRMS. I know GRMS is longer range. But why is business band more expensive? It doesn’t add up to me. More range should be more money, so what’s the difference?

There is exclusive vhf frequencies from race organizers, I don’t really know how they work and if a gmrs radio can have its own exclusive frequency for an organization or if it’s all public. If the only way to have a organization specific is VHF then that would explain it but otherwise I’m just as lost as you are

On programming, is the offset automatic(5meg) for repeater use? Also, how difficult is to to select PL tones? Many other radios like the QYT are a royal pain!

What happened to step 7? Lol. As the other comment states, install radio AFTER you reinstall switch plate. Also the pan of the intercom sitting on the lifted mount shows the lifted mount 90 degrees off from the correct alignment. It only mounts together one way, so I figured it out, but felt like I was doing something wrong initially. All the other install videos for other cars I've done are far superior to this one.

I think those are anysecu radios or Linton radios . Or maybe there anytone radios . There are about 5 Chinese radios parent companies. There , wouxun, anytone, retevis -tyt, baofeng and Linton . And maybe 3 more the rest are off shoots. Those look like retevis or runbo radios. But eather way the retevis, runbo, or anytone radios are the top of the Chinese pile. But how ever Chinese radios do not transmitt all there power on frequency. They transmitt on double the frequency . So if you are on 150 mhz your also transmitting on 3oo mhz. This is called 2nd and 3rd harmonics. If you can buy a Motorola or an RF Johnson. Butt most of us can not afford a real commercial radio. Because the government buys commercial radios that's why a Motorola mpx or htx radio is over 3,000 just for one walkie-talkie. But the 3,000 radio can take abuse. The Chinese radios are okay but don't abuse them. If you buy one take the cover off and let me know who makes that radio it's probably tyt or retevis. The main thing is the receive cause Chinese radios have okay receive and filtering. But there okay if you don't have Kenwood or Motorola money. Witch I don't. But I am not knocking there business in anyway. I am actually happier for them that they where able to make a business out of reselling Chinese radios. Cause in today's world nothing is made here in America anymore. I want to do the same thing . But for now I just work on radios and program them. For the locals here in Kingman Az. Again I am not knocking them or trying to hurt there business in anyway. I won't give away the websites where to buy those radios by bulk. Cause I don't want to hurt there business. These guys fill a need where most people don't have the time or want the know how of how to programm a radio with a computer and how to update the firmware and his ro modify them and align them and other radio work. And don't get me started on Android ham radios but most Android ham radios are only UHF or vhf. The dual banders are expensive. There is also a new kid on the block called radtell. Yeah so the Chinese radios market is exploding.
