Living Beyond Breast Cancer

Living Beyond Breast Cancer

Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a national nonprofit organization that seeks to create a world that understands there is more than one way to have breast cancer. To fulfill our mission of providing trusted information and a community of support, we offer on-demand emotional, practical, and evidence-based content that is meaningful to those newly diagnosed, in treatment, post-treatment, and living with metastatic disease.

For over 30 years, Living Beyond Breast Cancer has imparted wisdom and connection via conferences, events, a peer-to-peer helpline, and more. Today, we remain committed to creating a culture of acceptance-where sharing the diversity of the lived experience of breast cancer fosters self-advocacy and hope.

Good news on The Right Choice Study. Note that endocrine therapy can also be used neoadjuvantly to shrink a mass in early-stage breast cancers. This again, gives patients the option to forego chemotherapy for endocrine therapy + targeted therapy (CDK 4/6 inhibitors). This is an FDA approved path which can be used in advanced stage 2 and stage 3 hormone positive breast cancer (typically presenting with nodal involvement). One can also understand that perhaps with the less aggressive treatment there are less aggressive responses from the cancer itself outwitting treatments. With less aggressive treatments sometimes outcomes are just better and less is actually more. This means less chemotherapy-induced metastatic disease. We still need to keep chemo in our arsenal, but we should only use it when absolutely needed. the following paper discusses understanding how low dose and less aggressive options may spare patients from more aggressive responses from the disease itself This is very important to understand because we can see that with cases like Shannen Doherty's case, her cancer's response to aggressive treatment was only to get more aggressive. This is a cautionary tale that presents us with many seeming catch 22s. On the one hand we want to be aggressive with cancer and try to eradicate it, but on the other hand we need to proceed extremely cautiously. What is the longest someone can live with metastatic cancer to the bone? My oncologist hasn’t known anyone who has past 4 years. He also does not recommend surgery to remove the tumor on the pelvic bone which has stabilized since chemo & radiation but is expected to become active and spread as is the nature of bone Mets. Is there nothing that can help someone other than chemo and radiation for new spread sites, which, treatments themselves, weaken bone?

I love this series! I heard about it from a friend who is a cancer survivor. I am not, but I have had three joint replacements (one shoulder, two knees) and I've been looking for a routine that has adaptations built into it--this does, and works so well for me. Three options of movement are offered for each routine, which works well (for example, I can't kneel because of the. knee replacements, so floor work is not an option, but I have a lot of stamina, so I can do the higher level options for routines that aren't on the floor). I also like the circuit nature of the exercises--not too much time on any one activity. Thanks for this, Sami!

They are so expensive to purchase. We are ALREADY going through a lot and having to pay so much for a bra so that we can mentally feel better is such a jab. YES, I did order one and didn't care for the fit or the sizing; so I found a bra that did the same thing at TARGET and provided a better support. Please make these type of bras MORE affordable, we are just trying to make it.

I don’t know how I could be diagnosed with stage for breast cancer last April I had stage 1b1 scamocell cervical cancer when through chemotherapy total hysterectomy and radiation plus bracky therapy. I October 2023 I was told I was cancer free it was all gone. 3 months later I have a pet scan and I’m told I have Her2 positive er and pr negative stage for Brest cancer after a biopsy. There is no cancer in my breast. It’s in my liver virginal wall stomach. They can’t find the primary what could have caused this. None of the cancers were more than 16mm. I have since had paclitaxel and trastuzumab pertuzumab in combination. I have been to,d I have to be on trastuzumab and pertuzumab for the rest of my life. My question is how could this happen. The second question is there a vaccine coming out for someone like me if so when.
