    Good review, thanks. Have you considered the new KT Ginxu?

  • @WingsurferNL

    Not really. Alltough the new Ginxu 2 model is longer, for the conditions we get I think it will be more difficult to get up on a similar size. The Ginxu Super K is a different story. The 92 gets going faster then fast. Now gone compare the Drifter 80 and super k 80.

    Big difference. As mentioned there is a gap between the FD and the 56l Wing Drifter. So much more rocker and it costs a lot of effort to get on to a smaller foil. Think I had about 10 sessions untill I got a dedicated FD board (Axis) which almost has no rocker. Where with the Wing drifter I almost ran out of 17sec boost time on a Axis foils Spitfire 900, I almost dont need boost on the dedicated board. And for the new Drifter 4.. I only tried one time so far. But I think it sits in between, so much easier.

    I agree 100% with what you say. I have way more fun and enjoy a bigger board than a smaller board. Bigger board you can get started way easier, get on the foil faster, way less energy used, and you learn faster. Small board, I don't see the benefit of it, apart from storage and transportation. For me, I have 2 boards which are Starboard wingboards, 6.3 carbon and 5.2 light tech. The 5.2 weight is probably 0.8kg heavier than the 6.3 carbon board. The 5.2 light tech board does take more effort to get on the foil and hard work, so I far prefer going out on the 6.3 board in any conditions. I fell for the (You need a smaller board hype) YOU DONT. Many thanks, Enjoy, we are all different, LOL.

Die was goed te bestijgen in choppy condities en vond ik het lekkerste en makkelijkste varen tot nu toe: Conclusie: Als je er op kunt komen is kleiner beter. • @WingsurferNL
    @WingsurferNL5 ай бұрын

    It depends what you wanna do. Replace the 1099 for light wind by a Spitfire, you would still need something large. Riding swell and chop you can go 1100. But riding breaking waves, you wont hold such a size down. But you might have gotten better by now, so you might get up easier with a smaller foil. For wing I really don't take out larger then the 900. But this size won't be on the foil as quick as the 1099 when the wind is really light.

    I rode the Sk8 950 a lot this spring. Until the spitfire came along. I thought of doing a comparison, but never got around. Both work great and are in a similar segment. As I never compared in the same conditions it's hard to say what's really different as they are quite similar. I do think the Spitfire can and needs to be ridden a bit more aggressive. As the SK8 might be a bit more forgiving. Spitfire 900 is different then the smaller sizes I think. Atleast for my weight it is. I rather ride the smaller ones when it's on.

I am doing kite foiling and here is my current foil setup: Axis Power Carbon 90cm mast, HPS 650 at the front and Progressive 375 at the back, all that connected via Black Series Short fuselage. The foil is powered and controled by Duotone Mono 7m2 and Duotone Pace 4'6'' foil board. The spot where I ride has the wind up to 20 knots so I was thinking to upgrade the wing setup to: Spitfire 840 at the front and Skinny 360/45. Sometimes I feel the art 999 is a little stiff to carve aggressively, while it offers good gliding. What I do not understand is why you experience that it takes more speed for the spitfire 840 to get up...being a little thicker and having the same area I guessed it would get up easier...

    It really depends on wing size and conditions aswell. For every step down you need more wind to keep going for a smooth ride. But how much exact is difficult to say. Probably figure out until which wind you are comfortable on for the 900. Then try and imagine in how much more wind you like to be out. If the difference is small, go for one step down. Otherwise go 2 steps down in size. Hope this helps.

I ride in the Atlantic (Canary Islands), we have a lot of chop and wind swell (20 to 30 knots mostly) as you in the Northsea.SHould i go down to 80, 70 or 58 ? My first thought is maybe 70 (15 to 20 less than my weight) if the start in moving water is quiet easy, if not maybe I should be more conservative and go just 8 liter down to 80. A downside is also I think that when you are in shore break you want to get up quickly and if you have to little volume you have to go deeper but maybe a 70 liter board will be a good compromise... other people say that its easier to start sth 30l less than 20l less...Well it would be really a super great help if you can share your thoughts about the boards/volume you have used. Only board that went easier was long, a 5'3 AK board. Shorter board will help with the waveride turny feeling. But I can't help you choose on something I have not ridden. Great, thanks, my V3 5 Sqm behaves exactly as you describe. You „praise“ the cwc for light wind. For the v2 cwc I agree. Question: doesn’t the V3 cwc have the same low wind pumping problem compared to the V2? I fear yes…? Thanks for an indication. Gerrit (expecting the 6 cwc V3 soon😮)

    V1 and v2 CWC where basicly the same, different colors. The CWC always had a deeper, more 'baggie' design over the normal Strike. Same for the V3 cwc I think. But I did not try this one. It's been to windy here and the focus lately has been on 4m wings. 4m strike really performs well by the way! 6m cwc is on stock by the way.

    There is a Swing 3 out, that is meant for wave. Would be good to compare.

    It's an older model. 2/3 years old. This video was recorded almost 2 years ago by now. 📹

    Great review - appreciate the "honest" feedback on the positives and negatives - and thanks for doing it in English! PS Any plans to review the new Swing v3?

    Great review. I can’t imagine how hard such technical vocabulary must be in a second language, impressive!
