39 year X-ray/Mamm tech here. I was watching AGT and couldn't believe my eyes - a commercial about US!! I had to rewind it and watch it again! Thanks ASRT for FINALLY giving us some recognition for what we do day in and day out. Imagine trying to make a diagnosis without imaging- oh that's right-you can't!

I JUST dropped my daughter off at Thomas Jefferson University today. She is in the 4yr medical imaging- radiation sciences program. I'm so excited. A similar commercial ran tonight on AGT! I never saw it before. She wants to do radiation therapy and MRI. She can graduaye with 2 certifications. Take care all!

I graduated from the Radiologic Technology program in 1980, still working as an MRI technologist- we had several moves over the years for my husband's job and I have never had an issue in gaining employment. We deserve the respect and consideration that other healthcare professionals receive, this has been a long time coming.

19 years and counting as a CT Technologist. It's time. I take my job very seriously. Doctor's can't do their job without us, yet we are treated like we are not important. WE ARE IMPORTANT!

Wow, just wow!!! As an RTRM for 35 years, I have often been called nurse and respectfully let them know I am a radiologic technologist. I have also been called a technician and respectfully let them know I am a technologist. I have often been forgotten in my line of work, knowing without my assistance the providers would never be able to diagnose these patients. I applaud the ASRT for stepping up for our profession!!

Extremely disappointing to see a commercial from the ASRT and have it only mention sonographers as “taking pictures of babies” sonographers do SO much more than that. I loved the idea of the commercial and I’m glad you’re bringing awareness but this is such a disservice to our neighbors in ultrasound!

Wow!!! What a phenomenal ad!! I retired from radiology a year ago after spending 50 years saying “take in a deep breath and hold it”🤣. I spent years in both the hospital setting as well as private practice. I knew my coworkers were very smart and proficient people, but it was always the doctors and nurses who were recognized for their patient care. In the early 80’s there was a catastrophic accident at the Hyatt Regency in KCMO. The hospital was put into emergency mode. Staff was called in. Almost every patient who arrived at the hospital needed radiology services due to crushing injuries or traumatic amputation. Like all of the other departments, radiology staff was working 14+ hr shifts for several weeks. When the hospital finally started to ebb back into a normal routine, the doctors and nurses were congratulated on saving so many lives. It was a punch in the gut, but I knew the impact my beloved radiology department had made during this catastrophe. Thank you ASRT for making us shine 🌟🌟🌟🌟

How about awareness about seeing all the patients in the hospital. Including x-raying the Covid patients. Hardly anyone realizes the exposure we had.

YEAH!! Now can we please have a proper Radiology Department with actual RadTech characters on Grey's Anatomy, Hollywood? After 20 years, don't you think it's time we stop watching the heart surgeons perform portable chest x-rays on that show, for the love of God?? CRINGE.

Thank you for sharing. I have been a CT Tech and multi- modality in all area but MRi.. As a Ct tech myself I have scanned many CT injuries to the head and neck to save time and lives..We are now doing in sec's multiphase scans for arterial and venous blood supple that can identify life issue instead of patient waiting for intervention to do so. helping also for surgical planning in orthopedics The U-tube video is not so accurate as it does imply that is a Radiation Therapist..are the head trauma scanning techs They have an expertise for planning treatments and giving rad therapy for treating Cancer.. along with nuc med tech who plan for treatments.. Thank you again for recognizing and educating on what are role is in medicine and how dependent the hospitals are for our services..

@@mohammedumairbaig9254radiation therapy jobs usually require at least an associate’s degree, but a bachelor’s is better. It won’t necessarily change your job requirements but it will definitely make it harder to find a job with just an associate’s degree. Radiation therapists do not diagnose cancer, that is the job of an oncologist. Radiation therapists administer cancer treatment to patients and support them emotionally as they go through the process. The only thing similar to diagnosing is performing routine scans to see the progress of their cancer treatment, but that isn’t really diagnosing it
