What a miserable review! Name a car that isn't "1 BOX" -- unless it got stuck on a level crossing and cut in half by a train. Really, this man talks BS. But I shall subscribe in case he tells of wonders of rural life. He entirely fails to mention engine size, performance in town and countryside, transmission systems, MPG, emissions and is plain misleading about the Toyota. It is a 'mild hybrid', designed to supply extra power from an electric motor to smooth out some of the drawbacks of high revving low cc engines. MPG advantages are not significant but ride quality certainly is without making the suspension expensive. Tested in Nordic countries and the UK, the Spacia is deemed to have moderate off road capabilities and abilities in snow which many a grandiose EV SUV would fail in. Indeed, the presenter fails to show rear seat folding increasing boot/trunk space on all but one the cars. Manufacturers in north west Europe only seem to offer SUVs and 'executive cars' at silly prices and Asia is trouncing our motor industry -- rightly, because it forgot about real people and forgot about what private motor transport actually is. Asian attitudes are different and automotive economists a decade ago predicted that there would be a single generation of pure EVs only, followed by hybrids using the same body dies (naturally saving a lot in weight, battery costs and disposal) then some EVs would be made for strict urban utility use. Hybrids in the Report (commissioned by Japan, S.Korea, China and some BRICS funds) factored in colored hydrogen IC hybrids mainly on a Toyota set of patents licensed to China and S.Korea and the latter two countries are experimenting with ammonia as a fuel. GAC Group, China is 50% owned by Toyota and research into ammonia engines takes advantage of China's ammonia manufacturing targeted to be green, even where using the Haber-Bosch process -- which itself is being phased out. Ammonia engines favor haulage, plant and locomotive power units more than cars at present. The popular argument that supplying filling stations with 'new fuels' is fallacious because it is a matter of will, demand and supply and minor modifications to road tankers in the case of gaseous hydrogen. The fact that hydrogen is a by product of many industrial processes at scale would more than pay for refrigerated tankers from the point of production. Hydrogen fuel cell storage dates back to the 1930s in Japan and appears to be a separate development by Toyota Group for performance vehicles. Perhaps hydrogen fuel cells will find a place in KEI cars using the swap system in due course.

I’m no expert on the subject, but in my opinion, Japan’s issue on this front is rather unique. On one hand, it’s a rich, developed country where both men and women no longer need to be with someone to ensure a better standard of living, and they will be just fine on their own. This brings a certain freedom of choice. On the other hand, it’s a very traditionalist society where individuals aren’t allowed to define what their relationship or marriage is going to be like. It’s not necessary to give away one's freedom or all your money to your spouse. Everything is a matter of choice for each couple individually (in the West). Personally, I believe this is the problem. It’s not that they don’t want to get involved with someone; they just don’t want that under the conditions set by a society that isn’t going to change anytime soon. P.S. I’m in my early 30s and married. My husband doesn’t forward his salary to me, and I don’t feel like I can’t go somewhere on my own. We are both happy with that.

i lived in japan for nearly 15 years, kansai and kyushu, i moved back to oz about 15 yrs ago. I HAVENT RE-ADJUSTED AND LIKELY NEVER WILL ( IN LARGE PART TO HAVING A FUKCED FAMILY HERE.) kikokushijo nado nado. (edit; I AM A BLACKBELTED HIKKIKOMORI)
I don’t think I would fit in. I am going back for a couple of weeks at the end of the year. Should be interesting.
Such a unique vehicle I ❤️ it, will the N Box ever come to America?
I think you can import them but they have to be over 25 years old. I would never buy one that old.
25 years I’ll probably be in an urn by then 😂
Me too
I am interested in hearing about how house loan repayments work in Japan... I thought it was impossible for foriegners currently am saving up to buy a house in Japan, I have lost all hope of buying here in aus
Australia is way out of hope now. The Australian dream is dead. I think the first house I bought in Australia cost a bit over 20,000 now I think it’s worth over 300,000. When we were building the house the house company found the bank the interest is fixed for the term of the loan. I think it is just over 2% so the loan repayments never change. The loan is in my name I was teaching English at the time and had a full time job.
LOOK INTO AKIYA (abandoned houses, ) MANY POSSIBILITIES AWAIT THOSE WHO SEEK. fortune favours the prepared mind
Whats the range of it ? They have imported the 2023 version here to Australia
Not sure. I would say it gets around 16-20 kpl. That is what most of these type of kei cars get.
Thanks @@lifeinruraljapan
Crazy thing is with US debt and Saudis switching to Brics aud to usd is still 66c every time I look, drives me crazy. Not that I'd like to live in the US haha...Oz has changed, out of control immigration and resources almost given away for nothing with no benefit to locals. Cost of living skyrocketing...J wife and I currently trying to decide when we're going to retire in J and how to do it. We've almost paid off our house. Dunno if we should rent, sell or airbnb at this stage. Gov's made some BS rules for landlords renting their property, making that less attractive. I could happily cut all ties with Oz apart from family with the direction governments have taken us.
I know I still have family there they are always tell me about it crazy. Where do you live? If you sold up you would have plenty to buy something nice here. There is plenty of part-time work around.
@@lifeinruraljapan We're in Mandurah WA, house would give us plenty. Just wondering best way to have enough for rest of lifetime. I'm working on learning Japanese, but not very good. Thats a concern too if I was going to work part time.
You don’t have to speak perfect Japanese. I don’t. You will pick it up as you go. You could even teach English at home. I have done that for a long time.
@@lifeinruraljapan Thanks mate!
@@lifeinruraljapan i just deleted a very critizing comment to you about you not speaking japanese, then i re-read yr comment a noticed you used the qualifier "perfect" . i have been awake for 22 hours. thank goodness noticed it, or it woulda been SEPUKU for me.
Pretty much everything you say about comparing Japan to Australia is about the same as comparing Japan to New Zealand. Pretty sad really.
I know it’s crazy now. I was just watching to buy a place in Sydney now you have to be making $190,000 a year.
@@lifeinruraljapan I’m lucky enough to own my home in NZ, so it’s something to fall back on if I decide to stay in Japan for a while.
That is a good thing to have. I don’t mind it here just the yen is not worth the paper it is printed on.
@@lifeinruraljapan certainly makes my time in Japan cheaper than I thought possible. Enjoy it while it lasts I suppose.
Q? Have you been back to Australia regularly? Id imagine that people would seem downright rude compared to the polite ( tatamae)Japanese . Veggies looking good 👍
This was interesting to hear the differences between the countries, while seeing how your vegetable garden is growing. 😊 - Michelle
Thanks. The veggies are coming along nicely. Also much cheaper than buying them.
Those nets spoil the fun.
That’s Japan for you. They LOVE safety.

Thanks so do I
Cool video, thanks for the insight!
Your welcome
Thank you for sharing this. ❤ How about another video from your perspective as a partner of someone living with auto immune disease? This is my current situation now for the past 8 years when my husband got diagnosed with one variation of this disease a few months before we got married.
That is an idea. It’s very hard on everyone in the family as you well know. It makes you feel a bit useless because you can’t do anything to help them.
So sad
It is. Just trying to find a new doctor who can do something for her.
Can you go to Tokyo ? Is it Lupus ?
Don’t think so not sure what it is.
I wish only the best for your wife and I hope she finds help.
Thanks. I appreciate
Gary, what’s that disease called in Japanese? If you need someone to talk to give me a call.
Nice. Uplifting
Thanks Bob how have you been.
Is there any rules
Not really. Just as many as you can pick up with one hand.
I just was in Japan, great country with reasonable plans of mobility ! I wonder why we don't find those cars on the german market, but I guess why..... I'd buy a Kei Car immediately.
Me ,too. They would sell like hotcakes.
That's really cool, Garry, and a great catch-up video.
Thanks Murray
There is also a Honda cb400 in the background, exactly the same that i use to have
They had a few of them all over priced.
What's retire?
Retirement. 退職
@@lifeinruraljapan Thanks. Just never been familiar with any of the words.
No problem. Glad to help.
"そこに停めちゃダメですよ"
It’s not the best place
That's because farming isn't a job it's a lifestyle, it's a passion. My dream is to retire as a farmer and I am currently a Punch-Out Carpenter for the past 35 + years. I'll never retire from working because working gives you purpose and I must always have purpose to serve others with the gifts that have been bestowed upon me because they may be my talents but they're God's gift to you. Thanks 🙈🙉🙊
26 and never dated 😢. guess its time to book a ticket to the phillipines
It’s normal here for the wife to look after the money and the husband gets an allowance.
mate if the whole world was Chinese/Japanese we would be fully automatised like 5 centuries ago
