Great day out there, Fitzy. Don’s craw jigs really worked wonders for those river smallies. I’m impressed. The river looks still blown out but fishable, glad you got into a few nice fish.

Any day on the water is a good day in my book. A couple of really nice river Smallies on the old Deadly Nedly. Really happy to see you catching some on those Crawdad Jigs and some dandies to boot ! Might have to tie up a few more before our Fall kayak camping / fishing adventure. River Smallies …..nothing better ! That current was tough. Catching anything on the ultralight is a blast. Picked up my nephew’s son at the airport last night and we’ll be chasing Largies here for the weekend and then heading up to Massena for 3 days of chasing Smallies on the Grasse and the St. Lawrence Rivers. Haven’t been out in almost two weeks so 5-6 days of non stop fishing action is probably gonna wear me out but I’ll be loving every minute of it. Can’t wait for September!

This spot I fished, there is a launch on the NE side of the city of Fulton, right off of 481. There is also a launch right under the bridge on route 104 (bridge street) that gives you access to the river and Lake Ontario.

You started out in a little Smallie honey hole, those were some beauties ! The Smallmouth action was on fire. Too bad you didn’t have something like a Tiny Torpedo top water lure, that bite would have been fun too. The net sure would have been handy but you did ok without it. The TRD was getting it done as usual. Lake Sunapee here in NH has become overrun with Rock Bass, and once a year they hold a “Catch & Kill” tournament to try to control the population. I’ve never participated in that but that would be a fun day on the water especially with an ultra lite. Great morning on the river. The ZaZa gets em every time.

I’m really impressed with both you guys, I like how Zach releases the smallies and just so respectful. It’s also nice to see both you guys wearing your life jackets. We lost a young neighbor guy in one of our local rivers a couple years ago when their canoe overturned and he didn’t have a life jacket. He left a young wife and little boy. Thanks High Noon! It's actually a city ordinance to wear a PFD in the section we were fishing. Which is a good thing. Almost 1 or 2 anglers die in this river every year. Usually during the fall salmon run, when they fail to exit the water when they ioen the dam and raise the water levels below it. They give plenty of warning with sirens and loud speakers but there are always a few that don't heed the warning and end up drowning in the river. So they passed an ordinance that you have to wear a PFD when wading in this section.

That last Smallie was definitely a trip maker, it's first splash sounded like someone dropped a bowling ball in the river, Haha. I thought for sure your line was going to get cut, that just made the battle more intense. That line can really boast of some abrasion resistance. Got a big one for those subscribers.

Way to go, Fitzy. That last fish made your trip worth while. You were lucky to land it considering it went through that metal base. The Ned rig seems to be the most productive bait for smallies, you did well. Water looked really good unlike last year where it was super low, this time it had good flow.

Water seemed to be just right and the Ned Rig is deadly on those smallmouth Adrian. Almost impossible not to catch something on it. Always nice having anytime on the water, but landing a pig or 2 definitely makes the trip worth it. Thanks buddy!

Caught 10 smallies yday on a nedrig. These bits are the best thing invented for bass. Trick is to really be attentive as its so light the bite is often missed. I dont know how you can fish it in current though as too light.

Caught 10 smallies yday on a nedrig. These bits are the best thing invented for bass. Trick is to really be attentive as its so light the bite is often missed. I dont know how you can fish it in current though as too light.
They work great for bass and I love using them in the river and some slack water or in slow moving pools or shallow riffles.
It's true what they say, Trout are found in the most beautiful places, and they are some of the most beautiful fish. That song into the video really set the mood.
