    I've been playing Minecraft since Alpha days, and, to be honest, it didn't really change that much. Sure, they added a bunch of new stuff, but it's still Minecraft, and you can play it the way you want to play it. Visually, it looks pretty much the same, with some textures improved but some not so much. Personally, I liked the colors of the beta version. Those nice greens and blue water. The new water is too transparent, and the color is somehow too cold. Also, the old cobble was better. The new one looks too bubbly. Then the launcher feels a lot more bloated than it used to be. And so on and on... In general, there are some things I liked better in beta, and some things are better in the new version.

    I always feel so lazy when i say Minecraft survival mode just seriously needs to look at Terraria and how much more freedom, expression, choice, and variety they give you comparatively when the basic tasks you do are quite similar but i feel like thats the best way to put it, ive played 6 times as much MC than i have Terraria and still always think about it. Even Valheim does some things in a way i wish MC could

    *They also broke their own shop system.* In the old versions, villagers could trade some quite cool stuff, and the price was good. Now??? Just grab 32 sticks!!! Yeah, very balanced, totally didn't trivialize the emerald!!! Prob some kid with 1 burned braincell might find this "balanced".

    Someone straight up ripped the minecraft source code, then stole the ideas from terrafirma craft and sold it for 30 dollars... Pretty sure this is illegal! Wouldnt be surprised if this game is taken down at somepoint

  • @TheGeekFactor_
    @TheGeekFactor_13 сағат бұрын

    So… there’s like several false statements here. They did not rip the Minecraft source code. The game doesn’t run on Java lol They did not steal from terrafirmacraft, they got explicit permission to use and adapt features from the creators of TFC and one dev on the vintage story team used to work on TFC. Also the game is 20 bucks. The game is perfectly legal and no plagirism occurred. Trust me, I’ve done the research

    There's no problem with minecraft this game is made for kids, and the only way adults can enjoy minecraft is for the use of mods (They actually sell the game without mods restrictions) That's why we love minecraft for the freedom they give.

    Many good points made in this video about how awful some systems in minecraft are, but I do wish to comment on this: the best gear in minecraft isnt a goal for most people, its a means to an end, that end being whatever you want it to be. Making it harder to get those tools because "terraria has deeper progression" since you like to use it as a comparing medium is not a valid criticism, yes, it does feel like honest work when you make a villager breeder and trading hall, no, it would not be better if we had to transport villagers to high hell for 1 enchantment. Can the system be better? Yes! Nobody likes braking lecterns for 20 minutes! That is a valid criticism! Anyways, my point is, basically every system you mentioned can and should be improved, but adding mechanics that are more complex but arguably equally as brain-dead, unengaging and time-wasting is not a solution.

  • @TheGeekFactor_

    I have an appreciation and a fascination for older Minecraft, but I honestly don't understand players who "hate" or dislike the newer Minecraft. I've been playing for over a decade and personally I only think its gotten better and better over time. If anything I appreciate being able to download programmes like Betacraft that allow me to experience old Minecraft again, whilst being able to enjoy the modern game at the same time.

    The only thing to do is build cool things that no one will ever see or interact with. Literally spent the last three days building a castle on a hill to be my base and now that its done im building a fancy cobblestone bridge across a river so i can reach some distant mountains and along the way I'm building sixty block tall beacon towers so i can find my way back. The game only works when you set goals since there aren't any objectives

    20:49 i think problem with confort zone fix is that. It is a bit complicated for casual players. Like players want basic shit, its human brain. If its complicated then people will leave so too many details means decrease in player count. But i agree on bell thing. It makes sense. Also i am building a underground basement for my base and i will keep most of my villagers there. It is still a prison but they will have their own comfort zones. edit: it is a video game goddammit slavery is not an issue those players are basically lazy ass players

  • @TheGeekFactor_

    Slavery itself isn’t the issue, it’s mojang’s hypocrisy. They don’t put things like frogs in the game but allow for this kind of slavery based shit to happen. That’s the issue I take.

    I made a whole video about this, but as a 2012 player that's consistently played (due to being ExplodingTNT's lead actor) since then, I do think modern Minecraft has an issue with adding features with no depth. If you look at most updates prior to 1.10 most of what was added had some form of purpose beyond their base use. When endermen and strongholds were added, for instance, they didn't really do anything on their own. When 1.0 came out you could use ender pearls to make eyes of ender to then go to the stronghold to fight the ender dragon. Modern updates don't really work this way, they add things with 1 use and that's it. They don't expand on what already existed more often than not.

    The reason why Mojang doesn't update the mushroom biome is because it's one of the most insanely OP biomes in the game both for survival and creative but since it's so rare that balances it out but to justify them updating it means making it more common and with that a full balancing rework. Atleast I imagine that's a part of it.

    dude… it seems like you just wanted to make a video about terraria. literally what does terraria have to do with minecraft, a completely separate game? obviously it’s not going to be the same, and it shouldn’t be. your comparison doesn’t even make sense since, again, they are two separate games, made by different people, with different ideas and goals in mind. please learn how to effectively argue instead of just info dumping irrelevant information (terraria’s progression).

  • @TheGeekFactor_
    @TheGeekFactor_Күн бұрын

    So… a couple things with this. I said outright in this video that I don’t want Minecraft to be like Terraria. Literally the beginning of part 2. Also, I use terraria as an example of a game that I feel handles its progression well. There is a lot of overlap between the two games, however, I never stated that they are the exact same thing. I feel like people don’t pay a lot of attention when watching this video.

    Minecraft was something unique, not unique just for the sake of it but unique in a good way. It was a good game. When I look at it now, see everything that's been added since my departure... It's like, the content was made by kids or for kids. It's like cheap mods... It's just content... Like seeing another movie with a random name and plot on Netflix, something which can't stand out on it's own. It's like making the 89th movie about Fast & Furious. It baffles me that there is so much they could do, without even touching the base game, yet it's just uninspired literally sh*tty content. I really can't understand how this happens in most games who support modding in some way. How is it that a bunch of modders always end up with the most obvious fucking idea, make it good and improve the game, having millions of downloads. Meanwhile the studio and actual devs are getting paid for doing jackshit. I guess they are bored of working on Minecraft but the pay is good... Or they have cool ideas but they need to keep the game available for all kids. Maybe it's just a kid's game now. We grew up, Minecraft didn't. It didn't evolve much or introduced more sandbox mechanics or building features either. It could have done so much more... It could have incorporated building more into progression, make progression slower or meaningful. At worst it could have introduced a better survival mode instead of a simple difficulty. This is literally Microsoft's biggest game and it's just a pile of shit built on top of it's initial state, which was a decade ago. It's like the initial state was FarCry 3 and what was built after that is all FarCry 6. Just meaningless content, made for the sake of adding content, uninspired, cheap, made for kids and people with ADHD and even than the output rate and quality of content is much less than what it's budget and popularity suggests. I think the last time I seriously dived in was 1.8. After that I quit. And not once any of the news or updates made me come back and play it seriously. I never felt excited. I didn't even beat the game or built huge ass buildings. Didn't spent time much on multiplayer servers other than a very thoughtful and elegant roleplay server which kept the vanilla experience. I got what I wanted and after more than a decade, they never managed to add something that actually made me come back. But mods, the mods did.

  • @TheGeekFactor_
    @TheGeekFactor_Күн бұрын

    So… what things in particular do you not like about the updates? I see a lot of alluding to in this comment without any real specifics. I’m curious as to what specifically you dislike.

    I think automation is a blast. A big milestone in any of my worlds (when I used to play the game) was automating a sugarcane farm or some kind of food farm and maybe even some kind of fuel farm as well. I try to avoid using redstone guides for my projects unless I’m just completely lost and often I end up changing the designs for my own purposes to make better use of my specific logistical constraints (like trying to contain my farms in a building or underground so it doesn’t look bad). Learning redstone and genuinely engineering with it is such a great time. However iron farms and villager trading halls are really stupid. They actively remove from the game without adding some kind of challenge for me to get around like other automation projects. It feels like a bug. In summary, redstone is awesome, villagers are way too easily taken advantage of

    Okay, so I completely agree. I remember seeing a video about another guy criticizing progreasion, and he proposed randomly generated materials and tools unique to every seed so that theres always something to learn. I cant find the video, but if someone does, ull see its extremely close in opinion

  • @fortnight5677
    @fortnight5677Күн бұрын

    There are already mods stretching the progression and making it meaningful. Like not being able to destroy any blocks outright immediately, using a layered system instead. If you hit a tree with your hand, you destroy the first layer of log and you get a tree bark, destroy next layer and you get a stick. With stick you can craft pointy stick, with pointy stick you can destroy outer layer of stone and destroy layers of logs faster. Basic tools now require string to be crafted. You can no longer have a crafting table 5 seconds into the game, you need to have better tools and more material to make it. On the other hand Minecraft is easy because it does a shitty job at... anything. I remember when I played it as a kid, I didn't even know how to make the FUCKING CRAFTING TABLE and I was enlightened when I discovered the crafting recipes on the internet.

    Idek why you would need to go above iron armor in minecraft you can beat every boss in full iron gear unenchanted super easily. Like why even get full diamond armor and if you do get diamond armor why would you get netherite? They added netherite to a game that already worked with just diamond armor and even then it’s really not that much better than iron. Like i get it if you wanna be overpowered in like a hardcore world and play the server for a long time then fine but if you’re any good at video games you’ll never need to go past iron. You can beat minecraft in a day if you know how to do it.
