You had one of those fancy home movies with sound. My folks have plenty of super8 mm, but they're all silent. Always wished they had sound like this. Great stuff. Being '74, I woulda been just about the age of the little kid in the mickey shirt at 0:48 at that exact time. I didn't get to go to my first trip to Disney California until a couple years after this, but I really seem to have fonder memories of WDW trips from about '79 onwards through the 80s. As funny as it may sound, the trip through California was such a wonderful experience, my memory of Disney itself is crowded out with much more impressionable events leading up and and on the way home. It's so odd how the only thing I thought I wanted to do, Disney, was all I could think about on the way to and from, but the journey itself and all the points along the way was far more memorable. Florida on the other hand, the drive out is/was not as impressive as a journey and WDW is so much more impressive, the proportions of the overall trip is different, so those Disney moments and emotional memory is far, far stronger growing up. Anyway, GREAT video!

Not long after this in Commiefornia they implemented "Odd-even" days for pumping gas. I worked at gas station (still full serve) and imagine the power a 14 yr old boy wielded memorial day weekend, lol. I made more from bribes than I got at $3.25 hr, lol. Back then $100 actually got you something nice, lol.

I was born in February of 1989. I’m assuming this was filmed around December of 1989 so I would have been around 10 months old when this was filmed. Just missed the 80’s by a year. It’s fun looking back to see what it was like at that time when I was too young to comprehend.

To some degree, modern Japan is very much like this. Japanese are often laughed at for not rushing into technology and embracing constant change, doing things the old fashioned way - but there is a lot of wisdom in that. I lived there 4 years and my greatest life lesson is 'Culture Matters.'

Why are Americans loosing their regional accents? Every time I see a 1970s “normal people” video they have much stronger accents than we hear today.

Overtime when people forget god( O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do. And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient. Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers [of success].59/23

I remember walking around a blockbuster and always ended up meeting a few people who wanted to know which movies were good. They would do the same with my questioning a particular movie. Everyone in the store was happy especially fridays because it often meant movie night in the living room with family. My uncle would always pay for the snacks they sold there. I miss those days.
