Thank you for watching, hopefully, you finished the video. Good question, you have there. The explanation is that Robin Padilla is the only senator of the Islamic faith among 24 Senate legislators. And in the video he distinctly acknowledged and affirmed his being a Muslim, so he is not shy about being identified as such. I have no wish to label the non-Muslim senators as "Christian", never has been my policy in my more than 40 years as journalist. You see, I am sure you have read newspapers and heard radios and TV broadcasts identifying people of the Muslim faith as "Muslim snatcher", "Muslim terrorist", "Muslim suspect", etc. Perhaps, you may wanna ask those responsible for the labeling or stereotyping. As journalist, I covered the Police Beat with Manila Bulletin and Tempo, the Western Police District, and most of the suspects my media colleagues and I wrote about were non-Muslim, meaning, Christian. But never in my so many police stories did I identity suspects as "Christian rapist" who raped his daughter, "Christian drunkard", "Christian killer", etc. etc. So there, sorry that I have to give you a long explanation, I just want to put context to my reply. On the other hand, thank you so much for asking, I really appreciate your giving me a chance to explain a topic that is very dear to me. By the way, I spent four years of my college days at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and I loved every day of my life there, and my classmates and school mates. Being a Muslim in a Catholic learning institution gave me a wider perspective on other culture and people. I understand more and learn more about humanity, about not seeing people through the religious glass. Peace is attainable through understanding and working on commonalities. God bless, stay safe!
