  Apparently Alexander was an antihellenic Slav from the former Yugoslavia who spoke a Bulgarian dialect modified and rename "Macedonian" by Yugoslav communists. You can clearly see the Slavic language on those ancient Macedonian coins.

  @@chickenni8163 You are right about the former Yugoslavians' historical propaganda but Alexander's father Philip was a self-identifying Macedonian Greek, not Illyrian. He competed in three different Olympiads (at the time reserved for Greeks) His mother Olympia was a Greek princess from at the time Greek Kingdom of Epirus. The language on those Macedonian coins is unambiguously Greek.

  The 1888 O is a bit more Rare , Please be careful , If it comes back Cleaned Details you Lost the Value of even Grading it . Personally I think the best advice is to Never clean a coin .

  the stuff is olive oil based you say. Olive oil in itself is very bad for coins. It contains acid which will damage the coin in the long run and is difficult to remove. You can use Vaseline, but it must be acid-free. This masks the coin as a dust magnet. It is better to clean the coin thoroughly first. Then place the coin in demineralized water for a few days. Finally, preserve the coin with Microcrystalline Wax or paraloid b72. This gives a protective colorless hard layer and the process is reversible.

  Matthew 26:11 … doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fought, it does mean you won’t have 100% success. Do churches and the Vatican sometimes retain too much. Sure. I wouldn’t dwell on how much they retain but on how much they help. It is also good to have wealth.

  never use Vaseline on your roman coins, Because Vaseline is a water base product, Which can cause the coins patina to go green.

  That kind of rubbing with a Q-tip is NOT recommended, unless you want all your coins to be labeled "CLEANED" and devalued. If you examine your coins now you will see the hairlines you have introduced.

  on the wildwinds website when you're looking up a coin, what's the column on the left where it says something like "Newell 246"?
