Davey Lopes at the age of 40 in 1985, was 47 for 51 in stolen bases in only 99 games for the Cubs. Awesome! You can look it up. ⚾️ 🧢

This game was July 29th, 2001, during the steroid era. A 7-run lead when the other team has 3 more at bats is not insurmountable. Thus, I have no problem with Rickey taking the extra base. By the way, he was not credited with a SB. It was ruled Fielder's Indifference.

I think Baseball Brawls are a little more unpredictable. 5’8” 180 lb John Cangelosi took down 6’8” 255 lb Jeff Juden in a brawl between Houston and Montreal. The final result is mostly just determined on how the pile forms.

O M G...I think I was there! This was the first game of a double header vs the Bosox around 70 or 71 or 72. Sitting in right field with my mom. Back when a good single mom could take her boy to a game. Yea, O's pushed over a run in the bottom of the 9th to tie it at 1, then Brooks led of the 10th with the walk off. Great memories.

The Giants should never have traded Maddox for Willie Montanez, who wasn't Maddox's equal and who hated the Bay Area so much he had to be traded a year later. The Giants did get Darrell Evans, a fine player, when they traded Montanez, but never replaced Maddox's defense in center.

  • @greatloverofmusic1

I remember my dad and uncle would tell me stories of the 1977 Boston Red Sox, which had a lineup that the 9th place hitter would bat up 4th or 5th for any team in the majors at that time, Butch Hobson had over 25 homeruns with over 100 r.b.i's and batted 9th for the majority of the year for the Bosox
