    So, I don't know if this counts, but I had a speech delay, and now I have a Block Stutter so getting my words that is so difficult sometimes So I know what I wanna say, but sometimes it just comes out the wrong way or it just doesn't come out I don't know if it technically counts as apraxia of speech! I also had a cleft palette as a young child and I also had hearing issues but I got a surgery and now I'm able to hear so much better!

    Thank you for sharing, and we're so glad your hearing is improved! A speech therapist is needed to diagnose apraxia of speech, and you may want to consider talking with one about any difficulty you have with getting your words out. What you have to say matters, and speech therapy can help you speak with greater ease and confidence! :)

    Great technique! The music is too loud and I can not hear the child. And because of this I can not tell how long she is pausing. It would be nice when recommending this video to a parent if we could hear all communication partners.

    Hello, thank you for your pieces of advice. ❤ My son has a speech delay, he is included in speech therapy. The progress is good. Of course, I am always searching for new ways to help him at home. We are struggling with pronouns very much. What do you recommend to start first with? My (mine) or your(s)? I suppose it is the most reasonable to start with first person (my, mine). Thank you very much.

  • @Expressable
    @Expressable19 күн бұрын

    Hello! So glad to hear your son is making progress, and that you're focused on helping him at home. Your speech therapist can explain the best way to work on pronouns with him, since they're familiar with his specific needs. However, we often like to work on both "mine" and "yours" at the same time to help the child differentiate between the two. For example, if you and your son are playing with pretend food, you might say "this one is mine" and "that one is yours," or "I ate all of mine, where is yours?" Your therapist should have lots more ideas for how you can practice at home!

How to improve upon it? Also, she imitates words and use it at wrong places, I am looking ways to help her out.

    Does medication for ADHD help with language disorders?

  • @Expressable
    @ExpressableАй бұрын

    hello! Thank you for the question. In many people, ADHD medication can lead to improved ability to mentally track and express a thought without internally getting distracted and losing the message. Research is ongoing, but studies have show improvement in language with medication, specifically language structure and thought organization--so, the cognitive component of language/communication.

    I have a lisps; I think the 2nd to the last one. It was recently brought to my attention that I put S sounds where American English uses a Z sound (such as in the middle and end of words). From there I realized Z is a difucult sound for me. It usually comse out as a S or th sound. When I started paying attention, realized my Th sounds are actually Sth🤷‍♀️😅. The funny thing is, I remember going to speech therapy for my lisps as a child, and, eventually, being told it was fixed. Is it common to relapse in adulthood?

  • @Expressable

    Hi Anna! Yes, it is completely possible and valid to experience changes in your speech throughout adulthood. If you're interested in exploring ways to modify your speech production, we'd definitely recommend talking with a speech therapist and sharing your questions or concerns. I find it ironic that the names for so many of these speech impediments are unpronounceable by the people who have them. A person with a lisp cannot pronounce the word 'lisp' correctly. A person with rhotacism cannot pronounce 'rhotacism' correctly, for example.

    My kid had about 10 ear infections and has struggles with both receptive and expressive. She’s been 6 months in speech and has progressed leaps and bounds but im looking for more support for her once she turns 3 the school district can provide services that we cannot afford. She was flagged for autism and been observed by multiple professionals … initially we thought she wasn’t responding to her name or giving eye contact but the day after her tubes surgery at 25 months she began to do those things again. Tough she started with hearing sensitivity and I can only wonder if the surgery provoked it
