    Is it true that cow's milk was quite rare until the High Middle Ages? I read that it was mostly cultivated in wealthy monasteries.

    @@seloslav I haven't heard that it was especially rare but generally it wouldn't stay good for very long so I think it was more commonly used as cheese etc

    How do you attach the belt ends? Are there rivets? Recently bought parts and am learning to make my own medieval belt but I didn’t realize it would be different than modern belts when it came to attaching it

    Murex purple and wine red were only available to royalty but there were other lighter purples and mauves that were generally available.

    Poor people of course colored their cloth, but only with some natural dyes (like flowers or grass or tree bark) but those was giving a little range of colors. Combining color is only for rich...
