Let's get you moved!

Great video and such a cute area!
Several projects are underway in Spartanburg that are expected to help revitalize the downtown area. A baseball stadium, a planetarium at the public library, only the 2nd planetarium at a public library in the US, a new hotel, a mixed use development at the site of the former newspaper building and a first in the state joint city/county administrative building. Spartanburg has an expanding network of walking/biking trails which will eventually interconnect into a 55 mile long system. Last year one of the trails was expanded through the downtown area with the first curb protected bike lanes in the state. Another trail was extended to the site of a former grist mill with a dam and waterfall located 5 minutes from the downtown area. There are plans for a 945 acre park just southeast of the city and a first in the state trail specifically designed for handicapped people is being built at Lake Blalock just north of the city. Non motorized boating is soon going to be allowed at a lake in the city for the first time in 60 years.
Greenville was a good influence on Spartanburg.
@@joelsandler1119what do you mean by that?
@@richardcribb9226 Greenville is run better than Spartanburg.
@@joelsandler1119 In what way? Spartanburg is booming with new houses and businesses. The baseball stadium development downtown is the largest investment in the city’s history. Oshkosh Defence chose Spartanburg as the place to manufacture the new model postal vehicles for the USPS, Southern Bank has moved its financial services headquarters to Spartanburg, 2 years ago the city received an award from the Riley Institute, the first such award given, for its efforts to revitalize a neighborhood that had deteriorated following the textile mill closure. Every month, Spartanburg’s mayor leads a walk in a different neighborhood of the city, this promotes physical fitness, an opportunity to interact with city officials as well as neighbors who may be of different races and backgrounds. I have never heard of another mayor doing this on a regular basis. In 2021, Greenville’s sheriff at the time went to prison for corruption charges. Recently, when Greenville set up a homeless court, it sent people to Spartanburg to see how Spartanburg’s court works.
@@orgrichard Greenville has a better downtown and the Swamp trail.
The politics and the evangelicals all over the place are also downsides unless you are a BJU fan.
