Cadoha Adventures

Cadoha Adventures

CArly, DOm & HAnk make up the crew of Cadoha. We're challenging ourselves to a new life on the water, exploring and showing off some of the best-kept secrets along our home shores. We're slowly building out our blue water sailing boat to be a comfortable liveaboard boat, capable of expended periods of time off of the grid, with a mix of modern technology and old.

Follow our adventures as we learn to find, forage and catch our own food, whilst learning to sail our floating home to so many stunning destinations. We make friends all along the coastline, who we learn and grow from, in our quest for ultimate freedom!

The world has never felt so fragile to us as it has these past couple of years, so come and join us as we prepare this vessel and ourselves to be ready for anything!

May I suggest that a Hauptner Hoof Knife , you can get them for left or right handed people, would and does work very well for reaming out caulking in situations where batteries are flat or mains power is not available. The bit that cuts is very similar to the power tool you were using. I used the same one in veterinary practice on cattle and horses for over 30 years and still have it for d.i.y - no it is not a Triggers broom situation! Special sharpening files are available and I think that the knife+file would retail at around £40.

No offence (you seem like lovely people) but I am so sick of watching wealthy sailors who lack the true sailors passion.... (overpriced marinas, paying other people to fix simple issues & no practical problem solving skills on the engine). I want to see real honest sailors dealing with issues in the moment. EDIT: well, I take some of that back; the bucket solution was a good resourceful solution. Kudos for that.

Many jobs on boats are so labour intensive and boring, but this one definitely takes the biscuit! I have non slip deck paint that by comparison will be a breeze. What a great job you’ve’ done though Dom, looks great.

Great stuff - hard work but a lovely result. The advantage to an older boat is the thickness of teak for years of beauty 😊

sanding teak deck is always a mistake. I had to replace the teak after 20 years.

  • @CadohaAdventures
    @CadohaAdventures2 күн бұрын

I hear you, but s quite hard not to sand it when your replaced so much caulking. Also the teak was 10mm thick, even after all this time, so it seemed like it could take a little sanding without too much problem.

Honestly. It’s just radical bored people in life with nothing else of interest in life that just want to see if they can get by with cancelling you. You may lose some customers. Who cares. Do what you do. This is how God intended for humanity to eat and survive. They all buy it from the grocery stores and just don’t have to see how it’s foraged. But they want to be idealistic without admitting they are all eating animals on their dinner tables every night.

Five reasons to have A live on boat number one taxes number two freedom number 3 be able to go when you want to go to other countries to see other beautiful islands, And believe it or not If you have a home you will have to pay taxes insurance high expensive electric bill water bill and you don't ever own the home because you pay more in taxes over 20 years of what you paid for the house number number four you have a water maker make your own water it's free solar panels and battery for electricity you have the win the blow you to go wherever you need to go you will need a diesel generator sometimes to get into port but I could go on and on and on other things that you get living on a boat that you will not get living living in a house on land for on land you that house you have to work on it everyday there's something broke something needs to be upgraded very very expensive to keep a house going very a boat you can do 90% of the work yourself and it's really not that hard and upkeep ain't anything like a house believe me I have had both the boat is the way to go

Great job indeed. I have to do mine sooner than later, I am on lake Champlain Vermont USA. This year I ran the engine dry ( boat was on its cradle ) for ten minutes to get the oil a little warn for oil change. Little did I know that by leaving the impeller in and running dry, all the blades would break up and end up in the heat exchanger... so I need to do that job now where the space is even smaller to work :( Thanks for the video. Cheer mate.

You have to stand up and be a man. A provider. Fishing is excellant. The virtue signaling ass sitting prosessed food eating professional counter weights will change their mind when the food supply to the local fast food joint closes the door.

Unless you are addicted to the lifestyle, it's better to rent or cruise with someone else than to buy and be committed to the costs and problems with no recourse. Try before you buy. And for heaven's sake, don't take the dog with you -- been there, done that. It's fun the first time, but who needs another creature to worry about, in an environment that is already demanding?

I appreciate you attempting to make everyone happy. But... when you try to serve EVERYONE, you end up serving NO ONE! I listened to some great personal development lately that said... "Let your freak flag fly!" In essence, BE YOU! Do and share what YOU love! You are not being devisive by being yourself and sharing what you love. That title lies solely with those trying to change you!! And SHAME ON THEM!! That attitude of "I dont like that, therefore you can't share that, or believe that.." Well, in a nutshell, that is what is wrong with people in this world!! Tolerance and understanding no longer exist. Don't cave, don't spread yourself so thin you aren't happy, and most importantly, don't change based on the whiners. 😉 I'm not sure if they follow any other sailing channels or not. But all the ones we follow share scuba and snorkeling, and 90% also share fishing! I mean, you are on a boat! And while you may currently stay near shore and a market... Your fishing skills will be invaluable for the day you cast off for much longer passages. So grow them and share them for those of us who don't want to or can't rely on a market being around the corner at anchor. Just sayin' 😉 BTW... congrats on being a dad! We will actually be in the UK on Monday for the 1st t8me ever! My daughter's husband was stationed there, and we are going for a visit to see our daughter and only grandson, who turns a year old on Aug 6th! And while he wasn't as early as yours, he was pretty tiny and in preemie clothes for almost 4 months. You'd never know it now! So enjoy. Your little man will grow faster than you can imagine! Love watching y'all! Oh, and we love Hank too!! 😁

Fuel gelling is a known issue when fuel goes bad. The fuel ‘goes bad’ increasingly quickly the higher the ethanol content. Any remaining fuel in the carburettor bowl will go bad and gel if left for long enough. One mitigation is to stop the engine using the fuel cutoff on its last use at the end of the season, this will reduce the amount of fuel in the carburettor bowl. It’s also worth draining the old fuel or ‘refreshing it’ at the beginning of the season (as well as flushing the cooling system with fresh water). Fuel also decreases its octane over time and refreshing the fuel will help the outboard run more efficiently. Happy sailing

Loving your videos! You explain things and show it all so well. Very complicated and I know the feeling of going to take one thing off then realising you have to move so many other things.. one thought I had, can you put an anode somewhere in the exhaust manifold or the exhaust elbow to stop the corrosion. I feel like I saw that somewhere...
